Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 38 - To Speak Is Human

Seriously though, how the heck would I speak to humans? I'm definitely sure that as a mosquito, I don't have vocal cords to replicate human speech. Also, since I'm a mosquito, I would probably be communicating with my wings more, as they flap at a certain frequency that create certain tunes. Then again, in my previous life when I would listen to the buzzing of mosquitoes, I only hear the word 'annoying' through and through.

Would they even understand the great language of buzz? Or the esoteric communication method of flapping wings? Hmm…if I flapped my wings in a way that would differentiate the two flaps as short and long, would I be able to replicate morse code so they could understand me?

Wait a second, this is a cultivation world. It's impossible for these cultivators to understand morse code. Not only that, I don't even remember all of the letters in morse code, I only remember the letter S and O. Yes, I only know how to scream for help in morse code. Unfortunately, morse code is useless in this world…and I'm a mosquito. Moving on.

Perhaps, the system might offer some insights as to how I would go about solving this problem? Then again, I have a few hypotheses of my own that I want to test out, but I'm definitely sure that the system is more knowledgeable in this area. The first hypothesis that came to mind was to suck a human's blood, and possibly obtain the method of speaking to language from there…but a human would probably not be classified as a rare animal by the system, which is why I didn't do it.

I can understand human speech very well, since I'm just a human in a mosquito body. But seriously though, how the heck do I talk to humans? System, how the f.u.c.k do I talk to humans? Would I need to use a martial technique and cultivate some vocal cords out of qi?

Ding!

Not long after my query, the system replied.

'The user does not need to master a martial technique to speak with humans, though it would allow for more flexibility in terms of pitch, tone, and so on. Not only that, multiple martial techniques would even allow the user to speak with other animals, so it is quite recommended for the user to train in some of them in the future,' the system replied in a monotonous voice in my head.

'But for the dilemma that is speaking with humans, it is quite simple. There is no need to find a martial technique for speaking, unless the user wants to cultivate a fighting path that is reliant on voices. The only thing the user needs to do is…'

'Read books regarding the language made by humans. That is all.'

Well…if I were a native of this world and wasn't a mosquito, I wouldn't be having this dilemma, now would I? But on the other hand, it is quite reassuring that I wouldn't have to find a martial technique that would do that, since only Red River Town might have it due to its economy. As for books regarding the human language, I have an idea in mind.

Whoosh! Buzz…

I'm going to take a detour for a bit. As I looked at the information map in my mind and checked a few times if the path I was taking was correct, I eventually changed my angle a bit, slowly but surely moving away from the original trajectory needed to head to Red River Town.

Now…where was I going? Well…I was heading towards the village nearest to Red River Town. As for the name of this village, it's named Black Rock Village, the reason for the village's name being the fact that the houses are made out of black rock. Black rock is a sturdy building material for mortals, but not sturdy enough nor tough enough to handle hits for cultivators.

And with that, I flew towards Black Rock Village with my Spatial receptor on full gear, eventually reaching the periphery of the village by the time the sun was nearing the horizon. At the very moment I had arrived at the defensive walls of the village, the sky was now dyed in a shade of orange-red.

Anyways, I did not care too much about the darkness at this point. I had the Spatial receptors to act as my vision, which was working pretty effectively even under the gradual darkness. Speaking of which, I should probably hide myself from the humans. It would definitely be surprising if they found a mosquito that was the size of a spider. It would definitely bring me a heart attack if I were looking at one.

'Void Presence+!'

Whoosh!

And with the activation of the technique, my body and aura had been shrouded by a dark energy, stemming from the depths of the black sphere behind my heart. Surprisingly, after I evolved to Void Seraphim, not much changed with the black sphere other than the fact that it was moved a teensy bit.

Anyways, with my body and aura shrouded with Void Presence+, I was now practically invisible to all of the people in the village, save for the fact that those who can release their qi. The dark energy surrounding my body melded in with the surroundings and adjusted its appearance to appear every time I moved to make it look like I wasn't there.

As to why I hadn't used Void Presence+ before in front of strong beasts, it would be because of my fear of finding out that Void Presence+ doesn't actually work in front of beasts that can release their qi. Although I wanted to, I didn't do so.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

I flew through the village at a height that would make it hard for the humans below to see me. Then again, it was already nearing nighttime so the humans were already heading back to their homes, which meant that the risk of me being found was now pretty low.

Hmmm…where would I find books regarding the human language in this village? If I were in Red River Town, I would've tried to find the nearest library at the very moment I got there, rather than start to cultivate since speaking would allow me to avoid multiple nuisances. Then again, having a high cultivation would also allow me to avoid multiple nuisances.

As for this Black Rock Village, the only possible place where I would find a lot of books would be in…the village leader's house. And so, with that idea in mind, I flew towards the largest black rock house in the village, and went inside through the opened windows.

Whoosh!

"Ungh! Aagh!" At the very instant I entered through the black rock house's windows, my antennae could not help but pick up sounds from a female human that sounded like she was in pain or something. Not only that, these sounds were pretty strong, like it was just happening below me.

And it actually did.

"Yes! Harder! Better! Faster! Stronger!" the female human m.o.a.n.e.d as her body rocked back and forth in a dance to proliferate life with a male human. Multiple beads of sweat dripped down both of their bodies, making the ambience within the room more alluring.

