Unrivalled - Naruto

Chapter 4 - New Moves...

Naruto woke up next day feeling itchy from the mosquitoes and insect bites all over his body. He washed his face in the small cave pond to freshen up his mood.

"I need a proper bed… this stone floor sucks… this whole jungle sucks... living in the wilderness feels so cool when you watch it on TV. It sucks in real life though..." Naruto muttered under his breath. Looking at the frustrated look on his face in the reflection on the water, he suddenly remembered the wolf incident.

Yesterday he had realized how pathetic his strength is when compared to other creatures of this world. He wanted more combat power.

Naruto sat down at the edge of the cave looking down at the huge expanse of forest.

"Yuna, show me my status."

"It's good enough for now I guess…" Naruto looked at the tree with a satisfied smile.

("With the help of , killing those wolf-like beasts should be fairly simple as the technique has a formidable penetrating power. I can at least effectively shut down their internal organs if not directly kill them in one shot.

However... this technique has a really big flaw. The amount of qi required is just ridiculous. According to Yuna, the total amount of qi inside my body depends on my Qi cultivation rank. This is the main thing that is holding me back. I am merely at 4-star Bronze rank... I need to improve it fast...)

Naruto sat down back inside the cave in a meditative stance and tried to feel the energy around him. He could immediately feel the dense Qi in the air. He could feel the powerful Qi that seemed to be coming from deep inside the cave.

("What is going on? How come I did not feel such a terrifying qi before. I have been living in this cave for the past two days...") Naruto stood up alarmed at what he felt.

("Mmmh... no... unlike before when I felt that ape-like creature coming towards me, I did not feel anything. Is this because there is no direct danger? Maybe there is some secret or some hidden treasure... should I explore and see what is inside? No... how can I forget... this body originally belonged to the Ancient Bone-demon emperor. If a guy with a name like that died here then that means this place is dangerous. I am still weak and I know nothing about this world. Perhaps one day I will come to check it out...") Naruto once again sat back down and started meditating.

He was rapidly absorbing the pure dense Qi in the air as he felt his body heating up. In no more than a few minutes, he had reached his limit. Naruto leaned against the wall as he removed his shirt. He was completely drenched in sweat.

("This cultivation thing is hard... It's like doing maths while swimming... You need the full focus of your mind as well as your body at the same time. Apart from that, the heat it generates is just stupidly painful. I have had enough for today, I will do this tomorrow...")

It was evening now and the sun had started to set. Naruto sat at the edge of the cave on the cliff looking at the beautiful sunset. He had spent a few hours furnishing the cave a little bit by adding a makeshift bed and a chair.

"Yuna, please open the status window."

Naruto was feeling good about himself looking at the status screen when he suddenly remembered the wolf pack from before. His smile froze as he clenched his fist.

"I once stood at the peak of the world. I have fought everything from a small rabbit to a fearsome dragon. For me to be afraid of a mere wolf..." He had literally run away with a tail between his legs. He hated it to the bone. To hide like a coward… he hated it. He was not a fool and understood that he had to do what he did for protecting his life. However, his pride was hurt. Every single person who stands on top of the world in any aspect takes pride in his achievements and he was no different. Just remembering the helpless feeling he got when looking at the wolf was enough to have him bury his head in shame.

"I will find you, and I WILL KILL YOU. Time to get some dog meat…" Naruto muttered under his breath as he walked back to the cave.
