Weltkrieg: A Youjo Senki Fic

Chapter 25 - The Saint

"Sir." Hail the voice coming off the youngster who was busy discussing the scheme on their table.

The day was cheery bright, as dozens of sh.i.p.s and thousand men were working in the drydock.

"At ease, gentleman." I waved my hand down.

"Sir."

Then one of them inquire to me, "What's business you need require, my Kommandant?"

"Oh, it's nothing. I want to check how the progress been going." I said before sated my sight to a ship in front of me.

Her hull was the polished silver sheen of mixture alloys. four sets of twins 8.0 inches gun rested its place in the back and front row of the hull. Unlike her old counterparts, Admiral Hipper-class of this world was a beast of its own. A compartment for torpedo hulls and an array of AA dotted her deck like it was a porcupine. It was fast enough, reaching a 38 knot at full speed.

Other than that, Admiral Hipper is the only class in our navy that suited the best as a heavy cruiser. Their role was to take the punch, and engaging in direct surface combat in the place of battleship. Since they're easier to man and take less time to build instead of a battleship.

While the light cruisers, compromised of the various specialized ship, dealing in each their role. In total, there's 2 Scheme currently being built. The Leipzig-class light cruiser will take the role as Torpedo barge, The Königsberg-class will take a role as AA cruiser, and fast forward scout.

As of all things, the most delicious slice of the cherry when making all of them was, there's no naval treaty to limit us. Nor we will care if there's any though.

Some will take part in a smaller fleet, as we couldn't afford to build a capital ship left and right. Raiding or escorting commerce ship, working in tandem with destroyer and U-boat in emphasizes of maximum protection.

Our fleet is centered around the carrier, cruisers will become their personal knight and the doom to enemy air forces.

Being equip… certainly, we have our fair share of this crap, eh. I will stop now.

"So, Is that Admiral Hipper?" I asked to them.

"Uh, no sir, that's no Admiral Hipper," The man answered in hesitation.

"Why? If I remember right, Admiral Hipper was being the first to build. Go on, no hesitation."

"Yes, sir. Actually, this ship was supposed to be admiral hipper, but due to a mistake of communication and name coming from high-command, they name it as the second ship instead, Prinz Eugen."

"Of course, we can change it right away, though it will need to alter the whole doc.u.ment."

Heavy sweat was trailing off their face, though, I lightly chuckle at them.

With a light wave, I said, "It's fine, it's fine. While I do believe the name of a ship is sacred, it will be unjust if we change her name now."

"Thank you for your consideration, sir."

"Okay, I want to enter the ship, can you lower the bridge please."

"Yes, sir."

As soon as the bridge was lowered, I entered the ship while Hai was playing, and did she just jump to the water?

Nah, she'll be fine, what a sub if she can't swim.

Though I peeked with a formula, to make sure, she's fine.

I entered the ship.

Inside the darkness, calm prevailed, madness unfurled. A contradiction, hypocrisy toiled the bell it's rung. A sin, an attempt I failed. Twice, twice, thrice, thrice, and so forth.

A vision was shown, In the great daylight among the countless grey cloud stood above. In the middle of a crowd, pleading, begging, crying.

What a farce, my fist curled, teeth endured the forced I put into. Blood dripping, blood flowing from it.

To show the greatest regret, of the past, again, again, like someone wanted to beg you in despair over the vision.

'Please, anyone, any of you' the voice kept rung, in the market, in the great hall of noble, in the hamlet, in the tavern, in a bridge, in a castle, in the rotten depraved battlefield.

For all the hopelessness it rebuked, a faint slippering hope latched behind each word.

'Anyone, I implore you, anyone please, open the very heart you closed'

For all the effort he could do, he was powerless in the scheme of the world.

The faith he holds close, the blade he forbade to drawn, all was pointless.

The smile, the compassion, the sermon, pointless.

'Please,' it begged over and over.

'Save her! Pay her ransom, for she saved us, for she asked nothing but your hope to live! Help our saint!'

Some ignored him, some averted their eyes of pity or out fear what would happen if they help him.

Truly, in the end, self-sacrifice would serve nothing but a nod from the crowd.

There's no one else to blame, but the very human foundation.

Then it moved again, and again.

In the end, everyone was powerless, in the rotten fate and prophecy.

They burned her cruelly to death.

he could only watch, and in impulse and month of frustration, he could only draw his sword.

An old sword, with five crosses on the blade he drew, her namesake, her only keepsake.

So, blood was he spilled, the sword tainted.

And when the saint, looked at his direction, breaking her prayer, she could only cry to heaven. When a blade pierced his c.h.e.s.t, splurging the content, they could only stare and one only pray.

And prayer shall not be accepted.

Two tainted souls were sent across the heaven, but not to its direction.

With a clang, the illusion was a break. I stared motionlessly at the glove covered in blood, and tears spilling.

Why?

Why?

Why now.

None were answered as the cold was dispersed when a comfort enveloped me.

Violet.

She was truly a broken doll or was it me?

"Are you all right?" asked her in concern, I shake my head getting my bearing.

"It's fine, it's fine," I kept saying, "Thank you."

As my mind collected, I realized that I was in the Cruiser Bridge.

Right, I had wished to the cube. I stared at the cube floating in the air, forming a human structure.

But to be given those visions.

I should've collected myself more next time, these visions were like a trial.

"Thank you," I said once more, there's no gratitude I amount if it's for her, "Violet."