'Oh shit, I entered at a wrong time,' I said to myself, watching the two entangle themselves in p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e for a few minutes. After that, I then went on and flew towards the other rooms within the black rock house, recalling the scene from before every once in a while. To be honest, that female human was really beautiful. Not only that, she also had a decent level of cultivation according to the aura I perceived, around peak Qi Proliferation realm.

Anyways, the next room I entered was quite dark, but that wasn't enough to stop me since I had my Spatial receptors. I could not help but notice that a holder of sorts was on a certain side of the room. Within it was a young human, sleeping to their hearts' content, not even unaware of what was happening on the other room.

Now, how the heck did these two parents make their child sleep this well and have f.u.c.k.i.n.g s.e.x without waking the child up? Hmm…I guess this is the difference between my previous world and this cultivation world. Well, moving on from that topic, I looked at the child for a bit and took a guess as to what his age was. Around 5 to 6 years of age probably? Either way, this age is more or less perfect to start learning the human language.

Why? It's because I wanted to start learning the alphabet first before moving onto harder and harder parts of the language. I gotta have a foundation first before tackling more difficult areas.

And with that, I flew around the room to find books, since I have a hunch that the mother of this child left a few books in some sort of shelf in this room. Why? So she doesn't need to go farther to find a bedtime story book.

Buzz…

Jackpot! On the opposite side of the child holder, a small bookshelf of sorts was on a small desk, perhaps for the child to use as a place to write or draw. Of course, I aimed for the bookshelf, looking through the titles of the books in the bookshelf with the radius of my crappy vision.

"Not this one, not this one…" I continued to check each and every book, until I finally found the one in my mind.

"Found it!"

I did not try to retrieve it and lay it on the table, since I don't have hands. On the contrary, I hovered a decent distance away from the book's side and read the title.

"The Basic Characters of the Changliang Alphabet."

Changliang Alphabet? Is Changliang a place in this world or something? Either way, this would allow me to start learning the language. Speaking of which, how do I go about learning this? I can't open the book so…do I just land on it?

Buzz…

Whoosh!

As I landed on the spine of the book, I instantly felt a formless energy coursing from my limbs as it headed towards my brain, filling my brain with great information about the Changliang Alphabet that was written on the book.

Ding!

'You have obtained information regarding the human language. The skill [Human Language (Basic)] is formed.'

Well, I never expected to read books this way, but it's still a handy thing. Anyways, since the level of this skill is Basic, how complicated are the sentences I can formulate?

Let me try…

"Apple…banana…cunt."

Yeah…not complicated enough.

And with that, I continued to look through the bookshelf, finding the next book that had the human language in mind. Thankfully, the mother of this child thought that her child would grow up to be a genius, so she also put a dictionary, and a book regarding grammar and sentence formulation on the same bookshelf. How did I know this?

Those two books were beside the Changliang Alphabet book.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

'You have obtained greater information regarding the human language. The skill [Human Language (Basic)] has been upgraded to [Human Language (Adept)].'

Adept level, that means I have a decent command over the language already. Let me see…

"The dantian is the powerhouse of a cultivator."

Hmm…pretty decent, but what if I were to talk to some sort of eloquent bastard one day? It would definitely suck if I lost in a war of words. In other words, this level is not enough. I need to go further.

Buzz…

I looked through the bookshelves one more time to try and find if there were any advanced books after the ones I had learned. Unfortunately, there were none, so I headed towards the other rooms, with the m.o.a.ns of the female human softly reverberating through the corridor's walls.

"Hello motherf.u.c.ker."

"This is a big spoon."

"Look at the size of my huge…needle."

As I continued to look for a bookshelf that could possibly contain books about the human language, I continued to practice speaking in the human language, wondering if talking would help enhance the skill. Of course, I could not voice these words out, I was only practicing in my mind.

Buzz…

A few minutes later, I finally came across a bookshelf filled to the brim with books regarding multiple areas of human culture. Now, you might be wondering, I've already tackled alphabets, words, and grammar. Wouldn't that be enough to talk with humans? Normally, it would be, but I plan to go further.

The next book I want to absorb is…a book regarding as to how a human thinks

"Aha!" I said to myself as the title of a book caught my eye, knowing very well that it was a book that I had in mind. I landed on it, and felt the information coalescing in my mind.

Ding!

'You have obtained information regarding the thoughts of the human, pushing the mastery of the human language further. The skill [Human Language (Adept)] has been upgraded to [Human Language (Expert)].'

'Due to unlocking the skill [Human Language (Expert)], the miscellaneous martial technique [Human Speech Synthesis] has been formed.'

Success. At this point, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to advance the mastery of the human language any further, unless if I wanted to become some sort of poet or writer. A mosquito poet or writer, that is.

Anyways, Human Speech Synthesis? Let me try it out.

Whoosh!

As I activated the skill, a few points of qi in my dantian were redirected into my brain, as I started to speak in my mind.

"What the heck are you thinking about right now?"

As I said this, the qi then directed itself out of the proboscis, formulating my thoughts into words not long after. Thankfully, I made the conscious decision of softening my voice so as to not alert the fornicating couple and the sleeping child, since that would definitely bring the couple some trauma. As for the child, not so much.

Now, why would the first thing I speak out be about thoughts? That's because…

I obtained the Expert level from a psychology book.
