After Anthony took a moment of rest, he went back to researching about his current world. He wanted to know more about these so-called "Executors". He continued scrolling through the web. There were a few reputable sources on them including one from the Demon Hunter Association itself.

When he saw the Demon Hunter Association's page, Anthony immediately clicked on the link and started reading.

Apparently, Executors were the equivalent of elves in this world. They were the protectors of nature and had pointed ears and fair features. The Demons were abominations of nature so they were natural enemies to the Executors. Elves or Executors could live for hundreds of years before dying of old age.

When the Demon gates first appeared, other larger neutral gates had also appeared leading to the Demi-Humans and Executors. They collaborated with the Human Alliance and pushed back the Demons. Now, except for France, the rest of the world was stable. The Demon Hunters Association teamed up with corporate business to create the current system.

The corporations would profit off of this disaster by forming guilds of Demon Hunters. They would support the hunters' monetary needs and help them with a good start while the Hunters would hunt for Demons and sell their cores back to the corporations. Demonic Cores were a great source of energy, so the energy corporations bought them at high prices. High-Quality Demonic Cores could power New York for an entire month!

New technologies were emerging every day. A new social hierarchy was born with Demon Hunters being at the top. Many people idolized them for their bravery with the most successful having their image engraved in stone. The most famous one was "Philip Gunderson" a western Demon Hunter. He was the Demon Hunter general in the last major war against the Demons. Under his leadership, his army of Demon Hunters slaughtered the Demons. He himself was one of the few SSS ranked hunters at the top of the world of Demon Hunting.

Unfortunately, old age had gotten to him and no amount of modern medicine could fix that. At least, that was the official version. Anthony couldn't find anything more definitive and shrugged it off. He was determined to get to the top of the hierarchy. His identity as the son of the CEO of a big corporation was a big benefit, but it wasn't what he was looking for.

He looked up from his computer to see how his friends were doing. They were still researching their topics so Anthony decided to grab a bite. He walked over to the fridge and poured himself a glass of orange juice.

He sat down on the sofa and turned on the TV. There weren't too many interesting channels on at the moment. Nowadays, the news channels were usually the most interesting channels. They mostly showed fights between Demon Hunters and Demons causing there to be an equivalent of a live action show every day.

There were even some Channels that were dedicated to live streaming Demon Hunters as they crossed into the Gate on a Gate raid. Anthony finally found one channel recording a live Gate raid. The camera was attached to a D ranked Demon Hunter. They had found an E-ranked gate. Anything above a D rank created too much interference. They had to create special recording equipment for it to withstand the electrical interference. There was also a massive amount of communications equipment placed just outside the Gate to make sure the recording equipment still had a signal.

It was an expensive ordeal, but many people watched and supported the live streams. Alongside the ad revenue, it was a good business to get into. Many new and lucky businessmen that had predicted the popularity of the business had literally gone from rags to riches. They might have incurred some debt when starting the business, but when people found out about these live streams, billions started to watch.

This specific live stream followed a group of 15. There were 6 D-ranked Demon Hunters, including the one live streaming, and 9 E-ranked hunters.

Anthony watched as the group dived into the Gate. The Gate was looked like one of those movie Spatial Rifts that kind of sparkled and pop. One could see part of the other side through it, that is if one was in front of the Gate. Despite the advances in technology for recording systems, the producers still couldn't find out how to fix that part. It would be a great part for them to insert an advertis.e.m.e.nt or something during the replays, but the camera's lenses never picked up the image.

Anthony was impatient for the Demon Hunters to cross to the other side of the Gate. They had been and were still preparing for about 20 minutes. They had to make sure that everyone was there and that they had all of their equipment.

After about another 10 minutes of rather boring conversing, the Leader of the group decided to give the order to charge. They got into formation with the Tanks in the front, the Swordsmen directly behind, and the ranged directly behind them. There was one summoner in this group so she stayed behind everyone.

