Chapter 16 - Turned the Male Lead Green (16)

Subtitle: Can't be too stimulating

Ruan Yan wore a sleeping gown as white as snow. The gown was slightly short, revealing the smooth, tender calves.

He grasped the phone, a slither of emotion appearing in his attractive peach blossom eyes.

Chu Nan had invited Ran Yan and Ruan Yan to the haunted house at the same time…

This really was the perfect example of everyone knowing the wild ambitions of Sima Zhao. (1)

Ruan Yan prepared a few things and went to the Chu Manor on time the second day.

This time, he wasn’t refused entry into the room. Chu Nan opened the door with a towel wrapped around him, “Teaching physics today? I’ve already prepared the books.”

Looking at Ruan Yan’s cold, elegant temperament, Chu Nan already couldn’t resist the secret whiff of excitement that surged up in his heart.

He had searched quite a few reviews on haunted houses last night, and many of those reviews had agreed that they were completely unable to resist; even a 2m tall, muscular man was reduced to being a dog.

Chu Nan was curious, what would Ruan Yan look like after being scared?

He had to let Yan Yan clearly see how untrustworthy Ruan Yan was.

Ruan Yan saw how self-aware Chu Nan was being and understood exactly what he had in mind.

In order for him to agree to go to the haunted house, he was fighting to be on his best behavior.

Ruan Yan didn’t deign to be polite and straightforwardly nodded his head, “Alright, let me prepare the lesson.”

“You’re only preparing now? Why didn’t you do it before?” Chu Nan was too accustomed to refuting Ruan Yan, and habitually questioned his words.

Ruan Yan glanced at him, “5 minutes. Go put on your clothes immediately, and I’ll prepare the lesson. Do you have a problem?”

His face was cold as he stared directly at Chu Nan. From his face, Chu Nan unwarrantedly saw the words “I’m not happy”.

If this has been yesterday, then Chu Nan would have felt smug after being able to nauseate Ruan Yan, but today, he couldn’t.

What would he do if Ruan Yan refused to go to the haunted house?

Chu Nan did an “ok” gesture with his hands, “Fine. Prepare slowly, there’s no hurry.”

He took out his clothes and prepared to put them on.

Ruan Yan heard the rustling of clothes and didn’t even turn his head as he said, “Change in the bathroom.”

Chu Nan: !

This was his room, but as soon as Ruan Yan came, he not only had to wear his clothes properly, but even had to go to the bathroom to change his clothes.

Chu Nan almost wanted to retort: Are you jealous that my figure’s better than yours? And that’s why you’re too scared to face me directly.

He glumly muttered Yan Yan a few times in his heart before heading to the bathroom to change his clothes.

No matter how bad Chu Nan’s bad temper made his face, at the very least, out of helplessness, he truly didn’t give Ruan Yan any more problems.

Ruan Yan had just finished preparing the lesson when Chu Nan finished changing.

Ruan Yan was very detailed when he was teaching. As someone ranked amongst even the top of study gods, he could immediately apply most of the syllabus knowledge points after a single look.

But when he was explaining them to another person, he would carefully unpack each point. Even if it was the easiest question, he would still gently ask, “Is there anything you don’t understand?”

Because of this, even if it was a student with extremely terrible basics like Chu Nan, they would still improve with his teachings.

For an entire afternoon, Chu Nan cooperated extremely well.

When it was 11am, he let out a cough, “So, Ruan Yan, have you finished considering the thing about the haunted house?”

Ruan Yan was looking through the exam Chu Nan had finished. When he heard Chu Nan’s words, he glanced over, “How do you think your studies are going?”

A hint of violence crept into Chu Nan’s eyes. If this had been one of the school teachers, then he wouldn’t have even bothered with it, after all, which school tyrant would actually put effort into their studies?

“Pretty well.” Chu Nan withdrew his temper, dryly answering.

“Specifics?”

“…Skilfully grasped the syllabus points and can use them adeptly. Am also fairly familiar with typical types of test questions and their variations.”

Chu Nan thought that he was mad, otherwise, why would he seriously answer this kind of question from Ruan Yan?

He’d almost had enough, “Ruan Yan, about the haunted house…”

If Ruan Yan let him get what he wanted so easily, then he wouldn’t be completing his mission as the villain.

