Chapter 3 - Demons of the Abyss

Sam's eyes wandered upon the three of them, fully aware of being powerless. He was unsure of his actions. Pausing on the ground, he thought of an effective plan. Since he wasn't capable of fighting, he could use his brain to manipulate them. That's it, he thought. He had an extensive knowledge about the game Mobile Legends, and this could be his advantage among them.

Sam lifted his head as he flashes a glaring look. He brushed down his brown locks before turning his eyes to Miya "How dare you...accusing me a spy from that deadly abyss" He begun speaking "We all know how terrible that place is, and your accusation of me about being one of those heartless demons really upset me now" He said before raising an eyebrow. Miya seemed to acknowledge his words, as she slowly lowered her weapon.

"I-I'm not being careful with my words, sorry. I'm just afraid about the existing war" she said in an apologetic tone of voice. The rest of them eventually hauled down their weapons and frowned.

"What war?" Sam asked.

"The seal of the abyss is getting weaker now, and the demons were being unleashed from their captivity" Nana explained as she sighed. Alucard cleared his throat as they looked upon him.

"We really need to get going, you know. We have no much time left. We have to join forces in order to survive" Alucard stated with a serious tone of voice. Sam could tell how serious the situation is, all these facial expressions with visible sorrow and unwillingness to fight. He had to do something.

"So, where are we going now?" Miya asked as she tilted her body, facing Alucard. She waved her plams and suddenly, her bow vanished.

"I'm heading to Moniyan Empire and join Tigreal's army. I finally made up my mind and decided to move on for my parents' death" Alucard explained.

"Wise choice" Miya commended as she nodded, switching her view from Alucard to Sam and Nana. "Let's get going Nana. And you. who are you?"

"My name is Sam, and I'm a human"

"Come with us, you might need some company" She said before turning her head back to Alucard again. "Let's go"

The wind was ceaselessly blowing as the trees from the leaves were continuously falling, corresponding the same direction of the wind heading north. On the far side of the Eastern Lands was a great enchanted waterfall from a vast mountain. Everyone worshipped the place as it could miraculously heal wounds just by taking a bath on it's crystal clear water.

At the extremity of the mountain was a woman with naturally pale purple skin. She had the eyes of a fierce terrier, as if it was seeking for a desperate revenge and justice. On her hands was a weapon, known to be the twin moonshadow blades. She would close her eyes before reopening again as she would let out a sigh of exhaustedness. She knew how hopeless she was now. She had nothing but the living strength and determination underneath her soul, trying to fight for what she have. But the only person she loved the most was sacrificed to the shadow abyss, and she was unaware about the existing state of her beloved sister, Selena. No one knows if she was still alive.

"I will bring justice for you, my sister" Karina whispered, gripping her moonshadow blade tightly. Some soft thuds caught her attention as she glanced upon the moving bushes behind her.

"Who's there?" she asked, raising the tone of her voice. Suddenly, the active bushes were now still and steady and all she could hear was the whispers of the wind.

She readied herself for an immediate action. Her moonshadow blades produced some kind of illumination, making her whole body almost invisible. She immediately sped up, running towards the bushes but a noticeable black smoke fumed out of the plants. Some kind of dark energy begun to build up as it burst out and exploded, throwing Karina's body away.

"Your time has come. This is your fate" A deep tone of voice uttered. Karina's eyes widened, realizing the words that came into her ears.

"No, I will never become part of the abyss!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. The dark smoke then compressed together, forming a structure of a human body.

"Your fate.....is to become the doom duelist!" the demon sprinted towards Karina as she stood up and brought back her posture once again.

"This is for you, my sister" she whispered. She swung her moonshadow blade in the air, making her body less visible. Something hit her arm, a sword from the demon trying to attack her. But she became elusive. With a superhuman speed, she dashed behind the demon as she brandished her weapon. She successfully shred the demon's body into pieces but she knew it wasn't over. Once again, the demon brought back to life, maintaining the deadly grin on it's face.

"Your strength....is what I needed!" it said before letting out a sinister laugh. The demon was about to attack again but something hit it's head. An arrow.

Miya came out of the trees. Behind her was Alucard, Nana and Sam.

"Move" she instructed. Karina sped up and run backwards as Miya launch a rapid fire of arrows. The demon's body eventually become covered with ice, making it motionless. Karina took this opportunity to finish the fight as she dashed forward and executed her skill 'Shadow Rush'.

As soon as the demon faded, Karina flashes a smile of thankfulness towards them as they grin in return. She walked towards their direction, maintaining her sincere smile. She lowered her weapon before looking at them.

"Thank you for saving my life" She said

"You're welcome, it's our p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to help" Miya spoke as Karina gazed upon her and noticed her long, white ears.

"You're one of the Moon Elves?" Karina asked in surprise.

"Yes, how did you know?"

"Well, I'm a Moon Elf before. I mean. I become obsessed with the dark magic and I abandoned my faith" Karina explained as Miya moved a little bit backwards "But not now, not until my fellow Dark Elves sacrificed my sister to the Shadow Abyss. I'm building up my faith again" She stated and frowned.

Miya then smiled at Karina as she stepped forward "I-I'm sorry about your sister. You're doing the right thing now. It's never too late to change yourself and correct your mistakes"

"Thank you so much" Karina said and hugged her. Then she moved backwards and have a look upon all of them " So, you're joining the war too?" Karina questionned

"Yes, you're coming with us?" Alucard interrogated, but his tone of voice was in a manner of persuation. As if he was wanting her to say yes. Fortunatenly, Karina nodded. They were about to make their way out of the forest when the dark force reappeared again, and it was stronger now.

"You're all going to die here!" It screeched before emiting powerful dark orbs that would explode every time it hit something. This time, they were caught off guard. But Sam successfully hid himself behind a huge tree. His heart picked up a fast beat. A tidal wave of fear rushed over his body, quickening with the knowledge that he might die soon.

He stealthily peeked upon the demon, who was slowly approaching the unconscious Karina. He knew he had to do something. But neither his physical strength or intelligence could withstand such monster.

The demon then grabbed Karina from her neck and the dark smoke from it's body were dancing around her, as if it was possessing Karina.

Sam nervously stood up and faced the two of them, with a glaring look on his face. The demon seemed to notice him and laughed ominously. "Another piece of garbage" it whispered. The demon quickly dropped Karina's body and teleported to Sam, looking directly at his eyes.

"You're body is fresh and young. I could enjoy eating your delicious soul HAHAHAHA" The demon uttered. It grabbed Sam on his neck, and lifted his whole body. Sam's eyes were widened in shocked and fear as the demon grinned insanely. Suddenly, he remembered everything about his life. His everything.

Ever since he was a kid, he could do nothing but let the world downgrade him as a person. He would endure the pain and sadness, but he couldn't fight for himself. He was coward and weak. Then at the back of his mind he recollected the memories of his parents, the people who genuinely accepted for what he was. He thought of something about their existence. Even though they're dead, they would always be on Sam's heart. They will never die, he thought. They could see me, and they're guiding me.

Unexpectedly, Sam let out a furious cry. The building fire of strength and eagerness to fight for his life, was seen in his frightening eyes.

Something extraordinary transpired from his necklace, as it begun to brighten up and released powerful rays of blinding light. The demon screamed in pain and retreated, leaving the five of them on the ground, unconscious.
