Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Well...it has been about a minute since I said that I was going to wait for night to fall and execute my plan of taking revenge on that arrogant bear. I gazed at the current position of the sun and...it has barely moved at all.

Sometimes, I wonder if I spout words I shouldn't have said after knowing fully well that I won't commit to it. If you know what I'm talking about, it's about gathering more qi. I said a while ago that I could have been gathering qi to raise my proficiency, but I decided otherwise since night was coming close and my plan was going to start soon enough.

Now... I'm quite regretting the fact that I said that. Thankfully, I'm a mosquito, which meant that no one else could have heard it. If I think about it further, should I really be worried if I broke promises I made to myself on a whim? Since no one would hear it anyway, it's fine if I break it, right?

Nah, it ain't vibing with my morality. Anyways, moving on.

Seeing that I have still tons of time after realizing that the sun moved slower than I thought when I was doing nothing, I decided to focus on increasing my qi gathering proficiency to 100 percent since gathering qi every time I want to is pretty nice.

Well...that was easier than I thought. Just like that, my proficiency has gone up by another 20 percent, basically giving me a chance of successfully gathering qi one out of two times, or 50-50 if that's your drift.

Oh wait, it's actually 55 percent, so it's a bit more than 50-50. I almost forgot about my newly transformed physique. To be honest, since I obtained a physique that was now biased towards a certain element, and I don't know how it'll help me in the long run, it has proven itself to be a negligible boost. I hope that when the time comes where my physique is at a high level, it would show its worth.

After absorbing another point of qi, I took a look at the position of the sun. Surprisingly, doing something to pass the time does make it seem that time is moving faster, with a quarter of the sun being below the horizon. At its current state, it dyed the sky a beautiful orange...makes me want to eat an orange. I should try s.u.c.k.i.n.g fruits sometime, probably after this revenge match.

With my proficiency at 55 percent, I was able to make the movements and steps needed to absorb qi into the dantian a bit more efficient. I also felt this feeling while I absorb a point of qi at 35 percent proficiency, feeling a great improvement as to how I would absorb qi.

Thinking about it a bit deeper, not only does proficiency increase the success rate at which I could absorb qi, it also increased the speed at which I could absorb qi. But then, with the thought that proficiency increases qi gathering success rate and speed, does this carry over when I upgrade my qi gathering technique?

I of course know very well that I'm currently using the most basic qi gathering technique given to me by the system, and I could have upgraded it to a greater level before starting to truly absorb qi...but I didn't. Now, why is that? If you're thinking that there's some giant reason behind this, you're gravely mistaken.

I simply want to experience absorbing qi at the very instant I could, not caring about how much qi I could absorb with one uh...what do you call this... circulation? Yeah, one circulation.

Even though I'm a mosquito and not a human in this current life, cultivation has always been a dream of mine after reading it in web novels, so to experience a part of it at the very instant I could feels very great.

And with me rambling with myself about proficiency and the reasons behind not upgrading my qi gathering technique, the sun was now three-fourths of the way down. To be honest, at this point in time, the sky was quite dark already, dark enough to shroud my body's color at the very least.

Should I move right now? Nah, I'll wait until the moon rises to really make sure that my chances of taking revenge on that bear would be close to guaranteed.

And with this final qi absorption session, the sun has fully sunken down, with the moon around halfway there to rising out of the horizon as it radiated the reflected rays of the sun's light towards the now dark forest. Not only that, my proficiency was now at a very high 95 percent, once it reaches a hundred percent, I'll go and upgrade my qi gathering technique.

As for now...

I started to flap my two pairs of wings, flying towards the clearing at an extremely great speed compared to the first time I went here before...which was earlier in the morning. Wow, my perception of time is pretty messed up.

Anyways, I made my way towards the deer in the clearing. Well, in actuality, I hovered a meter or so above the heads of the deer, looking at what they were currently doing. Not only that, my Qi Perception stat of 2 was at full blast, allowing me to sense each and every aura emanating out of the deers within the clearing...

As well as that lurker's aura.

Just like before, that bear hid behind the cover of a few trees, looking at its prey like some sort of pervert that gets off at the sight of their crush. I'm not saying that perverts that do that are bad, but it's extremely weird and disgusting. Go ahead and confess for crying out loud.

Anyways, the aura emanated by the bear was now around the same level as mine as I had finally reached my second bloodline awakening. Of course, I knew very well that my constitution was nowhere near the lurker's, but since the level of aura we emanated were at the same level, that meant that my strength was more or less the same level as it? I don't get how my strength is equal to a big f.u.c.k.i.n.g bear. Systems are complicated sometimes.

