Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 145 - Clear The Misunderstanding

Just like what Matthew Xi promised, they arrived at the address Zoey sent in thirty minutes. They didn't need to knock as Zoey already opened the door at the same time they arrived.

"I knew you'd arrive in thirty minutes." She smiled, winking at Matthew Xi before shifting her gaze to Enzo Li, and then glared at Zion Kwan.

"Tsk. I said bring a good doctor." Zoey clicked her tongue, rolling her eyes towards Zion Kwan which made his brows furrow.

"Handsome, at least six feet tall, in his early 30's, and kind. Mr. Kwan is six feet tall and in his early thirties — I am unsure of the first and last clause but he, at least, filled the other half." Taking her annoyance and obvious diss seriously, Matthew Xi responded flatly.

However, Zion Kwan, Enzo Li, and even Zoey stared at him strangely. It was as if they could not believe how he seemed like he couldn't understand a simple joke.

'Big bro, Big Brother Ion can hear you...!' Enzo Li commented inwardly, surprised and not at the same time at Matthew Xi's lack of humor.

"Mr. Xi, I don't know if that's on purpose, but we came here for an out-patient check up." Despite his twitching brows, Zion Kwan tried to shrug the indirect insult for questioning his looks and kindness.

Zion Kwan never dwelled on such qualities of his. However, the way Matthew Xi uttered his words were sort of insulting in a way.

"Pfft—!" On the other hand, Zoey bit her lower lip to refrain herself from laughing out loud. Whether or not Matthew Xi did it on purpose, it somehow backed up her silly indirect verbal attack towards Zion Kwan.

"No, Mr. Kwan. You're here because you're our hostage." Turning to Zion Kwan, Matthew Xi corrected.

Upon hearing his last remarks, it rendered the two men speechless. Right... he's in character as Zoey's lackey; Zoey, the mob boss.

"Correct! You, Mr. Kwan, are our hostage and I'm entrusting my compadre's life in your hands! You'll know what happens if you do something silly..." Nodding her head, Zoey announced as she turned to Zion Kwan before she gestured a neck slitting action upon her last remarks.

"Uh..." For a second, Zion Kwan pinched the bridge of his nose in distress. He was used to Zoey's absurdness. However, having an addition named Matthew Xi, it was a double trouble.

"Anyway, come in." Smirking at the mental stress she and Matthew Xi was causing to Zion Kwan, Zoey smiled as she opened the door wide open.

Zion Kwan dragged his feet inside and Enzo Li did the same reluctantly. When Matthew Xi entered, Zoey walked in his side and leaned closer. "You're doing a good job — should I reward you?"

Matthew Xi just cast her a side eye and said nothing. He wasn't doing it for her... well, partially it was because of her.

However, Matthew Xi also has an ulterior motive. That was to not go easy on Zion Kwan. After hearing the truth, Matthew Xi might've acted cool but parts of him were displeased.

Not the fact that they caused Zoey's parents death. But rather because of the fact they concealed the truth to save their Kwan Family.

Adopting Zoey was not enough to compensate her. In Matthew Xi's perspective, the truth was the rightful gesture of sincerity.

"Ehh? So cold as ever..." Zoey pouted with the usual cold treatment from him.

"It's just a slight fever. If she continues to take the medicines I prescribed, she'll feel better in a day or two." Zion Kwan explained, causing Zoey to heave a sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear..." She whispered, glancing at Cora Ma who was fast asleep on her bed.

Zion Kwan had put her on an IV drip. Since it was a girl's bedroom, only Zion Kwan and Zoey entered the room while the two waited outside.

"Mhmm..." Zion Kwan hummed a tune, staring at the innocent sleeping face of Cora Ma. "If that's all you need, I have to head back to the hospital." After staring at Cora Ma for a minute, Zion Kwan slowly raised his gaze and set it on Zoey. "Please look after her until she recovers."

"No can do." Zoey shook her head, clicking her tongue lazily.

"Why? Because of Matthew Xi?" Furrowing his brows, Zion Kwan frowned. "Is he more important than your friend?" He asked, disappointed at Zoey.

"Of course not. You're all important to me that's why I can't. You should personally look after her since it's your fault in the first place." Zoey shrugged her shoulders, pushing all the blame to Zion Kwan.

"My fault?"

"Uh huh, duh? You know she's a virgin, right? You should have been more gentle." Without a pause, Zoey didn't filter her words since it was only the two of them around — Cora Ma aside.

Zion Kwan was momentarily in a daze before he snapped back to reality. Of course, he knew Cora Ma was a virgin. After all, there were stains of blood left on the sheet where they did the deed.

However, how did she know? No, that's not the question... how could she open up the subject so easily? This was his private and personal life!

"No, there's no scientific study that proved—"

"I see, so you guys did it...?" Even before Zion Kwan could finish his argument, Zoey interrupted as she glanced at him with a conflicted look.

"Uh..." Realizing she tricked him to reveal the truth, Zion Kwan could not find the right words to say. She truly got her off-guard this time.

"Big Brother, I can't believe I have this urge to feel ashamed that I call you my brother." Snapping her tongue, Zoey looked at him straight in the eye as a glint flickered across her eyes. "I know, I don't know what happened and what's the problem. However, how can you make my dear friend cry? You're an *sshole." Zoey didn't need to sugarcoat her words as she spouted her disappointment to him.

For a minute, Zion Kwan and Zoey said nothing further as silence filled the air. Letting out a heavy, distress scoff, Zion Kwan loosened his tie as he paced back and forth. "I know that and I am upset with myself too. But what can I do? She acted as if she regretted being with me for a night and I am a fool for expecting a good outcome because of the spur of the moment." Facing Zoey, Zion Kwan finally let his emotions take over him as he ruffled his hair.

"I am not like you who can accept multiple rejections and still get up. Not everyone is like you, Z." Another deep exhale slipped from his lips along with his words. "I can't risk losing her completely by forcing her to like me." He added, intensifying the pang of pain since two days ago.

"I see..." Nodding her head in understanding, Zoey glanced at Cora Ma who was lying on her side — facing Zoey. Zoey could see the tears that escaped from her closed eyes, which made Zoey smile a little.

"Why don't you tell her that? Hey you, you heard all that, right?" Talking to Cora Ma who was on the bed, pretending to be asleep, Zoey spoke, which caused Zion Kwan to stand rooted on the floor.

"Settle this amongst yourselves — this is as far as I can help you." Glancing at Zion Kwan, Zoey smiled as she nodded as a gesture of encouragement. "Also, stop with the melodramatic misunderstanding. Speak what's on your mind — jeez, the phrase communication is the key is so popular, yet you act as if you guys don't know." As Zoey trudged outside of the room, she spoke her mind.

She stopped as she held onto the door and turned around to give her last piece of reminder. "Anyway, you're not getting any younger. So hasten up the marriage date, I'll postpone mine so my big brother can marry first before me.." With a wink, Zoey chuckled before leaving the two alone to talk.
