One hour later...

Vivian Xi glanced at Paul Qian who was standing on the side of the room while she was having a tea party with other Madams. At the same time, Butler Yi stood straight after whispering the current report about what was occurring outside the room. 

"How can he go overboard?" Vivian Xi whispered, shaking her head as she felt disheartened at the update she received. 

Currently, all people that were acquainted with Paul Qian had already tasted Matthew Xi's manhunt. Paul Qian friends, whether they work in the XI Corporations or just old friends that were living their life in peace had received a memo from their superiors demanding their resignation at the end of the day. 

Some who had small businesses were being asked to close down because of many reasons. Paul Qian's family was also not safe, as his only sister who was still studying had received an abrupt expulsion notice while his parents who were farmers also faced problems in their land. 

Not just that, Enzo Li, who was close with Paul Qian wasn't left unscathed. Vivian Xi received a report that RB Entertainment which was under Ruby Xi's name, her niece, was pressured to let Enzo Li off. 

To make things worse, Ruby Xi was being pressured to blacklist Enzo Li and spread the word. It was a total massacre out there as Ruby Xi had been calling Vivian Xi's assistant nonstop because her niece knew where the order came from. 

In other words, everyone could only turn to Vivian Xi as she was the only one capable of putting a stop on the tyrant rampaging Matthew Xi. Little did they know, Vivian Xi could only hide Paul Qian until her son calmed down. 

Aside from that, Vivian Xi could not do anything about it. After all, she couldn't control Matthew Xi anymore especially now that he had the same influence as her — probably already surpassed her. 

Moreover, Vivian Xi also found her son's actions a little overboard. She knew that he was destructive, but this was irrational. He didn't even let his own cousin off! 

Vivian Xi just didn't know if Matthew Xi trusted her that much that she would hold up until he calmed down. "I knew this would happen once he knew what my daughter-in-law thinks about him... but, why must he hear her call someone handsome?" Vivian Xi muttered, massaging her temple in distress. 

"Madam Xi, are you alright?" One Madam of the upper echelon who had noticed the strange silence from Vivian Xi, inquired out of pure concern. 

"Yes," Vivian Xi didn't even convince herself about it, but she was already too troubled to explain further. "Anyway, I'll catch up with you ladies next time. I have to move before my son comes to fetch me." Changing the subject, Vivian Xi slowly rose from her seat as she bid her farewell. 

As a sign of high respect, the Madams stood up and bowed their heads slightly. They insisted on sending her off, but Vivian Xi refused. Hence, they could only abide. 

As they left the premises, Vivian Xi glanced at her shoulder as Paul Qian was silently following her without a word. "Assistant Qian, do you want to hear what's currently happening?" She asked, scrutinizing Paul Qian's unchanging demeanor. 

"Nevermind. You've been with my son and you probably guessed how horrible the situation is out there." Shaking her head, Vivian Xi shrugged the thought off as she figured out Paul Qian had an idea what's happening as he had executed orders from Matthew Xi before. 

Who would have thought that he would be in the same situation as those Matthew Xi's enemies in the past? Well, on the brighter side, he would probably think it's actually milder than the businesses they dealt in the past. 

"Well, since I'm not liking this anymore, it's time for a counter attack." Shaking her head once again, Vivian Xi pitied Paul Qian's situation. 

Paul Qian couldn't even face Matthew Xi as that would be foolish. They all knew that facing Matthew Xi was akin to pulling the pin of the grenade and throwing on the ground Paul Qian stood. It was just suicide and the outcome wouldn't change. 

"Counter...?"

"Yes, Assistant Qian. Good thing he now has his own weakness and that's the safest place now in this whole planet at this very moment." Stopping in front of the back passenger seat of the car, Vivian Xi faced Paul Qian's eyes that glinted with a little hope. 

Bowing his head, Paul Qian opened the door for Vivian Xi before she hopped inside. The moment Butler Yi and Paul Qian entered the driver and front passenger seat, Butler Yi glanced at the rear mirror before Vivian Xi smirked. 

"Z Image Building." Without further ado, Vivian Xi ordered which made Butler Yi nodded his head in understanding. 

On the other hand, Paul Qian's jaw nearly dropped in puzzlement. "By the way Assistant Qian, if you think the reason my son is hunting you down is because you failed to do your job in secret and got found out by Miss Zhou, you're wrong." Paul Qian heard Vivian Xi's chuckling voice from the back of the car. 

"My son has been eyeing Miss Zhou and serving as her assistant all this time. To put it simply, he's targeting you because he thinks you've stolen his woman's attention." Sighing in dismay, Vivian Xi also could not believe how petty her son's reasoning was, yet he was running amok as if he was cuckolded. 

"Anyway, since Miss Zhou is now his boss, he wouldn't dare touch her or he'll get fired. How silly and ironic, isn't it?." Thinking about this, Vivian Xi chuckled at the irony. 

Vivian Xi didn't plan on dragging Zoey in it in the first place. However, since everything got out of hand, she was forced to find refuge in Z Image Group as it was now the safest place in the world. 

"I see..." Paul Qian felt his energy drain upon hearing how he was partially at fault too. If he only knew that the man Zoey was talking about was Matthew Xi, he wouldn't even give that advice to her. 

After all, Paul Qian detailed their conversation and his reply as if he was just sharing gossip. Who would have thought as he did so, he also placed his neck on the chopping board and gave Matthew Xi the butcher knife as well?
