Anthony started to become slightly awkward.

"Hey... Jordan. Could you let go of my hand?"

Jordan snapped out of his daydream and let go of Anthony's hand with a start.

"I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have spaced out like that!"

Jordan let out a torrent of apologies towards Anthony. Anthony tried his best and eventually assuaged Jordan. Jordan let out a few deep breaths and the two continued on with their waiting. Jordan and Anthony conversed about their dreams for the guild and the heights that it would reach. Of course, they had to be realistic. They were quite sure that they could only - at most - be able to reach the top 300 or so worldwide.

"We should be able to get to the top 300 before the end of our lifetime."

Stronger Demon Hunters could live for a lot longer than normal humans. Their body tissue is more durable and would continue reproducing past 100 years of age. Only their power would determine how long they could live. The strongest one, Philip Gunderson, had the possibility of living for up to 500 years. The Demon Hunter Association was the place that all that aspired to become Demon Hunters would go.

One would pay a small fee of 1,000 U.S. dollars. Many of those that were poor had different types of tests that would determine if they had the potential to become a demon hunter. If those cheaper alternatives gave positive results, they would then decide if they would risk their already unstable financial situation for a small hope.

Before they could continue their conversation, the Secretary entered into the room and announced the good news.

"Good news! Your father will meet with you shortly. He just has to wrap up the meeting and then you'll have some time with him to yourself."

Anthony thanked the Secretary and continued his conversation with Jordan. About half an hour later, the Secretary came in and guided Anthony to his father's office. She pressed the button for the intercom and spoke into it.

"Your son is here for you Mr. Nguyen."

The beeping noise could be heard and then a cl.i.c.k.i.n.g sound as the doors automatically opened. The Secretary gestured for Anthony to enter and went back to her station.

Anthony took a deep breath and entered the office. He had thought he was mentally prepared for what was to come, but alas, he wasn't. Tears started to drip out of the corner of his eyes, he hadn't spent much time with his parents and his dad had passed away not too long after he had left. He had argued with him a lot and had thought that he wouldn't need such an annoying father.

When he had shown up to his father's funeral, his tears told a different story. He hadn't realized how much his father had meant to him in life. His father had died in a work accident. After Anthony had left, his father had blamed himself for bad parenting. One day when he was managing the hardware in the research facility, the equipment had malfunctioned and an explosion had resulted in him being hospitalized. A few days later, he had passed away.

When Anthony showed up at the funeral, his aunts and uncles looked away from him. He knew that his mom didn't blame him. She still hoped that he would stay at home with her. He came back home for a while, but when his mom also passed away from a fatal illness not too long later, he decided to continue his life on the streets.

Anthony sat down in the cushioned chair in front of the desks. The office chair turned around to display a big man with a freshly shaved face. He looked in his mid-30s but was actually in his late 40s. His expression turned from one of fatigue to one of delight. He started to smile broadly.

"Anthony, my boy! I thought they were just playing a cruel prank on me! But here you are in front of me! Alive and twitching."

Anthony's father stood up from his chair and went around his desk to give Anthony a bear hug. Anthony smiled and hugged him back with all his strength.

"I love you to father."

Anthony said in reply. After a few more minutes of hugging, they separated and sat down in their respective seats.

"What would you like to talk about son?"

Anthony's father asked, waiting expectantly. Anthony cleared his throat and replied almost instantaneously.

"Father, I would like to become a Demon Hunter."

Anthony's father was surprised.

"What have you done with my Anthony?"

He asked, looking at Anthony suspiciously as if checking to see if he was using a disguise of some sort.

"I'm still the same Anthony, father."

Anthony replied, laughing as he saw his father's expression. His father's eyes brightened. He could recognize that laugh anywhere.

"Why do you suddenly want to become a Demon Hunter?"

His father asked.

"This is a very serious matter. You must know that."

Anthony nodded in reply.

"I understand father, and this is my final decision."

"You don't have to do this. Your brother's already a Demon Hunter. You don't have to prove yourself to me."

His father asked, worried about Anthony's safety.

"That's not all that this is about. Its about my personal pride also father. I haven't had the best reputation and I would like to prove myself to the world. I want to become of use to you and my friends."

Anthony stated confidently and truthfully. His father's eyes beamed with pride in response. He started to laugh.

"If that's what you decided then I shall support you wholeheartedly, on one condition."

Anthony was slightly confused.

"What is it, father?"

His father hesitated for a moment, before steeling himself and replying.

"I've signed off your inheritance to your brother. He had come in telling me that you had died. Since you're still alive, I will give you enough for you to start your guild, but no more and no less. If you do well, I will give you back your inheritance. But if your brother continues to outperform you constantly, I will allow him to keep it. Make me proud son."

Anthony was stupefied. He hadn't realized that so much had happened while he was dead. His brother was too greedy that he had stolen Anthony's inheritance without any hesitation. Anthony sighed. He would have to fix these family relations. His previous life hadn't been the best older brother.

"Father, I accept your conditions."
