Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 427 - I’m Curious If You’ll Be My Wife Or Not

As Zoey went out of the office, she glanced at Melanie who pointed her finger down, gesturing her downstairs. "Work well, people~! Fighting~!" Zoey cheered, skipping her steps out of the office with high energy.

'Aiya, it's really tough to shrug Angelo off.' As she took the stairs down the building, Zoey sighed as she stopped skipping her steps and walked normally. 'He tells me I'm the boss, yet bosses me around. Hah! Does he think I'm wasting my days here? He doesn't even know that our first ever big client is a member of the underworld. Geez!' Zoey grumbled internally, considering whether she should inform Angelo about it.

She somehow thought she didn't need to hide that fact from him. After all, Zoey had considered him an ally. Although he was a little fickle, Zoey had always trusted her instinct.

Angelo hadn't told her the real reason why he turned his back on him. Still, knowing Inigo, he had probably gone over the line and Zoey could only think of the worse. Whatever it was, it didn't matter to her.

What matters was the person waiting for her outside the building. Zoey had tons of questions that kept her awake all night last night. She just couldn't shrug it off and needed to find out what kind of person Matthew was.

As soon as she exited the building, Zoey turned her head to her right where he parked before but to no avail. Thus, she turned her head to her left.

There, Matthew was leaning on the hood of a black sedan. His hands were shoved inside his pocket as he was staring at her languidly. Matthew didn't say anything, but jerked his chin up as a greeting.

'What is he doing outside? Did he purposely sit there just like those models in the magazines?' Zoey sassed internally, seeing how cool he looked was with his pose at the moment.

She cleared her throat, shaking her thoughts as this wasn't the time to admire him. Slowly, she trudged towards him. "How are you?" As soon as she stopped several steps before him, she inquired out of instinct. Zoey didn't even think as her lips moved without her permission.

"Good, you?" Yet, he remained calm and asked back. "I didn't think something like that would traumatize you." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew tilted his head to the side as he fixed his eyes on her.

Zoey opened her lips, but closed them again after a second. Instead of responding to him, she remained silent while her hands behind her clenched tightly. 'Not now, Z.' She reminded herself internally.

"Anyway, I didn't think you would actually come." Slowly, Matthew retracted his bum away from the hood as he stood straight. "You've been pushing me away, but now that I want a real date, you just agreed." He walked towards the passenger seat, opening the door before he turned to her.

"Please," He gestured his hand towards the front passenger seat.

Zoey stared at him for a little while before she started going towards the door he opened for her. "I have my reasons, and thank you." Zoey answered before hitching inside the front passenger seat.

Matthew just nodded his head in understanding before closing the door carefully. Zoey watched him jog over the other side and reach the driver's seat. "Where's your assistant and driver?" As soon as he entered, Zoey inquired.

"You want Paul tagging along?' Yet, Matthew only focused on the word 'assistant', which made her brows twitch.

'I'm just curious, duh?" She rolled her eyes, her hand reached for the seatbelt as she buckled herself up.

"Miss Zhou," Matthew, who was facing her and watching her buckle up called out in a low tone.

"What?"

"I wonder what's with my assistant that you're more curious about him than about me." His words didn't falter, coldness instantly enveloped the inside of the vehicle even before the air conditioner was turned on. "I believed I already expressed my take on this. Are you purposely mentioning another man's name in front of me to put a wedge between me and my assistant?" He added, still bearing the same tone which nearly made her gasp in disbelief.

"Wait a minute." Zoey raised her hands to her shoulder level. "It should be a wedge between us -- not you and Assistant Qian." She corrected, casting him a disdainful glance as she believed he would still choose Paul over her.

After all, he barely knew her… well, in this lifetime, yes. Therefore, why did he sound like he valued her more than the people who had been with him for years?

"I thought so too," Matthew just shrugged, giving her a vague explanation before he returned his attention on starting the car's engine.

'Huh?' Zoey frowned, knitting her brows together as she watched him drive slowly. 'What did he mean, he thought so too?' She wondered, pondering on what kind of answer was that.

While Zoey spent her time rubbing her chin lightly, busy thinking at his answer instead of asking him, Matthew gave her a side eye. The corner of his lips curled into a meek smile, "If you were not you, maybe, I'd cut you off for being such a headache."

"Ah?" The sudden break of silence made her confused. She tilted her head to the side, blinking her eyes in puzzlement as his last remarks played inside her head.

"Hah," A short chuckle slipped past his lips as he kept his eyes on the road. "The reason I want to date you for real is out of pure curiosity." Matthew didn't sugarcoat his words as he spoke his mind and intention.

Zoey remained silent, staring intently at his side profile as he explained his real reason for the sudden proposal last night. Well, she didn't feel insulted after hearing that he was just curious. After all, she had been bluntly telling him that she had her reasons as well.

Just then, his next words immediately caused her to let out a series of coughs.. "I'm curious if you'll be my wife or not."
