Weltkrieg: A Youjo Senki Fic

Chapter 21 - Faith hidden in the dark

Ignorance is the source of a soldier's demise. One step carelessness they may find themselves with a knife to slice to their throat.

There's a lot of ways for them to die, starvation of the lack of logistics, natural disasters, choked with mud inside their trenches, there are too many tragic ways to die for a soldier.

Unexpected, unprecedented, no one would know. Like a script in the great theater, the people called war.

Covering their hands, with a faint gurgling as they tried to scream, only to found a brief and everlasting pain, their eyes lost the lights.

In the winding path of the corridor, towards our goal, only 100 meters away to the impressive oaken door.

"Go!"

With a brief signal of the waves from both of my fingers, a curtain was raised. The door with a loud bang, almost fall from its hinge of the kick from the stoic black-haired man, opened.

The room was dark, save only from the bright light and debacles outside coming out of the window. A man standing there, a glass of wine in his hands, twirling it around as observing the world outside like a hawk.

His wizened features, with a falling strand of greyed hair, stood strong from the age despite the dark shadow under his eyes.

"You've come."

The old man said the man suspected behind this farce they called a declaration of war against the raging beast, the empire.

He's stood there defiantly, exposing his back despite the threat our muzzle pointed at.

"Prime minister, in the wake of the Dacia declaration of war, we've thereby judged you to come with us."

"And what if I am not?"

"Like you have many choices."

He stopped his twirling, the cup of liquid standstill inside its containers.

"I've seen a vision, the human wisdom and its ugliness, a man in a robe come to me. Giving me enlightenment, then the next week, I saw his path and an ally seek our help to defeat the rotten country the empire."

His tone was heavy, filled with the weight of his mind.

"Kommandant, I have a bad feeling about this." Beatrice beside me said, her fingers occasionally twitched on the trigger of her firearms.

Like I was expected, this must be the worm machination.

"Come Prime minister, there won't be harmful if you surrender yourself to us."

He didn't say anything, still watching the city outside. Then suddenly, as the wind changes its current, he turned, facing us.

The face was no longer somber, his eyes full of twisted fanaticism, glowing bright orange.

The mana was shifting in the air, condensing towards the object held by the Prime minister.

"Kommandant, permission to shoot!"

"You expect me a fool, and thrice you will fail lost lamb!!! We're the instrument of his wills, the holy night of solace shall watch the empire crumbles, and the Rhine devil shall fall tonight. Deus Vult!"

"Cripple him!" My order died in the wake of the cube activation.

A twisted amalgamation of mind cube, blackened to its core. The sudden wave of built-up energy thrown us to the walls.

Pang!

Tables, parchment, bed, ink, were thrown aside by the raging wind cubes created before everything went to hell outsides.

Sounds of AA were roaring outside, as the barking of officers filled the chaos outside.

No, no, no!

You worm! I cursed.

How could I not know there's an organization out there haven't been identified yet.

But I know why they declared the war to the empires. 600.000 thousand lives of the soldier are a prime source of emotion and fear.

Mind cube in all its splendor name was just an amalgamation of human emotions, the stronger the emotion the better grade it will be.

He was using it to manifests those AA and armaments outside the city, and there's no intel where the soldiers came from.

Still, for what purpose!? He mentioned the fall of the devil of the Rhine, the only one who has a mockery of that title among the empire enemies was Major Tanya Degurechaff.

No need for unneeded thought, for now, I shook my head.

Wolfgang managed a pot-shot in time to the Prime minister's shoulder, as his golden eyes started to dim back to the brown eyes before.

"Michael secure him! We've got a sudden emergency here."

Everyone was gathered, their eyes were varied, from the gleam of uneasiness and excitement to the prospect of chaos outside.

"What now Kommandant?" Violet maintained a level headed mind, not like she needed it.

"Violet, Beatrice you guard the prime minister and escort him outside the city. and the rest with me, we will make a decoy to draw the attention of the enemies, then aid the 203rd, however, we can, understood?"

They nodded, with a swift preparation later, Wolfgang with a grin blast his ways of the window. Michael turned his head to me, I shrugged in response as I follow Wolfgang path.

---==++Deus Vult – Wolfgang POV++==---

He didn't know what just happened, but he certainly knew something fun is happening.

In this mass orgy of what people called as war, blood with blood, an exchange of pain. What an era he lives in, where tragedy, madness, and carnage thrived

With a grin and laughter across the Dacia capital skies, he was ripping the enemy mages to shred.

Another one blasted to a few meat pieces with the newest addition of 'shotgun' he managed to borrow from the R&D back in the base.

This is truly fun, he grabbed another head and squash it to the building below, crumbling to the mist of red and dust.

"What do we do with him, Kommandant?" A rough voice came from his intercom, that stoic bastard, He was dull but at least he followed his lord.

"Let him be, no, Wolfgang-," Came his lord voice. He understands what exactly he was going to say, his grin growing larger of the anticipation.

When everyone looked at him with eyes of scorn, hate, greed, and l.u.s.t, his lord came like a dark knight in shining horses. Not with eyes full of fake and brief compassion, but an understanding of his plight.

Truly in a glimpse of his eyes, he saw what the true person beneath his lord innocent voices. Monster, crueler than him, and the world combined but chained and restrained waiting to be unleashed.

"-Do as your heart d.e.s.i.r.ed."

HAHAHAHA, the madness echoed throughout the city. Truly his lord is someone to be followed forever. That is his oath, as a knight beside him.

The laughter was sounded to each vibration of the city, like the voice of an angel, its scorn could be discerned to the n.a.k.e.d ear.

Cementing its existence to the innocent mind, and corrupting it with another mist of blood and meat pulverized by the muzzle of his gun.

The city painted red, human lives was a mere wind passing like a breeze. Indeed, today was marked as one of the greatest tragedies inside Dacia, and the entire world.

The roof-tiles couldn't be wiped and stained with blood forever to come as thousands of 'voluntary' commonwealth soldiers marked the city as their graves.
