Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 362 - Good Time To Live

"Have a goodnight, Miss Zhou." Matthew resumed in his steps, slowly closing the door behind him. He kept his cool as he walked through the empty office, and then exited.

His steps never faltered, stepping one after another at the same pace. He didn't even notice how he took the stairs, going through the lobby, and now standing outside the entrance. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes at the same time and then exhaled.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and looked up at the night sky full of stars. "How pretty and dark…" He whispered, breathing heavily as his heart beat faster than usual. He might've acted cool in front of Zoey, but deep down, his heart was racing when he kissed the back of her hand.

It sent a strange electricity running throughout his nerves. No, actually, he already had these foreign emotions since the first time he laid his eyes on her. The more he interacted with her, the more those alien feelings intensified.

And now, when he was looking at her hand, his heart clenched. Matthew was not an empathic person. He wouldn't bat an eye even if a person was working hard day and night. He would think that's just life for them — that's the race they're in.

Call him arrogant, but what else could others expect from someone who was raised to become a ruler? He was spoon fed with a golden spoon, served with a golden tray, and everything would go according to his order. However, upon examining and holding her rough hand, it made him reflect on his perspective and how narrow they were.

Because of her, he had to question his beliefs and himself. Unlike him, who didn't need to go through everything and start from scratch, Zoey was more amazing; more amazing than his achievements and all successful business ventures. Not that Matthew was belittling his own achievements, it was just that he wouldn't know if he could do what she had done.

Maybe if he was born poor, he would do everything to get out of poverty. But, these ideas were easier said than done. They were actually hard to imply in reality; that's why his opinion of her changed slightly. However, he couldn't deny that she was a complex and mysterious person because he had witnessed how Zoey dealt with the intruder earlier.

It could be an act, but Matthew highly doubted that. She felt more genuine than ever when she threatened the man; a glimpse of her real self about whom he wanted to know more about. How many sides of her were there? Matthew wondered.

"Young Master," Just as Matthew was deeply engrossed in his thoughts, Paul Qian came to him and bowed his head. "Are you alright?" he asked, gazing at his boss from head to toe worriedly.

"I am." Matthew knitted his brows as he tilted his head to the side. "Why do you look so worried?" He asked out of curiosity.

"Young Master?" Equally baffled, Paul Qian also tilted his head a little to the side. "You sent an emergency call earlier." He explained briefly, reminding him the reason he was worried. After all, an emergency call from Matthew meant he was in a life and death situation and needed reinforcement as soon as possible.

"Ah…" Upon hearing the short yet precise reminder from his assistant, Matthew nodded his head. "Right…" He massaged his shoulder, raising his brows as an inaudible whistle escaped his lips.

Normally, he wouldn't need such detail. However, his thoughts were filled with Zoey. Thus, he forgot such an important detail which never happened in the past. "That's new," He chuckled, shaking his head as he found this amusing in a way.

"Young Master?" Puzzled at why his boss was suddenly laughing out of nowhere, Paul Qian narrowed his eyes in worry as he scanned him from head to toe. He wanted to check if his boss was truly fine or something inside this small building occurred again.

"It's nothing, Paul." Slowly, Matthew returned his attention back to his assistant. His lips stretched into a meek smile. "Anyway, can you send all the business transactions we had with Feng's Estate? Or with Feng Jimmy. I want them all by tomorrow." Without further ado, Matthew changed the topic and recalled his initial thoughts previously before he was enthralled with Zoey.

"Ah… yes, young master." Although Paul Qian was slightly puzzled by this order, he still agreed and bowed his head as an answer for obedience.

"Don't worry. I just happened to avail fortune-telling services. I'm thinking of reviewing all doors as mentioned." Paul Qian's eyes gleamed in utter curiosity but he restrained himself from probing. Matthew smiled as he gave him a vague idea why he was doing all that.

After all, Paul Qian was smart. He would get the gist of it. Not that Matthew was planning on meddling in Zoey's affairs; he was just curious how she'll handle someone that was worthy enough for him to consider doing huge projects in the future.

With that being said, Matthew took strides towards his ride while Paul followed behind. They steadily left the area in peace while Matthew stared at the window. Their speed caused the lights on the side of the highway to make a blurry one line.

Image of the dangerous and shy Zoey resurfaced from his memory. Slowly, as he was deep in his thoughts, his reflection on the mirror reflected to him. Matthew, who was rarely aware of his reactions, witnessed the gentle smile on his face for the first time.

He nearly didn't recognize himself. Cautiously, his hand crept to his face, confirming that the smiling man on the reflection was him. "Haha," He chuckled, drawing his hand away as he shook his head. "What a good time to live." Under his breath, he muttered before leaning his back against the backseat and closed his eyes to rest.

Meanwhile, Paul Qian and the driver of the car subconsciously glanced at the rear mirror upon hearing their boss laugh.. The next second, he muttered words that made the driver and Paul glanced at each other — both confused at what's happening to their usually silent boss.