But before I go off topic, let me start my plan, also known as Operation uh... I'm Beary Grateful For Your Death. Eh, my naming sense could use some work.

I made my way down towards one of the deer within the clearing. At the moment, this deer was eating some berries. Do these deer just eat berries everyday?

Pfft.

Well, with that fart, I guess they do. The lurker must have used its qi to manipulate the deer inside the clearing, messing with their brain stuff and all that. Then again, with these deer eating all of the time, I wouldn't have to worry about them running off in fear of one of their kin dying. Well, maybe they do run off when their kin die, but I do it so silently that I don't trigger their fight or flight response. You know what? Too much overthinking.

Buzz...

Instead of heading towards the deer's back, this time, I made my way towards the throat of the deer and...

Poke!

Poked my proboscis through the deer's throat with paralysis fluid all over it, not allowing it to flee from the attack at all. In the first place, it couldn't have even fled since it was a sudden attack. Anyways, you get the gist.

Poke! Poke! Poke!

I continued to poke with my proboscis as usual, rendering the deer brain dead as the heart was not pumping towards the brain, just like the previous living beings I killed through this method...which amounts to two beings if I remember correctly.

Since I've s.u.c.k.e.d enough blood from a deer, I wouldn't experience an increase in Constitution once I killed or s.u.c.k.e.d blood from a deer. Nonetheless, obtaining a Bloodl.u.s.t Point and blood points is better than just obtaining blood points.

Of course, with the deer dead, I made my way towards the deer's back and poked my proboscis to suck out its unmoving blood at a great speed.

It has been a while since I've seen this notification. Without hesitation, I used the points I obtained from s.u.c.k.i.n.g the deer's blood to upgrade my Second Blood Storage, increasing my storage capacity by 100 points. In total, I could now store over 500 points of blood.

Slurp.

Then again, with my storage maxing out midway my s.u.c.k.i.n.g spree, there was still a bit of blood left within the deer's body. It amounted to around 70 points of blood or so, which was of course better than nothing.

Rumble...

As one of the lurker's deer was s.u.c.k.e.d dry as it hid behind the tree, it could not help but become vigilant as to who had done it, apply a small bit of force to its aura. Of course, this small bit of pressure was nothing compared to what I felt before. Back then, I felt that I was always being watched. Right now though, it's more of a gentle breeze.

I did not stop at s.u.c.k.i.n.g one deer as that was not enough to aggravate the deer, moving onto another one as I killed it and s.u.c.k.e.d its body dry of blood.

Whirr...whirr...

This time, there was now more force applied to the aura, which meant that the act of s.u.c.k.i.n.g its deer dry angered it. Normally, it would deter other animals from doing it one more time, but it only deters them. I s.u.c.k.e.d deer blood under this lurker's eyes already, so why would I stop doing it?

Poke!

I did the deed one more time, which was the limit for the lurker back then to show itself in front of me under intense rage. Let's see if the same thing happens this ti—

Just like before, a few trees near the clearing were swatted down with big black claws to reveal a big black bear. Not only that, the sound generated by the trees crashing down startled the deer who were eating, prompting them to run away...also just like before.

To be honest, the current situation gave me intense deja vu...even though the earlier incident was not a dream. Anyways, the big black bear started to look around the clearing's surroundings, still teeming with rage, giving me the feeling that it would gouge my eyes out if it found me.

Surprisingly, amidst its rage, it could not find me, resorting to spreading its qi throughout the entirety of the clearing. Huh, it seems that the opposite did happen, bears in this world do have crappy vision at night.

"Whoever you are, reveal yourself!" the bear roared, using the qi as a channel for the message to be relayed.

If I was not here and the same occurrence happened, it would have been at the peak of its rage for a long time. It would have not stopped continuing to roar for the culprit to come out.

Let me play for a little bit.

"Hehehe." I chuckled through the qi channel, being picked up by the bear. Since I could see the bear clearly, I noticed that it slightly jumped up from my chuckle.

"Who goes there? If you are the one who killed my prey, then you must pay the price!" the bear said, its aura saying otherwise. With my Qi Perception at full blast, it's basically wanting to run away right now, because I knew who and where it is, but it did not know who and where I was.

I kept silent for a while, instilling more fear of the unknown into the big black bear until I finally started to speak through the channel.
