Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 56 - Return to Normalcy

Thud.

As the bandit's body fell down to the ground backwards, the blade that he was holding cut through the now emaciated skin of his, since he was now a corpse at this point. With the thud resounding throughout the room, all of the bandits, as well as the women that were inside the room, could not help but look at the bandit's corpse, their minds and bodies being filled with a great sense of fear.

Seeing one of their brethren die in front of them without knowing the cause, they could not help but think about the cause of their big boss' death one more time, noticing that the women did not even make a move to do something to their brother. Of course, that was the majority. There was still the minority that believed that the women in the room did it, with one of the bandits coming closer towards them as he steeled himself.

Step. Step.

Although this bandit's legs were trembling superbly due to the fear he felt from seeing one of his brothers die all of a sudden, his upper body was still as stable as a rock, deluding himself that the cause of his brother's death, as well as his big boss' death, was all due to the women in front of him.

After getting closer to the women, this bandit knelt down as he asked one of the women in a low voice, "Don't fool us. You know we can kill you in an instant, right? You guys used some sort of poison to kill that guy, right?"

The women in the room, which amounted to about three, looked at each other, wondering as to how they were going to answer this question, knowing very well that they didn't do it. A few seconds later, after coming to some sort of agreement with their eyes, the woman that was asked by the bandit responded to his question in a stammering manner, saying, "We didn't do it at all, how can we do i-"

Even though the woman was saying the truth, the bandit that asked did not buy her words, cl.i.c.k.i.n.g his tongue and unsheathing his blade as he swung it down not long after.

"Wrong answer, bitch," he shouted as he exerted his full force towards chopping the woman in front of him in two.

Of course, due to instinct, the woman could not help but close her eyes, hoping that a miracle would happen.

Hehe. Fortunately for her, I was here, waiting for the bandit to make his move.

'Ranged Absorption!'

Slurp. Slurp.

Just like the bandit from before, all of the blood within the bandit's body was s.u.c.k.e.d within mere moments, transforming the bandit's body into that of an emaciated corpse. The bandit noticed this as well, evident through the shocked expression on his face, which would now be immortalized because he was now dead.

Clang!

Hearing the sound of metal colliding with the floor, the woman, who had her eyes closed, opened her eyes to see what had happened, only to scream out in shock as she noticed that the bandit that was out to kill her was also dead. It seemed that two deaths in front of her was the breaking point as something snapped in her mind. She stood up and started to move in a manic manner, covering her ears with her hands as she continued to shout, "I didn't do it! I didn't do it! I didn't do it!"

Seeing as how one of the women in the room lost her f.u.c.k.i.n.g mind, even going so far as to shout those words, the thought that the bandits had in mind a while ago, which was the thought of the majority, had finally solidified and became certain. Well, that's what I can see from their faces anyway as they looked at each other in understanding. Finally, they realized that the women did not even have the capabilities to do such a thing. Of course, they did not have such capability in the first place as they haven't even started their paths of cultivation.

With that thought in mind, one of the bandits could not help but ask the others, "If the women didn't do it…then who's doing it?"

At that instant, I activated Ranged Absorption to its full potential as I aimed it towards one of the remaining bandits, leaving 7 bandits alive. If I was thinking along the same line of thought as they are, I'm definitely sure that they're going to panic and run away. But with this, I could delay the process by a bit, reducing the amount of effort I have to do to suck every bit of blood from them.

Thud.

I intentionally aimed for the bandit that was at the back of the group, allowing the remaining bandits to see one of their brethren fall on the floor for no reason, emaciated just like the two in the room. It took a while for this view to be processed by the bandits' minds, allowing me to suck another bandit that was stuck in a state of dumbfoundedness.

Thud.

At this point, I had already amassed an additional 6000 points of blood from the 4 bandits I've s.u.c.k.e.d. Of course, I used those points to upgrade the remaining parts of my physique to the next level. In other words, upgrading all of my parts to the next level had left me with around 500 points of blood to spare, giving me no chance to even tackle the next upgrade for my body parts, costing about 4000 points each.

If I were to suck a ton of cultivators at the Qi Condensation stage, this wouldn't be a problem. But in front of me were bandits that were at most, peak of Qi Proliferation stage. Speaking of bandits, just as I was finished upgrading the remaining parts of my physique, it was only then that the deaths of their brethren registered in their minds, prompting one of the bandits to shout out, "Run!!!!"

Whoosh! Whoosh!