He asked, “What are we eating for lunch? I’m hungry.”

Chu Nan fell silent for a moment. Anyone who was familiar with him would know that he was about to explode.

“Instant noodles.” Chu Nan’s voice was suppressed to the point that it was slightly hoarse, “Seafood flavoured. I’ll make it for you. We’ll go to the haunted house after it’s done.”

Ruan Yan was slightly shocked. Chu Nan was so self-aware, actually knowing to go make him instant noodles?

He shook his head, “Not instant noodles. There’s no nutrition in instant noodles.”

“What do you want to eat?” Chu Nan forced down his temper, “Ruan Yan, don’t go for a mile after getting an inch.”

Chu Nan even suspected that Ruan Yan was purposefully playing with him because he’d seen through his plans.

But how could he know? He didn’t know that he’d invited Yan Yan.

Ruan Yan explained expressionlessly, “We’ll most likely be doing a lot of exercise if we go to the haunted house. If I’m not full, then I won’t consider participating in this kind of high energy exertion activity.”

It really was logical.

But, Chu Nan replied, “It’s not convenient to order take out here, you can just eat a few more bowls of instant noodles.”

Ruan Yan finished marking the paper, “Grandma Chu said that there were vegetables in the freezer.”

“You’re going to cook?” Chu Nan calmed a down a tiny bit.

“I don’t know how to cook. You cook.” Ruan Yan replied.

“Why should I cook if you don’t know how to cook?!” Chu Nan had beared enough. He was so angry that his voice heightened, and blue veins popped out of his well-defined hand.

He was obviously extremely furious.

Ruan Yan continued as if he couldn’t tell, “Grandma Chu said, you know how to cook.”

He couldn’t possibly wrong himself to eat instant noodles again.

This really was more and more like taking a mile after getting an inch. Chu Nan’s face turned dark, “You think you’re my wife?”

His temper had always been, and after forcing himself to behave well for an entire afternoon with Ruan Yan stepping all over his face, now, he immediately threw open the door and left.

He was afraid that he would kill Ruan Yan if he stayed here.

Chu Nan left in a bout of anger, yet Ruan Yan wasn’t worried at all.

He’d always been cusped in the centre of everyone’s palms growing up. Instant noodles, this kind of food, he’d only tasted once before out of curiosity.

If it wasn’t for tutoring Chu Nan, then don’t talk about instant noodles, Ruan Yan wouldn’t even eat take away.

Since Chu Nan knew how to cook, then how could Ruan Yan be willing to eat instant noodles?

He took out his phone:【Chu Nan~ I’ve finished changing, waiting for you to go together. From your cute Yan Yan [Sell Meng] [Sell Meng]】

He sent the message and thought that Chu Nan, with his fire breathing dragon temper, must be feeling extremely violent and frustrated right now.

Ruan Yan contemplated for a moment before editing his message: 【Chu Nan, I dreamt last night that you were angry again. Don’t always be angry, anger will harm your kidneys. You need to balance it out ah. Starting from tomorrow, I’ll bring you kidney supplements every day.】

Chu Nan was smashing things and beating the sand bag in the other room. His eyes completely red, and he dearly wished to find someone to replace the sand bag.

When he was too angry, he usually wouldn’t go hit people, in fear that he would beat them to death.

When Ran Yan’s message came over, Chu Nan was originally already annoyed to death, and this time, he almost smashed the phone.

Only when he saw the familiar contact did he hold up the phone and carefully look at it.

What to say?

Yan Yan could really calm down his emotions in a flash. Chu Nan gripped his phone tightly and thought, for the sake of Yan Yan, it really didn’t count for anything if he suffered a bit from Ruan Yan.

He once again saw Yan Yan’s caring message, and his heart turned to water. Yan Yan really did understand him and was so gentle, caring so much about his emotions.

It wasn’t like he could release his anger, being angry alone. But Yan Yan cared so much about the big things and the small things.

Chu Nan panted hoarsely as his eyes gradually turned clear, typing word by word: 【Yan Yan, anger harms the liver, not the kidney.】

His kidney was still as good as ever. (2)

Ruan Yan smiled slightly when he saw the reply, just like spring wind gently caressing past cold snow.

Of course he knew that anger harmed the liver, it was just done to avert Chu Nan’s attention ba.

