Warcraft: Empires Of Blood

Chapter 2 - Unusual Hope – 1

(Alexander's POV)

After writing all the needed orders in paper, I give the orders to Lucia and she walks out immediately. I sit on my chair, running my hands through my hair. Ugh, my head hurts. F.u.c.k.i.n.g hell, I can't fight a war right now… I could put traps on the field… ugh, my head… what the f.u.c.k?

I hold my head in my hands as my head hurts like hell, as if my skull would simply pop, splattering my brain all over the room. However, instead of that happening, a feminine, sweet voice sounded inside my brain.

[Installing protocol.......... Installation concluded.]

[Welcome, host, to the Warcraft Interface!]

Instantly, the pain stops, and I lean back on my chair, breathing heavily as cold sweat poured out of my body. Warcraft… Interface?

[Once again, Welcome, Host Alexander Warhorn, to the Warcraft Interface! The optimal way to conquer with armies of old by your side!]

Am I having a hallucination right now? I'm seeing a warcraft 3 style window floating in front of my face right now. What the f.u.c.k is happening?

[You have been chosen to wield the powerful armies of Azeroth! Your first town center and hero summoning will be for free! As a bonus, you will receive two thousand gold as a bonus!]

[Options:]

[Great Hall (Orcs)]

[Town Hall (Humans)]

[Necropolis (Scourge)]

[Tree of Life (Night Elves)]

What? Wait, these buildings… from Warcraft 3? I don't think this is possible, but… this makes me remember some novels I used to read in my previous life. Is it even possible? I can't survive with the army that I have right now, and I can't hold for a year long siege…

I have to risk it. but I can't just raise a base our of nowhere… even more near the city… wait, the pass behind the city! It has been a popular spot for bandits since ancient times of the kingdom, and because of that my family has flourished as a long lineage of military commanders, and we have soldiers that are quite high in quality.

Even I, last year, and while father was out in wars, have leaded incursions to clear out bandits. Because of me, the security on the forest pass is quite good, even though there are some bandit camps that I have to yet root out.

And there's this clearing… yes, it's quite a big space. I get out of my office, heading to my own room quickly, going by a maid in the way.

- Get Lucia to meet me at the stables immediately, and get my horse prepared. – I told the maid. I think that I was making a scary face, since she flinched and bowed, mumbling something about yes my lord. And now, in my room, I change clothes to something more suited for the outside.

Heavy pants and heavy black leather boots, a thick shirt and a black overcoat made of leather. I also take my mantle and my sword, hurrying to the stables, where Lucia is already waiting for me, holding the reins of my horse and dressed in a thick mantle.

- My Lord! – She says when she spots me. I approach, taking the reins of my horse.

- it's a bit sudden, but I have to do something in the forest of the pass… - I say, mounting my horse. Lucia hands me a lamp that she was holding on, already lit. – I'll be back before down, or by tomorrow evening in the latest. – I turn my horse, a pitch black battle horse, to the gates that the servants are opening, and look down to Lucia as I hang the lantern on the saddle. – Wish me luck.

She nods. – Good luck, My Lord.

With that, I ride off in the night, outside the mansion's walls, and to the gates of the town. The guards are awake, as expected of them, even if it's the east gate, to the pass of the forest. I order the gates to be opened, and as ordered, they open, and I ride off in the night, making my horse run as fast as possible for three whole hours.

By that point, I'm already fairly deep in the forest road, surrounded by tall hills with extremely steep, so much that just the fact that there are trees growing make the hills impossible to climb, some places being a straight up wall, making this pass quite a linear one with fifty meters from edge to edge of the clear way covered in grass.

However, the reason this place is popular among bandits is because there is a fair bit of forest surrounding this place, and if you your way, you can get on top of the fifty meters natural walls. This path extends for three days on horse, just behind my city, leading from there to a pretty dangerous forest on the other side.

But I'm not going to cross the pass, I direct my horse to the forest to my right. I have to be careful, there's wolves in these woods, and coyotes as well, and they fight for territory somewhat often, causing problems for farmers near the forest.

By sheer luck, I don't meet any packs on my way as I go deep in the forest for several minutes, the land turning steeper and steeper. I drop from my horse, guiding it with the reins. After all, there are too many trees to guide the horse safely from its back.

After a fairly long time walking, I arrive at the base of a particularly steep hill. I know this place from my childhood with my father, we hunted here a few times. Although it's not far from the city, it's quite hidden, a few hours walking from town.

The dangerous surroundings, difficult terrain and thick woods help to keep this place away from any prying eyes. The space is quite large, from the center of the clearing to the edge of the forest and the foot of the hill should be around one hundred and fifty meters.

I approach the hill, tying dismounting and tying the horse to one of the trees. Alright, it's time. I look up to the face of the hill, feeling skeptical, but with some unusual hope in my heart. With a thought, the interface appears one again, showing me the options. Alright, if this works, I will need to be strategic about this.

