Uchiha's Butterfly

"As of thirty minutes ago, the camp is in total lockdown, nothing goes in or out. Any more questions?" Genma asked his platoon.

"What does it mean we're dispatched with the third wave?" asked the green-haired boy.

"Each wave a big squadron of ninjas are sent, they're tasked with breaking enemy defensive lines and capturing their camp. We're lucky, as of yet always an almost entire first wave of the ninjas perishes, if one wave fails than another takes its place. We with another 25 platoons will be sent as the third wave, I hope our predecessors will bleed out our enemies and give as a chance for success. Anything else?"

"Who is in charge?" someone from the back voiced a question.

"Our squadron leader is Hizashi Hyuga, he tells each platoon their individual orders. I'm in charge of you if shit happens, and it most likely will I vote for Kana-chan to be second in command, you all have seen her sparing, and maybe Takeshi-kun if things get hairy, he is a Nara, I suppose he has a good head on his shoulders. Is that all?" Most of the platoon didn't voice any problems. There was only silent grunting coming from a group of older genins, that never had the talent to be promoted further.

"Genma, what can we expect on the frontlines?" Kaname asked.

"Hail of shurikens and kunais, an insane amount of elemental projectiles, dismembered bodies, lots and lots of chaos and blood. Our enemy is very experienced with their lightning-based attacks, so any wind jutsu attack you know is a good thing to have," seeing no further questions, Genma finished the debriefing with "Get some rest and prepare, we start at midnight."

"Kana-chan, promise us one thing. You must stay as close to possible to at least one of us, every time you go to one of your solos escapades you end one foot in the grave." Maki said, following Takeshi and Kaname to their platoon tent.

"I promise I will stay close to you for as long as possible."

"*growl* Knowing you, it won't be too long... "

Ten hours later, platoon 13 was ready in full combat equipment, the first wave of half a thousand ninjas just started their approach to the bridge that connected both countries. The bridge was barren, with no places to hide or take cover, attacking side was met with hundreds upon hundreds of projectiles, instantly taking lives of at least 60 of them. Konoha ninja couldn't retreat, showing their backs would end only in a massacre, so they pushed, the fight took about twenty minutes.

'So many lives lost in so little time…' thought Kaname, seeing the second wave preparing for the combat.

"How is it going Genma?" she asked.

"Not good, I hoped the first wave would break through at least one line of the defense, it seems the enemy was ready for an attack. If nothing bad happens, there is still a chance for our army to capture the enemy camp. And here goes the second wave, it looks like there are only single survivors left of the previous wave."

"Are there any other bridges across this ravine, is it possible to flank the enemy?"

"Not for hundreds of kilometers, the ravine is too steep and too wide for a big army to cross it any other way than this bridge. I got an update on the radio, they broke through the first line of defense, but the second wave is on the brink of collapsing. Platoon 13 prepare yourselves! We must clean the first defensive line of enemies, regroup with survivors and push!"

'Here we go.' Kaname thought, walking closer to her best friends.

Half a minute later the attack started, while she was running on the bridge she saw hundreds of dead bodies. Crossing the middle of it she started hearing the sounds of fighting, the stench of blood and death was strong even for her. And then it started.

Seeing one of the Konoha ninja surrounded by three enemies, she and her friends jumped into the chaos. Kaname with her blood-red eyes slashed with her katana at the closest enemy swiftly decapitating him, while still spinning from the force of her slash she sent a fireball through her mouth killing another ninja. At the same time, Takeshi bound 3 enemies with his Shadow, only for them to get crushed and drilled through by Maki-Hamimaru duo. Genma easily overpowered his enemies in taijutsu, and when another Kumo ninja tried to slow his killing spree down, he got shot with a senbon needle from Genma's mouth.

The enemy that was already tired from stopping two Konoha waves was flooded by the third one and was dealt with swiftly.

"Regroup on me, check your gear and we will push for the second line of the defense," ordered Genma through the radio.

"Good job so far, according to the orders we're on the left-wing, be careful of where you step, survivors told us about seals armed to activate when a chakra source draws near. Our squadron is moving, let's go."

After a minute of running uphill, Kaname saw a big camp five kilometers from her position, half the way she saw trenches full of Kumo ninjas getting ready to fend off an attack.

"Good luck friends." she heard Genma's voice from her headpiece. (AN: If you think they didn't have the tech, then check Naruto ch. 9, not my fault the author forgot about it later :-) )

Thanks to her eyes she has seen all lying traps on her way. Before anyone from her platoon activated a seal, she had thrown a shuriken cutting through the paper - deactivating it. On her left five of her platoon members died falling into a pit trap. Her new friends were pummeled with projectile blades from her right, harvesting even more bodies. A genin in front of her got cooked by a lightning bolt coming from the trenches, with her eyes she saw a fireball heading her way.

"Jump!" she called out to anyone behind her. She saved 3 lives as Takeshi, Maki, and Yugao were behind her, unfortunately, two older genins didn't hear her and got burned to death.

Kaname with a war cry jumped into the trench crouching and spinning her blade full circle chopping off two pairs of legs, and swiftly slicing the necks of her downed enemies. Right after Kaname, two drills got into the trench killing another Kumo ninjas. In couple seconds of a bloodbath, platoon 13 took a small part of the trench in the middle of it stood Kaname red from the blood of her enemies.

