After Jake bought a tower shield that granted him five points in willpower upon Mastery and an iron helmet that increased his mentality by the same amount, he got a new class. It was a bit of a pain to test so many combinations of items to get a class, but sometimes those surprises were quite addicting. The issue was that he couldn't quite tell what equipment he had tested or hadn't yet. That was probably a job that guilds were doing a better job categorizing those issues, but that wasn't the kind of information that they would easily share. Nevertheless, he will have to find a solution eventually.

"This was a big surprise… Nevertheless, even if it seems like a hassle, I should keep most kinds of the equipment with me and try some combinations that make sense between missions," Jake thought.

Putting that aside, it was already midnight, and Jake didn't find anything outside the dungeon. He kept his eyes and ears wide open to check if the liches would approach, but until now, he got nothing.

"Perhaps this will take a lot longer than I expected…" Jake thought.

The number of monsters around the dungeon didn't seem high, so Jake would guess that the dungeon never broke. Eventually, the liches would come to clear it, and that would be the perfect time to get some prisoners and ask them what he wanted to know, but that might take weeks as well. Jake didn't have that much free time to waste on a single mission.

"My condition still is fine, and I can recover all my energy between battles, still, I can only stay like this for one, perhaps two days, after that, the exhaustion will caught up with me," Jake thought. "I have to clear this dungeon and then look for the liches to make the most of the situation."

In the end, Jake waited until morning for something to happen, and since nothing happened during the night, it was hard to believe that the liches would come during the day. Most likely, they only come to kill the monsters of that dungeon once a week… If those creatures truly managed to take over the world after defeating many species, then they shouldn't have a problem killing a few thousand armadillos in a couple of hours.

After preparing some potions, Jake began to walk toward the last room of the dungeon, and since the place had many bifurcations, Jake found many dead ends, and in each one of them, he found an armadillo ready and waiting for him. Still, after half an hour, he finally found the final room, and the dungeon boss rolled on the ground like a giant armadillo. The monster was five meters long and two meters tall… A bit small if compared to the other bosses, but the dark carapace of the creature made it look like someone of the most fearsome as well. The carapace had a lot of spikes, and it made it look like the creature was the pet of a bike gang.

It was pretty obvious that Jake wouldn't be able to use that strategy against this one. In fact, Jake will probably lose his weapon if he attacks that carapace too many times. Fortunately, the creature had the same weakness as the other armadillos, but its speed was several times higher… Jake had to consider his options before fighting that thing.

"Using my shield to block the charge of that thing will be the same as ask to be smashed or being run over by that…" Jake thought. "So, perhaps I should use two swords to cause more damage when I find the chance to counter attack…"

It was a pretty risky plan, but against that kind of opponent, it was better to go on the offense… Long fights would give Jake more chances to make mistakes, after all. After checking his skills, Jake had a certain idea. If it works, he will manage to cause a lot of damage, and he will also make the monster lose its mobility for quite a while. However, as usual, it would be a gamble.

"No pain, no gain… I suppose," Jake thought and then shrugged. "I can't see the skills of that thing, but it shouldn't be much different from the ordinary armadillos, so it will be fine."

After Jake finished the simulations in his mind, he decided to move and put his plan in motion. As expected, the very moment he stepped inside the last room, the dungeon boss began to glare at him, and its body also started to roll in the same place without moving. It was quite weird that the creature could gain speed like that… Nevertheless, Jake didn't have time to be surprised. The monster charged at him, and the boss was faster than the ordinary monsters.

As usual, Jake jumped to the side when the monster got too close, but the beast also reacted in time to change its course. That was within Jake's predictions, so he dashed forward to avoid being hit. In the end, his plan worked, but he didn't have the chance to attack the monster. Still, Jake let the same thing happen again and again until he got a good feeling of the speed and the range of the monsters. After that, he put his real plan in motion.
