It wasn’t until he sent Xu Shi Ye away and closed the stand back after finished selling his things that Chen Xing suddenly figured out that something wasn’t right there, and exclaimed in surprise, “Ah! I know what is weird (strange)!”

With this sudden utterance of sound, he startled Qiu Jiu who was next to him. He stupefyingly looked at him, blinking his eyes twice and asking in confusion, “Chen Xing, what’s wrong with you?”

Chen Xing’s expression at this moment was extraordinarily serious, even his voice took on a bit of seriousness, “Have you ever felt that the officials here are too nice?”

Qiu Jiu, who originally thought that Chen Xing was going to say something, immediately let out a sigh of relief when he heard him say this, and said after taking a big breath, “Hey, I thought there is a problem. It turns out it’s just this matter ah, maybe it’s just that the officials here are more enthusiastic!”

Chen Xing stroked his own chin with one hand, his eyes filled with confusion, “However, I still feel that they are paying too much attention to this little stall of mine, and I always feel that there is something strange there! But I’m just a young ordinary citizen, and I don’t have anything worth their concern!”

Qiu Jiu carefully looked at Chen Xing’s face, hesitated for a while but still said, “Maybe it’s because you’re more in tune with them, plus the things you’ve made are also to their taste, that’s why they’re so polite to you!”

Chen Xing felt that this was the most logical reason, but still felt that something was not quite right there, but couldn’t find anything wrong there, so he looked at Qiu Jiu and asked again, “Really?”

Facing Chen Xing’s skeptical gaze, Qiu Jiu frantically nodded his head, hoping that he would believe his words, “Yes, what else could it be? After all, we’re poor and we don’t know anyone and we don’t have many resources, so what do others have to gain? It’s probably just that the county magistrate is too kind, that’s why he pays special attention to the underprivileged group.”

Chen Xing looked at his sincere and serious look. He seemed to think that he had a point or reasonable and that he was probably overthinking things, so he nodded along, not really caring as he said, “Hn, what you said is right.”

Qiu Jiu looked at the doubt that lifted from Chen Xing’s face and quietly let out a sigh of relief.

When the two of them returned to the Gu Mansion, during the evening meal, Chen Xing still couldn’t hold back from telling Gu Lang what had happened today. At the end of the day, when he took the soup that Gu Lang had served him, he also added,

“I think the county magistrate is really a good person and also a good official, in the future, the life of the people here will definitely get better and better!”

Gu Lang listened to Chen Xing’s words and looked up to see Chen Xing with a serious look on his face. He replied with a soft voice, the corners of his mouth hooked up in a shallow arc, as long as Chen Xing was happy it was good, and the other unnecessary things didn’t matter.

After getting Gu Lang’s response, Chen Xing talked to him about the things that happened during the day. Most of them were trivial matters, like the children in what family were asking for food, but their digestive system system was fragile, and his parents coaxed them and didn’t allow them to eat, talking about these kinds of insignificant trivial matters.

But Gu Lang listened extraordinarily seriously, his eyes looking at Chen Xing’s face because he was happy so it became a few points brighter, always bringing a pure light smile on his face.

Since Gu Lang left home, he hadn’t felt such ordinary life for many years, even if it was trivial, even if it was insignificant, he missed it very much. Perhaps he hadn’t found himself nostalgic before, and it wasn’t until he had that one certain person now that he had some concepts towards home.

Chen Xing spoke excitedly, and Gu Lang next to him occasionally followed and responded with a couple of sentences before he had the desire to speak again. Occasionally, when a soft ‘meow’ came from his feet, he would stop and clip a piece of fish and hand it to the little one at his feet who had already finished eating.

Gu Lang watched as Chen Xing lowered his head to feed the cat, always with a gentle smile on his face, and suddenly he had the feeling that it wouldn’t be bad if he could live like this forever.

When Chen Xing raised his head, he met Gu Lang’s gaze which was as gentle as usual, but with a slight difference. He didn’t know why, but when he met that gaze, his face slowly began to redden.

Even under the not-so-bright candlelight, Chen Xing’s blushing was still obvious, and Gu Lang asked softly, “What’s wrong?”

Chen Xing immediately came back to his senses and hastily shook his head, refusing to reveal half of his petty mind, “I’m fine.”

Gu Lang looked at Chen Xing’s evasive gaze, and after a moment of silence did not continue to pursue the question, gently answered, “Hn, however, if there is anything, you can speak directly with me.”

“I know it.”

Hearing Gu Lang’s softly reassuring voice, Chen Xing didn’t know why he suddenly remembered the day not too long ago, that little thought he had before, the one that had risen up, that little secret of wanting to be together with Gu Lang, and in an instant, his face turned even redder. He thought that it was lucky that Gu Lang didn’t know, otherwise he would have laughed at him.

Gu Lang stared at Chen Xing’s keep changing face, as if he was determining something, his eyes flickered and darkened, and finally gradually turned deep and quiet.

On that very night, Chen Xing had a dream about being threatened with inducements or using both coercion and cajolery by Madam Chen into a bridal sedan chair not long after he transmigrated over here; only this time and the last time is different, this time he is not alone to walk through that scene, but someone holding his hands together to perform the marriage ceremony. After that, they entered the bridal chamber, waiting until they entered the room and what he saw was Gu Lang who was wearing wedding clothes and rushing to him as he smiled.

Gu Lang’s face, because of the composition of the wedding clothes, is a little more red than usual and he looks more and more handsome and peerless. He looked at Chen Xing with a smile on his face, his thin lips slightly opened, and he whispered, “Husband, let me serve you to rest!”

Chen Xing was startled awake, staring with his round eyes towards the top of the bed that showed a few outlines of hazy dim light color of night. He then quietly and slowly shrunk his body towards the inside of the thin quilt, blushing as he tried to hide himself.

How could he have such a dream? Moreover, it was such a shameful dream!

If it wasn’t for the late hour now, Chen Xing would have wanted to run out and scream twice, but he couldn’t. Thus, he could only twist himself into a ball under the covers, dwelling on why he had such a dream the whole night!

When he woke up the next day, Qiu Jiu was still shocked by his appearance.

Qiu Jiu looked at the patch of green blue color under Chen Xing’s eyes and asked cautiously, “Chen Xing, what’s wrong with you? Are you alright?”

Chen Xing, who hadn’t had a good night’s sleep, just looked at him and shook his head, then ghostly went to the kitchen.

Qiu Jiu looked at Chen Xing’s footsteps that seemed to be floating, shook the goosebumps all over his body, and immediately followed. He had to watch Chen Xing, afraid that he would have any accidents, then he really would have to carry away leftovers while dining out.

It wasn’t until they finished their breakfast that Chen Xing slightly recovered his spirit, only then he left the Gu Mansion while feeling guilty and Gu Lang’s curious eyes looking at him.

Gu Lang stood at the doorway recalling the way Chen Xing looked at himself when he left, smiled gently as he closed the door and went back to the room.

Waiting until the doorway of the Gu Family had regained its calmness, did the few people hiding not far away glance at each other and feel their way towards the remote back door.
