Voyage To The Past

Chapter 9 - Legit self-defense

"IMPOSSIBLE!!"

Captain Davis is screaming behind the periscope. He saw the torpedoes just passing the ship without making any damage at all.

"This can't be true! How…how that ship can move so fast only in minutes count"

The sight when the target ship change from the still state into full moving imprinted deep in Captain Davis mind. He won't believe it but he saw it with his own eyes.

"WHAT??? Our torpedoes missed, captain?"

The crew on the submarine can't see it without periscope, they only guess it by watching captain Davis' reaction. Their sight changed to the sonar crew, like want to ask confirmation. The sonar crew just nodded before speaking,

"There're neither impact sounds nor explosion from torpedoes hit"

After hearing the confirmation from sonar crew, the rest of the crew now believe what they just hear from the captain Davis' mouth.

"Hurry, it's no time to get fl.u.s.tered. Prepare to launch the 3, 4, 5 and 6 torpedoes. I don't believe they can escape from 4 torpedoes fired at once"

"Aye, captain!"

"Torpedo no. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are ready, captain!"

"Fire! Widespread release! Don't give them any room for maneuver! Reload after fire, and load rear launcher too"

Four torpedoes released again from USS Flying ship.

-----------

"Captain! It's another incoming torpedo! Four of them! Wide trajectory"

"We evade them! Full rudders! Where's the position of that sub?"

"Deep 10 m, orientation 1.9.2, distance 4000 m. it following us with 6 knots speed"

"Stay on evasion move in full speed, get her on parallel position with incoming torpedoes"

"Captain! Seaplane coming from northwest distance 2000 m"

"Damn! Our guest coming in a bad time, we can't receive our guest in such a situation. Alright, since they attacked us first, it's legit self-defense then. Launch ASROC!"

"Bridge to CIC, prepare to launch ASROC!"

"Aye, sir! Collecting enemy data….bearing 0.8.2 distance 4100 m, deep 10 m. ASROC VSL Data complete, ready to fire anytime, sir!"

"Fire!"

With a touch on the launch button, a tube launcher in the deck opened and ASROC torpedo launched from Kurama, heading to the target, enemy submarine that just launched an attack on Kurama.

The crew in the bridge and captain Ichiro watch the ASROC launcher, leaving smokes trails on its way to the enemy submarine.

"Captain….is that alright?"

"What do you mean, Yusuke?"

"By launching ASROC and strike that submarine, we already alter the history we know, Captain"

"Yes, I aware that…but if we're not neutralized that submarine, more sh.i.p.s will come after us later. About changing history…well, we have to do it or we just become history itself here. Even we had to alter the history, at least we do it for our own survival"

"If that so…I hope it won't change Japan too much from Japan we know"

"I only hope Japan wouldn't become worse than Japan we know, Yusuke. If Japan becomes better than Japan we know, it would be the best result, right? Maybe there'll be no more foreign army roaming in our land freely"

"I hope so too, Captain"

-------

In the nearby aerial space, a seaplane is coming closer to the scene

"We almost arrived, Admiral. I see a ship in ten o'clock direction"

"Ohh…is that the ship? It does not resemble any current Japan ship really"

"Admiral, they're on maneuvering! They probably under attack!"

"Huh? Where're the binoculars?"

"It's under the seat, Sir"

"Oh, I found it….What! Torpedoes wake….they're on battle with enemy submarine"

"Admiral! Something comes out from that ship!"

The pilot and passenger in the seaplane were surprised when suddenly ASROC launched from Kurama.

"Whaa….what is that, Sir?"

"Whoaa! Is that some kind of rocket? Sawamura, don't land the seaplane yet, keep flying and circling the ship. I want to know and see what will happen next"

"Yes, Sir"

Both of them keep their sight on ASROC that flying to U.S submarine position, they want to know what happens next to that unknown launched object. The Imperial Japan Navy's seaplane which carries Admiral Yamamoto is still flying when the ASROC open its parachute and slowly descend to the water.

"Sir, are we had such a weapon?"

"Sawamura, I want you to keep silent over whatever you see here. Never say anything about you just saw back there. That's an order!"

"Y...Yes, Sir!"

Admiral Yamamoto knows that if those high ups in the headquarter see what Kurama capable to do, it would causing undesirable event for him and Kurama crews. Until he personally meet with those in charge in that ship and reach an agreement, secrecy is the best policy.
