Unfortunate Romance

Chapter 10 - The Goddess that Delivered Lunch

Jiang Corporation headquarters was bustling with activity. Even on the first floor, people rushed about, papers and files in hand. She even saw a young intern stumbling with a stack of binders higher than her head.

Feng Ting mumbled. "This is why I work a home." She balanced the lunch pack in her hand are head toward the reception desk.

"Hello, I have an appointment with CEO Jiang."

The receptionist looked her over then passed a look at her colleague. Doubt was evident in their eyes. The young women was dressed casually in black with a white silver windbreaker. Pretty, but definitely not like someone who was here for business . . .

Her eyes fell to the package in the lady's hand. Inwardly, the receptionist frowned in disdain. Another woman who wanted to seduce the CEO. But she claimed to have a appointment so she should remain professional.

"May I have you name?" She asked politely.

"Miss Song."

The receptionist nodded. "Please wait in the lounge while I make the call."

Feng Ting settled herself on a chair and pulled out her tablet and pen. Might as well get some work done while she waited.

Around an hour later, a man hurried out of the elevator toward her. "Miss Song, apologies for the wait. I'm Assistant Wei Guang. CEO Jiang will meet you now."

He quickly ushered her into the elevator while the receptionist looked on in shock. Good thing she was polite to the lady. If the CEO's personal assistant came down to greet her, she must have been important!

Was the CEO getting a girlfriend?

Her mind drifted to the rumors . . . nah it couldn't be. Probably just a relative.

Meanwhile, Feng Ting smiled at Wei Guang who looked a little nervous. "No need panic Assistant Guang. I'm just delivering lunch after all. I'm sure CEO Jiang won't be mad if it's a little late."

Wei Guang smiled and nodded. On the inside, he was weeping though. He was in a meeting with the boss for the last three hours.

How was he to know that this great goddess came?! The look boss gave him after hearing Miss Song had waited for over an hour . . . he trembled.

Quickly leading her to the CEO's office, he smiled widely. "CEO Jiang is waiting for you inside."

Feng Ting blinked as she was lightly pushed inside and the door closed tightly behind her.

Inside the giant office, a handsome man sat at the desk. His fingers tapped away at the keyboard, eyes trained on the screen. A cold and dangerous chill filled the room.

Feng Ting smiled awkwardly. "CEO Jiang. I'm an Song Feng Ting. I have brought lunch as requested." She held up the pack in her hand.

"Hmm, place it on the table." He never once looked up at her, but he gestured at the sitting area.

Feng Ting pouted on the inside and began unpacking the food on the table. Humph, if you didn't want to do this why did you agree. Even if you want to use me to mislead your grandfather you should at least be more polite.

Once she finished setting up the food, she glanced back at the aloof man who was ignoring her.

So what if he was good looking? It must be that all that beauty was to make up for the rude personality inside. Grr, must resist urge to hit something.

"Um, everything's ready."

"Hmm."

"I'll start then," Feng Ting said hurriedly. The agreement was that she should send and stay with him for lunch, but never said how long. If she finished, she could leave right? Though it was a little rude, he started it!

So the faster she ate, the faster she can go!

Uncle Yang had sent her two bento boxes. She took one and opened it. The array of meat and vegetable dishes was pretty abundant and looked yummy. But it was so much . . .

She snuck a look at the man. Yep, still ignoring her. She smiled mischievously, and moved all the meat into his portion. Perfect.

She muttered a thank you for the food out of habit and dug in. As she ate, she opened her tablet and began editing some codes.

The room was awkwardly silent, with only the sounds of tapping keys and light munching. At one point, Wei Guang came in to deliver doc.u.ments and faltered at the scene. What was this?

He hastily retreated, detecting some strange tension in the air.

Soon, Feng Ting finished. She quickly packed up all her things. "CEO Jiang, once you finish eating, you can just discard the box. I'm done so I'll be leaving now."

She waved and made a beeline for the door handle. At the same time, an arm reached over her shoulder.

Bam! The door slammed shut. Feng Ting sweated as she could feel the figure behind her emitting an intense aura.

A low voice greeted her ear. "You're not leaving yet."
