Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

"Big Sis, you're so cool. How did you get them to agree?" In utter awe, Katherine wagged her invisible tail as she hurriedly walked beside Zoey.

"I threatened them." Without giving Katherine a look, Zoey answered bluntly.

"Huh?" Katherine's brows furrowed. "Threats don't work with new bodyguards anymore. My father's secretary briefs them thoroughly."

Katherine mumbled, scratching her temples as her old method doesn't work recently. Therefore, she found it weird that Zoey managed to succeed.

After a minute of walking through the corridor, Zoey halted. Zoey's sudden halt also made Katherine stop.

Slowly, Zoey faced Katherine with a poker face. "You nearly got abducted. They were not your father's men."

"What?"

"Call your father and check." Zoey didn't explain more as she shrugged her shoulders. "Gosh… I wonder how did you survive in this world of elites until now."

Without idling around, Zoey resumed in her steps. Meanwhile, Katherine watched Zoey return to the VIP Lounge area with a confused expression.

"Nearly got abducted?" She repeated under her breath.

She didn't believe Zoey's words were meant to be a literal term. After all, it was possible Zoey was saying she could sue the men right now because they were newly hired. Therefore, even if Katherine refused to go home, she could argue that she didn't know they were working for her father.

Although this conclusion sounded more rational, a part of Katherine still wanted to confirm. Hence, after careful consideration, Katherine called her brother who was favored by their father.

After many rings, the call finally came through and Katherine immediately heard her brother's cold voice.

"I'm busy. What do you want?"

"Are you with your father?" Katherine replied with the same coldness as her brother.

"I'm busy. I don't bother you when you're partying. So, don't call me if it's not important. You're wasting my time." With that being said, Katherine immediately sensed that her brother would cut the call short.

Therefore, before he could hang up on her, she asked.

"Did Father need something from me? Should I go home?"

"Kath, all Father needs from you is for you to behave. Especially now that we have an important meeting right now with the Xis. I will kill you myself if you bring shame to our family that could ruin the relationship we are building with the Xis."

With that being said, the call was cut short. Katherine immediately dropped her hand whilst holding the phone. Instantly, her lips behind her red lipstick grew pale as her knees shook.

Shocked and traumatized by the realization, Katherine leaned against the wall. She let out a heavy, sharp exhale.

"You nearly got abducted." Suddenly, Zoey's previous remarks flashed across her mind.

Upon recalling Zoey's words, Katherine scoffed in disbelief. She could feel her heart pound against her chest loudly as her breathing hitched. 

The thought of it scared even a crazy heiress like her. If not for Zoey, who knew what could have happened?

"I almost…" Under her breath, Katherine muttered. She clasped her hand on her chest. Katherine just escaped the worst case scenario she would ever face in her life.

"What did Niko want from her?" Zoey murmured as she walked back to the VIP Lounge. "A hostage?"

She wondered. Zoey pondered over Nikolai's connection with the Quin Family. However, no matter how much she tried to think of something that could connect the pieces together, she couldn't.

Another Professor Meng case?

Zoey thought. There was still a slight chance that Nikolai knew the Quin Family just like how he was acquainted with Professor Meng.

"Or…? Just a lesson?" Zoey added, stopping in her tracks as she rubbed her chin lightly.

If memory serves, the man earlier had come alone. Then, Katherine appeared and caused a scene. Followed by Kenneth and Enzo.

If Zoey thought of it thoroughly, Nikolai hated when his plans were being hindered by something -- especially by someone. Perhaps, Nikolai's initial objective was Zoey and Zion?

If so, then, it was only natural for Nikolai to go after Katherine. The person who ruined his plans to teach her a lesson or to just completely silence her.

Nikolai was that type of person. He was merciless and naturally wicked. His brief encounter with Matthew surely hurt his ego. Thus, he would surely not let it go that easily even if this was not his turf.

"Hah," Zoey scoffed as her third conclusion made more sense than the first two. "Did he want to use my brother to decide which side I want to choose?"

Zoey muttered to herself. Knowing Nikolai, he was that type of person who would use any underhanded means to get what he wanted.

"That…" Before Zoey could curse Nikolai, she noticed the person standing not far away from her in the opposite direction.

Slowly, Zoey raised her head and met Enzo's eyes. After blinking her eyes, Zoey threw all her thoughts to the back of her head and resumed in her steps.

Several steps away from Enzo, he suddenly blocked her way. 

"What are you doing?"

Zoey asked. Enzo stood firm, staring at Zoey straight in the eyes.

"What did I do to you?" Enzo asked without beating around the bush.

It was obvious that Zoey was hostile towards him. He was curious, why? Zoey seemed fine around Kenneth and Katherine. However, why does Zoey treated him differently?

"Huh?" Zoey arched her right brow, tilting her head to the side.

"I met you for the first time at the same time you met Kenneth. But, I already felt like you didn't like me at that time. I don't care whether you like or dislike me but," 

Enzo paused, raising his chin as he sported a brave face while confronting her. Yet, his hands inside his pockets balled into a fist.

"But, I want to know the reason."

"Haha!" Zoey let out a sarcastic laugh, shaking her head sideways. "You're sabotaging yourself. If you really don't care whether I like or dislike you, then, it's only natural not to care for the reason as well."

Zoey explained in a matter-of-fact tone. However, when Zoey dropped that remark, her eyes glinted menacingly.

"Don't worry. I don't like or hate you. It's not about you." Zoey reassured as she started walking away. 

Seeing her continuing in her steps, Enzo made a way while nodding his head. However, when Zoey brushed past him, Enzo asked again.

"Then, what is it about?"

Zoey halted, not looking back at him. "About me." With that, Zoey resumed with the same sharp expression.

'There's nothing wrong about you now, Enzo. However, I don't want to make the same mistake again and create a monster out of you. That's my way of respecting our friendship..' Zoey whispered in her head as memories from the previous life resurfaced from her memories.
