When Zoey calmed down, Cora sighed heavily. "Rest for now," She advised, stroking Zoey's hair as she helped her lie down as if her condition had worsened just by crying. Cora then tucked her in, sighing once again as she didn't have time to get mad at Ezekiel 'Jerk' Tang for making Zoey his mistress.

No wonder Zoey was acting a little different than usual yesterday. She probably had her suspicions towards Ezekiel Tang or anything of that sort. But last night, she probably confirmed that she was indeed a mistress for two years without her knowledge. Now, everything made sense to Cora.

Good thing, Zoey's subconscious mind was alert beforehand!

"Sissy, you don't have to worry about me. I will definitely forget about him." Like a child who was tucked in with half of her face covered by the blanket, Zoey affirmed. However, Cora assumed she was just saying that for her not to get worried. Little did she know, Zoey just didn't want Cora to confront Ezekiel on her behalf as that guy can do whatever he wanted in this lifetime and Zoey wouldn't care.

All Zoey wanted was to cut off all connections with Ezekiel Tang to lessen her problems. That's all. Perhaps, using his cheating as an excuse was enough payback for wasting Zoey's time for two years. She didn't want to deal with him anymore and exert efforts on shrugging that irrelevant character off.

"Mhmm," Cora just hummed a tune, stretching her lips up as she nodded her head. "Rest for today. I'll be back later tonight. I remember I have something to do in the office." She added, still bearing the gentle expression on her face.

For a moment, Zoey just stared at her and could tell she was lying. 'She'll go and confront him.' Zoey sighed internally. Well, not that Zoey was surprised because Cora also did the same in their previous life. She just hoped that her best friend would listen to her this time and let Ezekiel Tang off. But, it seemed impossible to happen.

"Okay…" Yet, despite figuring out what's going on inside Cora's mind, Zoey meekly answered with a smile. Upon seeing how well-behaved Zoey was acting, Cora patted her hand before she bid her farewell. With one last glance, Cora then departed the private ward.

As soon as Cora closed the door behind her, her eyes beneath her round reading glasses glinted. Although she still looked old-fashioned, her countenance showed solid resolve in confronting the guy who broke Zoey's heart. Even if she couldn't stand a chance, she wanted to stand with Zoey.

With that in mind, Cora took large stomps as she humphed. "That Tang Ezekiel… he is so dead!" Cora exclaimed through her gritted teeth as she walked and folded her sleeves up to her elbows.

"Me too. I gotta go." Minutes after Cora departed the private ward, Ivan pushed his palms against his upper knees as he stood up. Picking up his jacket, Ivan tossed it over his shoulder. "I will come back later… maybe tomorrow since that granny will stay here." He added, shaking his head as he languidly shifted his gaze to Zoey.

"Ah? Where are you going?" Zoey knitted her brows, tilting her head to the side as she recalled Ivan telling her she would watch over her the whole day. In that case, Matthew Xi wouldn't be able to take advantage of her. But now, he was leaving too? Not that Zoey mind, but where?

"I have a date." Without batting an eye, Ivan answered.

As soon as Zoey heard his response, she narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "No, you don't." Zoey uttered, shaking her head as she sat right up as if she was full of vigor who didn't need care and affection from anyone.

"Huh, yes I do." Ivan scoffed, a smirk formed on the side of his lips as he wasn't surprised what kind of date he was talking about.

After seeing Zoey bawl her eyes, Ivan still got the grasp of what was the conversation. Although the main point Zoey being the third party was left unknown to him, Ezekiel Tang made her cry. That was enough reason for Ivan to get even with that person.

No one, whether it was Ezekiel Tang or Inigo could hurt his sister while he was alive. He wouldn't just break their bones, but he would make sure they would remember to receive mental trauma. Ivan might be young, but in terms of strength, he wasn't lagging behind Zoey or Nikolai.

"Stay here and stop being a pushover." Ivan spouted in mockery, nearly rolling his eyes as he began walking away.

"Jeez... " As Zoey watched him exit, she scratched the back of her head. If only she knew this would happen, she would have used her initial plan: blame Matthew Xi for everything. Neither Cora or Ivan would stand a chance and the problem wouldn't get this out of hand.

"Wait--!" Just as Ivan reached the door, Zoey called out while pinching the space between her brows.

"No, sis. I can't just sit and --" However, before he could finish his sentence, Zoey interrupted him midway.

"No, not that." Zoey answered, shaking her head. "Follow Cora and observe." She ordered under her breath.

"And why would I follow that Granny?" He asked, his right brow arching as he gave her the look of dismay. Didn't she see that Ivan and Cora had this strong dislike against each other? Thus, why would Ivan want to follow that woman who has no sense of style nor a remarkable demeanor that one would remember her?

"She's courting death. Just observe and if anything goes wrong, do what a gentleman needs to do." Zoey explained, sighing heavily as she would rather let Ivan protect Cora this time and put the unknown root of their dislike towards one another on a truce.

For a minute, Ivan stayed silent as he had a battle of gaze against Zoey before he spoke. "No. She's old enough to know what's right and wrong." His tone bore conviction as he refused. "Have a good rest, sis.." With that being said, Ivan left Zoey who was rendered speechless.
