"Because I don't care."

Matthew answered without batting an eye that shut up Ivan. Even Zoey who was listening in silence was taken aback by the answer.

Although Zoey was clueless how Matthew figured her connection with the Silva Family, she thought she would get a hint from his answer. After all, everything just didn't make sense to her.

However, with that simple 'I don't care', somehow, Zoey realized that Matthew's train of thoughts was too simple. Even if he knew, he didn't care because he knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid of picking a fight if necessary.

"You… you don't care?"

"I like your sister as a person. Whatever her past is or her connection to the underworld king, it doesn't matter to me." Matthew shrugged in nonchalance as he stared at Ivan straight in the eye. "She cut her ties with him. Unless your boss or you went back on your words, I don't see any reason why I should pick a fight with you."

Matthew added in the same languid manner. Since Matthew believed that Zoey didn't officially join hands with Nikolai, he believed that Zoey's current standing in the Silva Family could be nullified easily.

Although Matthew only knew a thing or two, he made it sound as if he knew everything for Ivan to take the bait. He didn't like Ivan being an obstacle in this lifetime.

After all, Matthew had witnessed Zoey and Ivan's bond. No matter what happened in their previous life time, if Zoey and Ivan could continue their relationship like this, Matthew could forgive Ivan.

Just like what he wanted, he didn't want to make the same mistake in the past. If he could change everything and correct everyone's path, then, he didn't mind keeping everyone's secret to his grave.

"I think I said enough. You're not dumb enough to put the pieces together, Ivan." Matthew arched his right brow as he rested his jaw on the back of his hand. "Or should I call you by your alias, Simon?"

Upon hearing Matthew's last remarks, Ivan froze. The reason his existence in the underworld was hidden because he had a different name known by others. Only the family members knew Ivan's real name, which he was currently using.

Just like Zoey, who was known as Zia, Ivan was known as Simon and not Ivan. So, how did Matthew know about it?

"Don't worry. I don't plan on anything that I know. I just want a peaceful life — that's all." Matthew reassured as he watched how Ivan turned pale as a sheet.

"You," Through his gritted teeth, Ivan swallowed a mouthful of saliva as his hand balled into a fist. "Do you think I'll let you get away that easily after knowing what you know?"

Ivan mocked as a twisted smirk plastered on the corner of his lips. He couldn't let someone as dangerous as Matthew at large. Who knows what he had in mind knowing 'everything' regarding the Silva Family?

"No," Matthew answered and yet, his tone was oddly calm. "I know saying I know a thing or two would put my life at risk."

"Hah! At least you know that." Ivan chuckled as he turned his head back. He looked around and searched where Matthew's men were hidden, but to no avail.

At this point, Ivan realized the people were farther away than he expected. They were in a location that was beyond the reach of the naked eye. They wouldn't take a spot so far if they were not confident with their skills.

Ivan realized all that in a blink of an eye. Thus, no matter how vexed he was at Matthew's confidence, he must commend him for that. Or rather, he commended his capability to tame such monsters.

"If you drop dead now, your boss wouldn't just sit still. He would surely chase me to the ends of the world until either of us were alive. That's the kind of a man your boss is." Matthew stared at Ivan's side profile who was searching for the sniper before he moved his gaze back to Zoey's blank front.

Matthew stared at Zoey's visage but he couldn't read what was going inside her mind at the moment. Everything was hard to process, but he had already decided to tell her a part of the truth — that was the real face of the small family he had built.

"However, you're Zoey's dear little brother. I won't harm you nor I have the plan to do so. It's your choice whether to believe my words, but if I plan on harming you, I already did before anyone could realize anything." Matthew uttered his words while staring at Zoey straight in the eye.

Indeed, just like in his previous life, Ivan would disappear even before anyone could know. No one would notice that someone was already dead once Matthew ordered to take down someone. The news wouldn't even reach Zoey if only Matthew didn't die back then.

"Huh," Ivan let out a faint scoff as he couldn't believe he was hearing all this. For some reason, he felt his heart race out of fear because he truly underestimated this young master.

Matthew gave out the same vibe as that person: Inigo. They were both cunning and terrifyingly knowledgeable. The type of person Nikolai should be wary about.

"Dead men tell no tales. Why are you telling us all this if you don't plan on silencing us?" Ivan queried as he turned his sharp gaze towards Matthew.

"I already told you many times, do I have to repeat myself for the nth time?" Matthew cocked his head to the side as he recalled he had already said his own reason: Zoey.

"Her." Matthew turned his eyes back to Zoey's figure. "I like her and I won't do anything to make her cry. You can understand that simple reasoning now since you started liking her friend."

Matthew said in a matter-of-fact tone as he had his men tailing him since last night until today. He even knew that Ivan spent his entire afternoon with Cora and how he seemed genuinely happy with Cora around.

Unbeknownst to them, Cora who was intrigued at what was going on inside the CEO office was leaning her ear against the door. She heard everything which baffled her more than anyone. However, the last remarks Matthew spouted just rendered her speechless as she covered her mouth with her palm.

'What… what are they talking about?'
