Chapter 54 - Harvet's Choices - Part 4

"Harvet?" Judith questioned with a raspy voice.

Harvet passed her a small water bottle. Seeing Judith awake, Harvet was able to regulate her breathing. This little girl needed her, as did many other children caught up within the Guild's schemes.

She latched onto the idea immediately to ground herself. It was strange, because while she felt disconnected from Uteu, she didn't feel like the connection was broken.

Furrowing her eyebrows, she decided to focus on Judith instead. She pat Judith on the top of her head when the little girl finished drinking her water.

"I still owe you an explanation about what happened to your father, don't I?"

Judith slowly nodded, her eyes looked at Harvet in slight suspicion. Harvet didn't take it to heart, it was probably strange to see a woman nearly fall apart and then suddenly calm, wanting to talk about her father.

"Yes but... what are we doing here? Where's Uteu? Why is..." Judith suddenly gasped.

"Why can't I feel-? Why does it feel like something is missing?" Tears gathered at the corner of her eyes and Harvet was quick to wipe them away.

"Your connection to Uteu was severed back in that metal sphere when you ran in to warn him about the man attacking us. I never should have let you in there, I'm sorry Judith." She tried to console the girl as best she could.

Harvet couldn't help but feel a bit awkward. She had greatly wronged this little girl in so many ways. She had even almost left her behind.

Harvet decided firmly. If Judith decided to stay with her to save the rest of these children she would finally tell her everything that happened between herself and Judith's father. Just as Judith's tears finally dried up, Harvet decided that it was a good a time as any to talk to her.

"Judith- the reason why we're here..."

Harvet was unable to complete her sentence as she had to quickly steady both herself and Judith. The white walls shook violently around them and Harvet could see a hint of blue on them. The illusion of the white wall fell through and she could clearly see the blue dome. It pulsed and cracked upwards.

Harvet wasn't sure what was going on for the dome to suddenly reveal itself like this, but she took it as a blessing that she didn't need to think about how to get in any longer.

A Thew's strength wasn't in their heads, it was in their muscles.

Taking advantage of the cracks, Harvet let Judith slip from her hold and onto her own two feet. Dashing forward, she slammed her body full force into the dome. Like glass, pieces of the dome clattered to the ground and shattered, revealing the darkness within.

Harvet dusted off the shards from her skirt, she could now see the platforms and stairs leading both upwards and downwards.

She gulped when she thought she could see blue bubbles within. Trying to distract herself, she turned around to look at Judith who was staring at the opening in bewilderment.

"Judith, Uteu gave me orders to find the Psyche children, all of them. Do you want to help or would you rather stay behind?"

Judith's brown eyes hardened at Harvet's words.

"Of course I want to help!" She didn't even hesitate as she jumped in through the cracked opening of the dome.

Harvet's mouth was still open, she had to close it awkwardly when she was unable to explain all of the risks.

She sighed, "Do you know where this is?"

"The dome. Papa told me about it. That people that go against the Guild go here. The children are being kept here? Papa told me how he couldn't figure out where they were."

Harvet was taken aback, completely taken off guard by Judith's answer. She had no idea that Jude shared her interest in finding the children. She clenched her fists, it didn't change the fact that the man had left her little brother and herself to die.

Either way, it was too late, far too late. She had already chosen and had done what she did to him based on her own beliefs. Nothing that she found out about Jude now could change it.

Judith was silent as she waited for Harvet to enter the dome with her. Her brown eyes seemed to be searching Harvet's face for something.

Not wanting to push her luck, Harvet climbed through the opening and steadied her footing on the platform.

Sure enough, the dome seemed to have kick started itself and it glowed. The broken pieces on the floor merged back into the dome, and the cracks fused back together. Looking at it now, Harvet wouldn't be able to tell where the cracks once were.

"Uteu mentioned that the children were deep below, under even the worst of the Guild's prisoners." Harvet began to explain to Judith.

Judith nodded and followed Harvet as they took the stairs that would lead them downwards.

"He said that they were being used to power up the dome. You know that these kids aren't here by choice right? They were all tricked or kidnapped to become tools for the Guild."

Judith slowly nodded again.

"Papa told me. He kept me away from the Guild as long as he could but Master Harkal eventually found out. He wasn't very happy when he found me."

Harvet noticed Judith quickly tire the lower they went down the stairs.

"I should... probably carry you?"

Judith nodded and climbed onto Harvet's back. Harvet could feel a familiar hot energy being inserted into her body. It felt different and odd now that she was getting directly amplified and not through her connection to Uteu.

"Hold on tight." Was the only warning she gave Judith before the muscle in her leg bulged and she leaped downwards.

Using the walls of the dome and the platforms, Harvet bounced the two of them down rapidly into the darkness. Her boots clunked noisily with her descent, but she didn't have the time to worry about making noise.

If the cell warden heard and came, she was ready for him.
