After finishing off our assault on the third and last city occupied by the demons before landing on the capital, the amount of Experience Points administrated was just as high as I had expected.

Not only I gained 11 Levels, but I gained a few other strengths, namely my Demonic Arm gaining an interesting new ability as it devoured the Demon Lords and most of what remained of Christine.

These Golden Scales combined all the defensive powers of previous Demonic Arm abilities and were reinforced through Demonic Energy and Ki, making them extremely durable.

They will become interesting materials I'll use for future weapons and armor, that's for sure… Also, the Devouring Jaws of Gluttony is an improved, refined version of the abilities I was already unleashing through my Gluttony Authority combined with my Demonic Arm.

I was rather surprised none of these Demonic Humans had a Demonic Eye with them, seeing how they constantly were bragging of being high ranking or whatever… I guess these eyes are not given out to humans so easily and are usually reserved to demons.

Perhaps the Demon Overlord will have something that could be of some use. I won't underestimate him either, these easy victories haven't made me conceited, I'll prepare all I have and go completely all-out against him.

Honestly, I am hoping it will be a hard battle, a Demon Overlord is a being comparable to A Rank Monsters, creatures with the strength to destroy entire cities who usually only appear as Dungeon Bosses of very hard Dungeons.

As I assessed my gains, I stored every demon corpse I could find inside my Inventory, saving them as precious materials for later, after having absorbed some of Christine's flesh, Elizabeth and Erika purified the ruined city.

The survivors were less this time, barely two hundred, seems like the demons were having a field day here. Good thing they died as agonizingly as possible, or it wouldn't had been fair, isn't it?

"And there they go…" Erika sighed, as she watched the survivors leave after a brief talk with Monica, flying on top of the Draco squad I had designed to evacuate people back to her territory.

"This should be the last… Well, perhaps there'll be some survivors in the capital." I said. "The Prince and Princess are alive back at Darkage's Territory, but we don't know what has been of the King, the Queen, or anybody else."

"Hmm…" Erika sighed, feeling slightly saddened.

She has seen a lot of bloodshed and destruction, this is perhaps the first time we experience war on its totality, it is much different than what we went through back in the village, and not near as similar as conquering a Dungeon.

Amidst the demon corpses, there were many human corpses everywhere. Their bodies cut down to pieces, large areas underground filled with their bones, still with some flesh stuck to them. Barrels after barrels of human blood the demons used to drink every day, as if it were water to them.

These things, I simply cannot hide from them. It is necessary for them to see the atrocities of war and everything, so they can further develop their resolve.

But it is also normal for their minds to deteriorate over time… I cannot blame her for feeling so down, despite having taken revenge against the demonic humans, still… this is a lot to take in.

"Don't worry, things will end soon." I sighed, giving her a hug, as Erika's blood covered body remained silent and still.

It felt like her mind had gone somewhere else. It was a rather bizarre and saddening sight, as she had always been such a sweet and energetic girl.

I suddenly heard her fists gripping hard, as she nodded and finally glanced back at me, her eyes finally glowing brightly, tears started flowing from her eyes…

"Will you stop this? Will you help… will you save our world?" She started crying. "I'll keep fighting and bearing with it… but do you promise me that… this will stop one day?"

"Erika…" I muttered, feeling surprised of these bold words.

Not even I am so sure… But I cannot just act unsure in front of her.

"I do, of course. We're fighting for a reason." I smiled, cleaning her face with my hand, and giving her a kiss in her slightly dry lips. "I'll save this world- no, we'll do it together. So… I also want to ask you something in return."

"S-Something?" She wondered.

"I want you to keep smiling and being the same you've always been. Your personality, your voice, and how you are brightens my day, and pushes me to keep going." I laughed. "Never stop being who you are, Erika."

"B-Blake…" Erika sighed, as I dried her tears with a clean handkerchief. "Sure, that doesn't look so hard! Hehe…"

She smiled sweetly, giggling adorably.