The D-rank hunter live streaming was a Ranged user. He used an enhanced gun and bullets. Immediately after the Gates had opened, Humanity realized that guns and even tanks for some Demons were useless. Many years after the opening of the Gates and the alliance between the foreign races and Humanity, one of Humanity's scientists, in collaboration with the foreign race's scientists, found out how to modify technology with Magic. It was a big discovery and also increased the value of Demonic Cores. Before, Demonic Cores were just used as a way to create weapons, like Swords, Bows, Hammers, Shields, and those of the like, but imbued with magical energy.

But with the discovery of how it could be incorporated into technology, Demonic Cores became an alternative inexhaustible and natural source of energy. Many Demon Hunters enjoyed a rise to riches as the market price of Demonic Cores skyrocketed overnight. There were also many Demon Hunters that regretted selling their Demonic Cores for cheap to those who were interested in shiny decorations.

Going back to the live stream, the Gate raid party entered the gate to find what seemed to be the inside of a stereotypical video game dungeon. There were ancient torches on the cobblestone walls leading down an eerie corridor. The height of the corridor was about double the height of the average man. One could hear the dripping of water through the high-quality microphone, causing the viewers to hold their breaths in anticipation.

The raid party slowly advanced down the corridor in formation. There was no sign of any Demons yet. Eventually, the row of torches ended and one could see a dimly lit room with a silhouette in the middle. The ring of steel could be heard as the Swordsmen unsheathed their swords. Those with extra hands grabbed a few torches off the wall as they advanced into the room.

The party could hear munching sounds. As they got closer, they could barely make out a pair of legs in the dim light of the torches. Suddenly, 30 pairs of blood red eyes appeared in the darkness and a hungry howl sounded out. The Demons ran at the 5 tanks in the front. Being seasoned veterans, they immediately got into position and used caused their armor to emit special energy that Demons couldn't exist.

The Demons immediately started trying to knaw on the shields. After the Demons were fully aggroed, the Swordsmen did their part and started hacking at the Demons. These Demons looked like the typical zombie except for dark black skin and the fact that they looked like phantoms. Dark energy surrounded them making them look all the more demonic. The female summoner started chanting and moments later, a rift appeared beneath the feet of the Demons. Out of the rift, appeared a stone golem that started to pick up the Demon Zombies and smash them into the ground.

A few moments later, all the zombies were taken care of and the party extracted the Demonic Cores. The party searched the room for any loot. They found a treasure c.h.e.s.t that contained a few Demonic Weapons and Demonic Cores. They also found a corpse that the zombies had been feeding on. When the Female Summoner had spotted it, she fell on her bottom, horrified. It was a human, specifically a Demon Hunter. This Gate was probably one that had reopened in a different area after it had been sealed.

They found an Emblem with an "E" on it, showing that it was an E-ranked Demon Hunter.

"What a tragic end."

One of the swordsmen sighed as he burnt a few joss sticks in respect for the fallen Demon Hunter. They opened a door and continued down another hallway. They continued to fight Demonic Zombies for about 3 hours before they finally made it to the end of the hallway.

By this time, Anthony's friends had finished their research and sat down and the sofa next to him to watch the live stream.

The party finally approached a pair of large double doors. There were large knockers on them that made one think of those entrances to the throne room. The party took care of their wounds and opened the gate. What was behind the door gave them a good fright.

The room was lined with blue torches and there was a black carpet leading all the way to the throne. On the two sides, lined 40 armored skeleton guards, holding pikes, swords and shields, and two-handed swords. There was a Demon Zombie sitting on the throne with a black crown on its head. There was a black greatsword in its l.a.p as it rested its head in its hand.

But that wasn't the shocking part. What was shocking was the pile of human skulls on each side of the throne. There was also a collection of emblems. With the ranks going all the way up to SSS. The Demon Hunters paled and were about to run away when the guards started to move. They started to slaughter the Demon Hunters. Demon Hunters fell left and right in their futile attempt to stay alive. The viewers watched in horror as the valiant Demon Hunters were brutally taken apart limb by limb.