At that instant, all of the bandits headed towards the only exit the bandit den had, the front door of the den. They did not even hesitate to leave the women behind, thinking that they would also be targeted by the entity they imagined in their minds. Unfortunately for them, I only s.u.c.k.e.d blood from those that deserve to be s.u.c.k.e.d. Except animals. No one would care if a few animals went missing, especially in the wild.

Anyways, thanks to my incredibly fast movement speed, which was made into a greater advantage due to the small size of the rooms in this bandit den, it allowed me to suck 2 more bandits before the door to the den was opened, leaving only 5 bandits alive.

Bang!

At the very instant the door was opened, the five remaining bandits did not dare to look back, in fear of being killed by the entity that was targeting them. From how they've been acting all this time, I don't know if they're stupid or whatever. And no, I'm not referring to whatever by them having multiple personalities as well.

The five bandits pushed their bodies to the limit as they rode on the horses they tied beside the den as fast as possible. Of course, since their true natures were now being shown, they rode on a horse each, not even thinking of having two people ride on one horse. Then again, that's the better choice as it would take me a longer time to catch up to them and deprive them of their blood. Yes, in the end, they'll still die. They're just delaying their deaths as much as possible.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

And so, within a time span of about 30 minutes or so, I had successfully killed the remaining 5 bandits from the bandit den I targeted, basically making the bandit den defunct. As for the matter regarding the women in the bandit den, it was up to them on how they would get back to their homes. I've given them a way to escape already. I don't want to babysit any other humans for now.

Whoosh! Buzz…

With me clearing a whole bandit den, the position of the sun had now shifted to a place somewhere near the peak of the blue sky. In other words, it was quite close to noon already. Speaking of which, I should really head back to where Yang Bailian is. I have a feeling that she's awake already, probably screaming her heart out just to find me.

'Supersonic Flight!'

'Void Enhancement+!'

Activating the two skills simultaneously, I made my way back to where Yang Bailian was at the fastest speed I could muster. Of course, that did not stop me from looking at the loot I've amassed from killing those 5 bandits, as well as the horses they rode on. What? It's free blood.

In total, I've amassed about 12 thousand points of blood from s.u.c.k.i.n.g all of them dry. As to where I invested those blood points, I put most of it into my Second Blood Storage skill. As for the remaining portion of blood, I decided to not use it up for now. As to why, although there was some sort of reason in my mind, I could not really say what. All I can say is that it'll be better to use it later, I guess.

Whoosh!

Within 10 minutes of flying, I had finally arrived back to where Yang Bailian was. And as expected, she was screaming multiple times, wandering through a great portion of the area we made ourselves comfortable in, just to find me. Fortunately, we weren't in an area filled to the brim with predators, which did not put her at risk.

"I'm here, I'm here," I said at the earliest moment I got close to Yang Bailian, deactivating my Void Presence+ skill. Seeing as I've finally appeared in front of her, she could not help but let out a sigh of relief as she asked, "Where did you go? I was searching for you for quite a long time."

"I just had some things to take care of," I responded in a vague manner, no intention of talking about what I did to her at all. I then made my way towards her head, lying down on it not long after before asking, "Did you forget anything?"

Although she was quite skeptical of what I've done, she still answered my questions, responding with, "None at all. Anyways, could you specify about those things you had to take care of?"

"No," I replied in an adamant manner. This reply made her frown a bit as she continued to ask the question again and again for a short while.

It was only when I said that I was going to start cultivating did she stop asking about it, letting out a defeated sigh as she headed towards Red River Town.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Of course, I did not actually start cultivating as I wanted to see her progress in her movement technique. To be honest, I was quite surprised as I did not expect such an improvement in terms of movement speed from her. With my curiosity piqued, I asked her, "What level of mastery did you achieve with the technique last night?"

"Hehe." She giggled in a light manner. "I was actually close to reaching the Intermediate level of mastery last night. I'm pretty sure that before night falls, I'd be at Intermediate level already."

"I see," I gave a brief and concise reply, before deciding to cultivate for real.

While cultivating, I could not help but think about the martial technique Yang Bailian gave me. Although it was a technique I would use when I transformed into a cat so I could become a guardian of the Fleeting Blade Sect, wouldn't it be better if I cultivated it right now so I would have a greater level of combat power when fending off foes for the sect?

And with that thought lingering in my mind, I started cultivating my qi, as well as my body, as Yang Bailian continued to traverse the lands, with the ultimate goal of reaching Red River Town.