"Kaname we have new orders. Choose five ninjas that will go with you, west of us there is a single enemy shuriken artillery pummeling our main forces, we need a fast-moving team to deal with it. Can you do it?"

"Okay. Maki, Take-kun, Yugao, and Tiki Taki pair, with me!" Kaname called out to her friends and jumped out from the trenches heading behind the enemy lines.

"Hehehe, it's the first time you called me without a suffix Kana-chan," Maki said running just behind the Uchiha.

"Oups, sorry it was in the heat of the moment Maki-chan."

"Nah, I liked it, don't stop."

"Hey what about me?!" Takeshi interrupted them.

"Worry about that later, I see the enemy battery," Yugao said pointing her finger west. Upon a small hill was some kind of machine that shot house-sized shurikens one after the other - decimating Konoha troops.

From the south, Kaname saw the fourth and last wave of Konoha forces heading to aid the battle.

"I don't see anything on the other side of this hill, but the crew operating the artillery is minimal. I want Yugao to attack with me, we kill the crew as fast as possible, Take-kun I want you to stop anyone from leaving this hill. Maki, you and Hamimaru take care of the battery, find a way to destroy it. Tiki and Taki, I want you to keep our backs safe if you see any enemies give me a heads up. Ready?"

Kaname saw her friends give a nod of their heads, they jumped into action. The enemy wasn't ready for an attack, Kaname and Yugao killed four of them before their friends knew what is happening. After casting a genjutsu on one Kumo ninja and burning the other one, the last enemy turned tail and tried to run, only to be stopped by a shadow binding.

'We did it!' Kaname thought, being on the hill she scanned the battlefield with her Sharingan. Konoha ninjas were starting to break through in multiple places, their enemy was falling.

"Noo-!" she heard screaming from the radio, the voice belonging to one of the twins.

"What happened?!" she asked only to be met with silence.

"Shit, knowing my luck it's an ambush, come closer to me!" Kaname ordered.

Four genins were surrounded by a squad of 10 enemy ninja.

"Leave my friends alone, I will go with you without a fight!" Kaname loudly called out.

"No, every Konoha-dog will die on this battlefield today!" proclaimed a leader of an ambush unit.

"It was worth a try…" Kaname saw a glimpse of her enemy's eyes and instantly caught him into a genjutsu.

"Got their leader in genjutsu, on my mark smoke bombs and try to break through to the east and join our army" she whispered to her friends. She concentrated a lot of chakra into her lungs for the biggest fire jutsu she has ever done. Kaname gave a small hand sign to start their plan.

Below Kaname smoke bombs exploded giving her team a cover, at the same time ninja that Kaname caught under genjutsu started attacking one of his friends. The ball of fire Kaname created was the size of an a.d.u.l.t elephant, it went a straight line into an enemy hiding behind a tree instantly vaporizing him, the explosion of the fireball momentarily stunned two of his friends staying close.

Four Konoha ninja launched themselves through the opening Kaname did with her jutsu. Kaname tired herself with her last jutsu, her team was almost half-way when her jump was interrupted by an enemy.

'At least I will save them.' she thought, not giving her team any information that she was stopped.

"You bitch, I didn't feel that you caught me in a genjutsu. Now you are alone and surrounded! It's time for you to die." said dark-skinned bald jōnin.

"Destroy her!" he ordered.

From everywhere around her came a hail of blades, at least 7 elemental ninjutsu headed her way, with no possible way to block this Kaname, used <Kawarimi no Jutsu> replacing herself with a block of wood. Only to be met with a chakra powered punch to her face from one of her enemies, after regaining her consciousness a second later she was almost decapitated, and only thanks to her Sharingan she was able to dodge the fatal slash. Dodging it another blade drew blood slashing across her forehead. Because her eyes got clouded with her blood, she couldn't see an enemy standing behind her slashing with a tanto blade towards her neck.

At the last second, the slash stopped.

"What did you promise us Kana-chan?" she heard Takeshi's voice in her headpiece.

"Hehe, sorry? And thanks," she replied.

"I bound 5 of them, breakthrough and let's run. Maki and Yugao are on their way to get help."

"Have you got more smoke bombs? Throw them on my mark."

Kaname was still dodging the slashes when from a single hand seal and cloud of smoke, powered by additional smoke bombs, came out two of her clones.

"Shit! Someone helped her! Bunch of weaklings, if you want something done correctly, do it yourself!" enemy jōnin said.

"<Raiton: Bakurai>!" From his body shot a lightning bolt destroying all of Kaname's clones, the force of the jutsu has sent her flying. Kaname was on the ground from her small body drifted smoke trails, after the first shock she slowly regained her bearing of spasming muscles and tried to stand up.

"Though one… This time she won't dodge, kill her!" he ordered.

"Nooo!" screamed Takeshi.

From all around her elemental jutsus were shot, she closed her eyes waiting for the pain.

'Hah, at least I won't have to pay for Yakiniku Q…' but the pain never came, after two seconds of waiting, Kaname opened her eyes.

All projectiles stopped moving 3 steps from her, they were floating all around her. Her body was covered by a flaming, vermillion colored rib cage. Then she heard a voice she couldn't ever forget.

"Who the f.u.c.k drew the blood of this Little Squirt?!" an angry voice asked behind her.
