Warped Reality

Chapter 36 - Unleashing Evil Katherine

"W-where is she now?" I asked softly and with a little sadness pinching my heart.

"She got herself tangled up with an abusive partner. They had an accident while the man she's with was driving while drunk." Ivano supplied before drawing me tighter against his c.h.e.s.t and kissing my cheek.

"It's alright." I smiled down at him. "I'm fine. I'm only sad not knowing her at all but you just really can't miss someone you never really met."

"I want you to know that even without family, I never let you feel abandoned and alone, sweetheart."

"Yeah..." I snickered before glancing to Kevin. "But you sent a cold warlock to be my parent."

"You're being ungrateful, Stella." Kevin chided with a hint of smile on his lips before he went serious again. "The sun is already up."

"Let's go." Ivano said so I slid off from his l.a.p before he stood.

"W-what... What will I do? Where should I go?" I stammered in an instant nervousness.

"At the west wing of the third floor is a solarium. Stay there until we get to you."

I nodded as we all paraded upstairs into the third level of the house. Both vampires were chatting away their plans but I was lost in my own thoughts. Why the heck would a vampire's house have a solarium when he's obviously allergic to any kind of light? Was Ivano being a joker? My musing was eventually halted when both men stopped just outside the double doors.

"Get in, sweetheart. We can't go through that doors anymore without getting burn. Remember not to open the doors no matter what if you don't hear our voice outside, ok?"

"O-ok." I nodded in a daze before they turned around. "Wait..." I licked my lips and looked at Kevin. "Don't you have any potion or spell that'll keep me awake? I'm starting to doubt myself if I can really avoid from dozing off despite feeling terrified right now."

"There's no potion like that. You need to drink a lot of coffee." Kevin answered.

I only shook my head at his poor attempt to make things sound light. But I knew deep in my gut that this endeavor would be bloody and dangerous.

"Just be careful, ok." I told them. "Both of you."

Kevin nodded before turning around while Ivano pulled my nape to kiss me deeply on the mouth. I couldn't stop the whimper as our lips touched. Fear and anxiety were mixing together as I responded to Ivano's kiss.

"Don't worry so much, sweetheart. We'll make it fast. I'm sure it won't be that bad."

"I hope so." I couldn't help but kissed him again, deep and urgent before letting him go. "I love you."

"And I love you." Ivano smiled before leaving me outside the doors of the solarium.

Once they both disappeared from my sight, I opened the thick double paneled doors and squinted at the beaming morning sun that streamed through the glass walls around the room. The four seasoned solarium was so spacious and beautiful with a massive Jacuzzi at the corner wall and a sitting area at the other. There's a pool table at the center and two comfortable hammocks located near the glass windows that's facing the entire city below. I gasped at how spectacular the view here was. I thought I loved the colossal library before, but this one just slayed all the rooms in this house.

I raised my head and closed my eyes to feel the sun on my face and smiled. It seemed like forever since the last time I felt the sun on my face. I've never really been out of Ivano's house since I arrived here and the warm sun was a welcoming bite on my skin. I sighed and opened my eyes before going into the hammock.

I sat and swayed a little while looking into the city down below. I imagined Ivano standing here as he looked over the city as if he's the Lord and the ruler of the people. I jumped from my silent reverie at the horrible scream I heard outside the doors. I swiftly turned to look at the doors over my shoulder as if expecting it to burst open.