When there were only 5 left, the guards suddenly moved back to their places. The Demon Hunters were shaking from head to toe. There were stricken expressions on every one of the survivors. They could see the bodies of those that they would've called friends on the Throne Room floor. One of the Demon Hunters started to shout.

"Why do you do this to us?! Why do you leave us alive?! You've already killed our friends just end us as well!"

There were 3 E-ranked Demon Hunters and 2 D-ranked Demon Hunters left, all were ranged and one of them was the summoner. The summoner dropped to her knees, a blank expression on her face. She had just watched all her friends die in front of her and could still see the bodies that were previously alive and moving, one of those was even her loved one. Three of the Demon Hunters could still stand while the other 2 were writhing on the floor from their previous injuries. The two Demon Hunters tried to help, but they could see the Skeleton Guards start to move when they took a step forward.

The summoner watched helplessly as the blood slowly drained from her friends' bodies. Their agonized screams filled the air as they slowly died. The trio looked at the Demon Zombie sitting on the throne a mixture of fear and anger shown on their faces. But when they looked closer, they realized it wasn't a normal Demon Zombie. This one had features closer to an Executor. it had pointed ears and previously pale features.

A few moments later, the creaking of armor could be heard as the Demon Zombie stood up from its throne.

Clank. Clank.

The sound of clanking armored boots could be heard echoing in the silent throne room. The trio could hear their hearts beating in their c.h.e.s.ts as they watched knowing that their end was nigh. The Summoner turned insane with grief, summoned a large Stone Golem with all of her remaining mana. She threw herself forward at the Demon Zombie. Strangely enough, none of the guards moved and the Demon Zombie continued moving forward at a steady pace.

The Stone Golem threw a mighty punch at the Demon Zombie. Many viewers, finally awakening from their shock, could be seen cheering for the Summoner in the chat. Then came the moment of impact, the viewers wanted to be optimistic but had to face the facts. If the guards were already so strong, how strong would their King be?

When the Stone Golem's fist reached the Demon Zombie, it collapsed into a pile of dust. Suddenly, the Demon Zombie's hand reached out and grasped the Female Summoner by the head. She was suspended and started to squirm. She started to batter at the Demon Zombie and cry out obscenities. She even started crying as she continued to fall into the depths of insanity.

The Demon Zombie lifted its head to watch the Summoner. A passive and unfazed expression was glued to its face as if it was just another normal day in its life. Then, its expression started to change. The two survivors standing in their places became even more horrified. The Demon Zombie had a sadistic smile in its face. It continued to smile as it slowly tightened its grip on the Summoner's head. The viewers could hear the cracking of the skull as the Summoner slowly died.

The Summoner still continued her useless struggle, screaming as she felt her skull slowly become crushed into powder. The two survivors started to shriek in fear and tried to run towards the door. An expression of hope appeared on their faces as they initially saw that the guards weren't going to move. But when they were just about to exit the room. They quickly had their legs crushed by the guards and were thrown back to their previous positions.

Their cries of despair were the only things left filling the room, for the Summoner's life had finally ended. With a sadistic smile still plastered on its face, the Demon Zombie continued to proceed forwards towards the two Demon Hunters on the floor.

"Please! No! I have a family!"

One of the Demon Hunters shrieked as he was picked up by the Demon Zombie. Before anything else could happen, the stream quickly shut off. The streaming service had been notified by the crazy amount of flags on the live stream for too much gore. They quickly shut it off when they realized that there was going to be a team wipe, but the psychological damage had already been done. Many viewers sat at home reflecting on how lucky their lives were.

Anthony shuddered.

What a horrible way to end.

Anthony thought to himself. Back in his previous life, he would never have the courage to do something like Demon hunting, but to get revenge on that damned god, to find a way to make life better for his family and friends, and to avenge those people that he had just watched die, he would do anything.
