When You Are Mine

"What was that for?" Cale turned to Stephanie and asked angrily.

"What do you mean?" Stephanie asked back feigning ignorance. Cale's anger was evident on his face, but right now, she didn't care.

"Why did you say those things to her?" Cale asked pointing in Jade's direction.

"What did I say wrong? The question should be, what do you mean by those words you said to her?" She asked back angrily.

"What?" Cale looked at her confusedly. She knew what she had done wrong, but why was she getting angry? He was supposed to be angry at her for messing up his plans and not the other way round.

"Do you think I am wrong by saying those things to her? or maybe she's the one you love and I'm the one being used right?" She asked staring angrily at him.

"Have you gone crazy?" Cale asked in utter disbelief and anger. He couldn't believe this was happening right now.

"No, but you have gone mad. What was the meaning of those things you said to Jade by the stairs earlier?" She asked lividly, making Cale widen his eyes in surprise. He did not expect that.

How did she know he had met with Jade? Could she have...

"I mean nothing to you huh?" She cut into his thoughts with a question as she stared at him intently as her blood boiled with rage.

She still couldn't grasp her head around the situation she had witnessed at the emergency exit few hours ago.

She had tried riding the elevator this morning when she noticed it was being fixed by the maintenance team, and they had adviced her to use the stairs.

"So many stairs and I just happen to have my heels on" She sighed in annoyance as she reluctantly took the stairs. She had just arrived the fifth floor when she heard a familiar voice. She could swear that that voice belonged to her man. She smiled to herself at the thought that Cale had resumed work already.

The frustration and annoyance she had been feeling a moment ago about climbing the stairs suddenly dissappeared. She had missed Cale so much. She has not been able to spend much time with him since his surgery, but now that he was back to full health, they'll have all the time they want.

She hurried up the stairs excitedly, but she suddenly slowed down when she heard Cale say something she wished he didn't...

"But believe me Jade, I have nothing going on with Stephanie. That kiss just happened, and I don't know what had come over me at the time. Maybe it was because I had almost died, and I was overwhelmed after regaining consciousness after the surgery that I impulsively kissed her. I was too excited to be alive and well, and that too was all because of you. I know you paid for my surgery. Thank you for that"

Stephanie could feel her feet gradually grow heavy at his words. Her eyes slowly turned red, as her hold around the stair rails tightened subconsciously. She felt her hearing lessen by each word he spoke, because all she could feel and hear was her racing heart.

What did Cale mean by there was nothing going on between them? And above all why was he saying it to Jade...that bitch.

"Will you forgive me? I need you back in my life" She heard Cale say again.

Stephanie felt her knees go weak as she suddenly fell to sit on a step. Cale's word were running through her head as she heard him plead with Jade.

'No, this has to be that bitch's fault. Jade must be trying to take her man from her. She was sure Jade must have done something or maybe seduced him' She thought to herself.

She listened to there conversation and waited there till they both left. So that was what the apology was all about. He wanted the contract for himself?.

She was sure Jade must have manipulated Cale into believing she could get the contract for him. That classless girl have some balls to come after her man. She clenched her hands into a fist as she cursed at Jade a thousand times in heart.

If Jade thought that she could use this cheap trick get Cale back, then she should have a rethink. Because in this life nobody is qualified to get what she owned.

"So tell me what you meant by that?" Stephanie asked angrily. Cale was speechless when he realized what must have happened. What was he going to say right now? The whole situation was messed up already.

Damn, how did he make such a huge mess? He looked at Stephanie and he could see how riled up she was.

"Babe.." He called out softly, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean those words I said to her okay. I just wanted to use her to help me get that contract so I can be promoted" He said softly as he took a step closer to her. Though he was still angry that she had ruined his plans, he still thought it was better to pacify her for now. He wouldn't want her creating more mess for him.

Stephanie looked at him dubiously, she didn't know if she could believe his words.

"I'm sorry, I promise I won't do that again" He said as he stood one step closer from her.

Stephanie could feel her anger slowly dissappear, but something still didn't feel right.

Why did he ask for Jade's help and not her's? More still, why couldn't he do it by himself?

Cale observed Stephanie's expression, and he couldn't tell if she was still angry, because her expression remained the same.

"Stephanie, please let Jade do this. It would be better if she did" Cale said as he held her hand gently.

Stephanie looked at him quietly without saying a word.

"Why?" She asked.

"Because you think I'm not capable? You think I'm as good as Jade?" She asked again withdrawing her hand from his.

"No I didn't mean that" Cale quickly tried to explain.

"Don't bother trying to explain it to me. I'll get that contract and prove it to all of you that I'm more better than her" Stephanie declared angrily before storming off.

Cale helplessly watched as she angrily walked away. What was he supposed to do.

Jade whipped out her phone from her bag when she heard it ringing. She smiled when she saw it was Amy calling. She haven't heard from since the night of the party.

"Baby girl miss me" Jade said cheerily as soon as she answered the phone.

"Who will miss you? I didn't miss you at all" Amy denied.

"I know you did. You're just acting up"

"Stop flattering yourself young lady" Amy said with a smile tugging on her lips. Of course she had missed her best friend. She had called her as soon as she realized they haven't spoken to each other ssnce the night of Blake's party.

"So why did you call me?" Jade asked, as she eagerly waited for Amy's next lie.

"Well...I called to check if you're okay. You didn't look too good after we left the party and Lair said you've not been taking his calls. So are you okay?" Amy asked with concern. She hasn't forgotten how dejected Jade looked as they left the party. She had wanted to ask what was wrong with her, but she had been carried away with her own boy issues.

"I'm okay...it was nothing. And I promise to call Lair as soon as we're done talking"

"Did I tell you Lair was flirting with a lady at the party?" Amy said in full gossip mode.

"No way! That's not true. Lair Walker flirting? Amy you're lying" Jade didn't believe Amy's words at all.

"I swear on my favorite gold stoned louboutin" Amy swore.

"I believe you" Jade agreed when she heard Amy swear with her favorite shoe. Everyone knew that was Amy's most valuable possession. She loved it and would swear with it to show how serious she was.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Jade asked excitedly.

"Well...I wanted to, but I forgot"

"Don't worry, you have to tell me all about it when I come to your on Monday" Jade told her.

"You're coming to Acrosoft? Why don't we meet at home?" Amy advised.

"I thought you didn't miss me" Jade teased.

"You know I did" Amy replied with a giggle making Jade laugh.

"I have to meet your boss" Jade said.

"Which boss?" Amy asked. Something in her wanted to be sure it wasn't the boss she was thinking, Jake Beau. Because she wouldn't want her friend to be 1000 miles close to that casanova.

"Miss Walker a package for you" Jade heard someone say to Amy over the phone.

"Thank you" Amy said as she received a small gift bag from the messenger.

"Amy what is that?" Jade inquisitively asked.

"I don't know. Let me see" Amy took a look at the bag and she picked up a small note inside of it. It read...

'I heard sweet things makes the mood better and a lady prettier'

"I'll call you back" Amy said before abruptly ending the call.