Let me see, human units are well rounded, but not too strong in something specific, and they are powerful with the late game units, but I don't know what I can do with this, better no risk it. The Scourge are a bit no-no, they would scare my own city way too much, and create some nasty rumors about me.

I also cannot depend on the Night Elves, they are ranged mainly, and although they are a great advantage in several ways, they aren't what's going to save my city. That only leaves me with the last option, the Orcs.

Brutes, and strong on the early game, great melee fighters that can be used in a variety of ways. They will be perfect, even though I was a Scourge main back in the day. With that, I say out loud without hesitating:

- Build [Great Hall]!

[Great Hall is being build, permission for other races locked. Your first Altar of Storms will be free, as well the first barracks and first three Orc Burrows. You will receive a free bonus of 200 gold. Good luck Warchief!]

The ground rumbles and starts shaking. I take a step back, surprised, the point where I envisioned the Great Hall to be build, with it's back on the cliff and the entrance pointed to the forest. The ground swells, and grass and dirt breaks, revealing a red roof. And from the ground, a massive Great Hall raises. This thing is massive! At least twenty meters tall! And with two floors no less!

[Great Hall building has been concluded. From now on, the interface will serve as a unit and resource production management.]

Oh, I see. Let's see… oh, look, I have two hundred gold. That's a lot, actually, enough for a few families to live for a while. It seems that I can produce peons for gold, and they cost 5 gold each. So with this amount of gold I could produce around 40 of them, I believe. For now, I'll make just six, so that will be 30 gold, leaving me with 170 gold.

I walk to the front of the great Hall while thinking about that. Before making the Peons, I want to take a look inside. And what I see is quite cool actually! I see a great hall, with a tribal throne like that of WOW in the end of it, with tables for feasting, all in a tribal style. There is also a kitchen, that apparently spawns infinite food, an armory with a set of armor and weapons exactly for my size.

Well, it's made of simple iron, but it's a better plate than the one I have at home. it looks like one of those fantasy armors, a heavy plate that allows free movement and made with modern technique. The sword is better than the one that I have, although a bit bigger and heavier, made for war instead of occasional fencing and fighting animals. There's also a shield, war axe, axe, hammer, etc.

Not that I use those weapons, but well. There is also stairs behind the throne, well hidden ones. With a short climb, I get to the second floor, arriving on a luxurious room, with a king-sized bed, and although it's quite tribal, it's also quite comfortable. The room is also big, with a dressed, drawer, clothes rack, a full body mirror and a balcony.

I nod to myself, going down the stairs as I order the creation of the six peons. And in front of my new throne, a bright golden light shine, and a silhouette starts to appear. Yep, that's a peon alright. The silhouette is quite distinct, a brutish orc as seen in the games. I can even see hints of the green skin, but the light is blocking most of finer details.

Apparently, it'll take around 20 minutes for a peon to be produced, so I'll go outside and summon another building, the only one that I'll be able to build without the Peons. Alright, where would an Altar of storms would be a good placement? Well, this isn't a base in warcraft 3, so I guess I could be aesthetic instead of efficient. I'll out it just in front of the Great Hall, facing the entrance.

- Build [Altar of Storms]!

[Altar of Storms is being built. With base buildings done, you have being assigned a patent Scout! At the moment, you are allowed the following]

[No permission for mounted, ranged or siege units. Unit limit: 0/500]

[Honor Points are now available. They are gathered at victorious battles and defeating enemy commanders in single combat! By gathering Honor Points, you will be able to raise your patent!]

[Honor Points till next patent: 0/1000]

Alright, seems pretty legit, just like a game. But scout, is this the vanilla honor system? As I think about this, the ground rumbles and starts to break as something starts to raise from the ground. It's… surprisingly big, actually. It raises to 30 meters, and it's appearance shocks me.

A flight of stone stairs, rising to an altar. Two giant stone wolves, with angry faces side the stairs, with massive chains on their collars. Those chains lead to a pair of stone hands, those hands being of a giant statue of a man… me.

The statue is strangely accurate, even to my hair. It depicts me with an angry face, wearing a skirt showing only my upper body, n.a.k.e.d. The muscles are exactly as mine, chiseled muscles, even veins. Not only that, two red streaks come down from the eyes of the statue, going down my c.h.e.s.t and surrounding the altar. The status stares down angrily, to the stone altar.

With that, I see the summoning list, I can either summon a Blademaster, Far Seer, Tauren Chieftain and a Shadow Hunter. I scratch my chin, thinking. All of these have their advantages, but for now, I need a fighter that I can disguised as a human. Therefore, I make my choice, summoning a Blademaster.

[You have chosen your first hero. You have achieved level 1! From now on, you can learn new skills from summoned heroes for reach level!]