Ruan Yan carefully replied: 【Then I’ll bring you liver detox every day. You can’t be angry ba.】

His message hadn’t even bent sent out for 3 seconds yet when Chu Nan walked in, face wooden, “What dishes do you want to eat?”

This was bowing his head for love.

Ruan Yan immediately recovered his icy, calm manner, “A meat dish and some soup. No chilli, thanks.”

Chu Nan didn’t even say a word in reply, busily going down to the kitchen to work.

His mum and dad didn’t want to raise a second generation spoiled brat, so when Chu Nan was young, they made him learn everything, finally inciting Chu Nan’s rebellious mentality.

Chu Nan familiarly took out two chunks of beef and fried them into steak before making a portion of mushroom soup, serving them.

Ruan Yan’s eyes brightened, “Your hand craft’s not bad.”

Chu Nan’s expression was ugly, “Eat quickly.”

It wasn’t for the sake of love and his gentle, understanding Yan Yan, then he wouldn’t be staying here to suffer this kind of humiliation.

Ruan Yan’s mood was pretty good, and even after being coldly rebutted, he replied cordially, “Why does your complexion look so terrible? If you don’t feel well, then you shouldn’t go out to play this afternoon. Just stay at home and rest.”

Chu Nan took a deep breath in, his lips drawing up in a soulless arc. His smile was even more frightening than a man-eating lion.

“Do you think my complexion’s good now?”

Ruan Yan: …

“En.” He lowered his eyes and focused on eating his steak.

Chu Nan had suppressed himself to this point in order to perform well, so there was no way for Ruan Yan not to agree to go to the haunted house.

When he calmly agreed to go to the haunted house, Chu Nan’s rogue, handsome features had revealed a repressed expression of extreme glee.

“Let’s go, I’ll drive.” Chu Nan tried his best not to reveal any flaws.

They arrived at the Chu Family’s private garage together.

No matter how rare it was, Ruan Yan had seen every kind of collector’s luxury car before. What attracted his attention was the blue motorbike to the right side of the garage.

The cold, icy lustre gave off the sense of perfect machinery (3), and added onto the top-notch outer design, it was enough cause any man’s heart to itch.

Chu Nan stood in front of a Ferrari, “Come in.”

Ruan Yan calmly said, “We only have two people, you can just ride the motorbike.”

Chu Nan had long gotten over his addiction with the motorbike.“There’ll be other people coming in a moment, we’re taking this one.”

His words weren’t detailed. In actuality, he wanted to take Yan Yan for a ride after visiting the haunted house.

This Ferrari model wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t very stimulating either, so it wouldn’t scare the little girl.

Although Ruan Yan pretended to keep his calm, but Chu Nan had long caught him sneaking glances at the motorbike.

But he didn’t want to go along with Ruan Yan, so he stood in front of the Ferrari refusing to move.

Ruan Yan said, “Are there girls amongst your friends? It’s such a pity, if there were girls, then this motorbike is so eye catching, they would definitely like it a lot.”

“Then we’ll take the motorbike.” Chu Nan didn’t hesitate at all. Thinking of Yan Yan looking at him with worship, he took down the helmet and handed another one to Ruan Yan.

Ruan Yan accepted the helmet with a calm expression, “En, it’s my first time riding a motorbike, go slowly.”

“Ok.” Chu Nan agreed beforehand.

Waiting until Ruan Yan followed him onto the motorbike and sat down steadily, his lips hooked up into an evil smile.

He could still back out of it before getting on the vehicle, so he still had to act cordially towards Ruan Yan.

But after getting on…

Chu Nan instantly turned to the highest speed, and the motorbike immediately sped out like a ship leaving port.

Translator’s Notes:

(1) A Chinese idiom featuring a famous person, Sima Zhao, in Chinese history during the Three Kingdoms period. Basically, he wanted to take the throne for himself, yet his actions were so transparent that it his ambitions were a well-known fact, even to the common populace

(2) Is anybody laughing with me at this part? >///<

(3) Basically means that it’s a perfectly modelled vehicle that’s reached the pinnacle of vehicular perfection… I don’t guarantee my explanation, but for a vehicle to be termed as such, apparently it has to have undergone renovations so that it has the best shape suited for its purpose, and that it’s durable… (???) Hm…
