Unloved: The Abandoned Beauty

Chapter 25 - 24: Success?

Colette sneaked a glance at Chris' face, to check his reaction.

Though, she was ultimately distracted by his sharp jawline which was drawing her in with his smooth clear skin. She wanted to run her finger over his jawline.

'Ah! Stop that Colette. You creep, what would he think!'

Seeing Colette gawk at him, Chris turned and smiled at her. Making her flustered and change the topic.

"Would you like a drink of water? You must be parched, there's a stream nearby." Walking to a tree with leaves larger than an ȧduŀt's face, she tore off a leaf.

She accelerated her walking pace and turned left, onto another cleared path. One of which she regularly maintains through pruning stray leaves and branches.

Watching her small back from behind, he felt that she was too adorable. She had an innocent interior weakly shielded by a cold exterior, very different from when they first met.

His first impression of her was akin to an iron-faced bodyguard. He chuckled at his then and now impression.

Though he wondered what prompted her change.

Colette squatted by the stream, scooping water up in the leaf skilfully, before passing it to Chris. Who clumsily spilt a portion of the fresh water and glanced back at Colette embarrassedly.

"Sorry, I-"

"It's ok, I forgot to consider that you're not used to using a leaf-like me. Just scoop the water up with your hands." Colette spewed out before Chris could finish his apology.

'His blushing face is so cute! AHHH my heart is beating so hard. I want him to kabedon me ahhhhh.' Colette squealed internally but was interrupted by Chris' exclamation,

"Wow! The water is so sweet!" To which Colette replied with an "Oh, really?"

After all, Colette had been on the island for so long, she had grown used to the taste of the water.

The two arrive at Colette's tree hut.

Chris was seated on a log as Colette contemplated about accommodation of Chris. She has built a few small huts, however, she used them to store equipment, materials and food.

Another problem was how she would protect herself against him.

Although having a fairly positive opinion of him, he may turn out to be different from what he has displayed on the surface so far. The human brain can create false memories too. What if everything she "remembered" about him was wrong?

Her memory has been in a terrible state ever since she arrived so she wouldn't trust it. She should remain wary lest he tries something but that was hard. Her huts were easy to penetrate as she had no threats on the island anymore. So she never bothered to enforce them in any way. .

"I don't quite trust you yet. So I'm going to have to tie you to a tree when we sleep." Colette told him straightforwardly.

While Chris was wondering why she was frowning, it was his turn to frown.

No one would appreciate being told that they'd be partially restrained while resting. But nevertheless, he understood her worries and chose to comply. As he was visually threatening; a larger psyche, more muscle mass, handsome and etc...

"Alright, I understand. But you better not be a predator to me instead hahaha." Chris joked.

"That won't happen."

With the sleeping arrangements out of the way, Colette began to prepare dinner. Which was mostly comprised of fruits and leafy greens that were stir fried with some roots and chilli, for an extra punch.

Colette served the food in some coconut bowls, then sliced a passionfruit and scooped some of the inside out into both bowls.

While Chris stared at her, questioningly, as if asking 'will it taste good together?'.

But Colette simply urged him to try it without replying, by passing a pair of chopsticks she made.

To which he took stirred the stir fry with.. Looking back at Colette hesitantly, Chris picked some up and slowly placed it in his mouth, wary of the taste.
