"I, uh…" Sarah's lower lip trembled as she tried to keep herself together. Her dead child was a sensitive discussion. Hence, no one had mentioned it to her until now.

"Madam Xi, I'm sorry but I don't think it is proper to run a background check on other people. Even if you do, this subject has been a sensitive matter to us." Zachery expressed sternly.

Losing their child was something they never talked about. That incident had only brought pain, especially for Sarah. Hence, even Zion didn't know about it.

Not that they wanted to forget their child, it just reminded them of their sins. The sins they could never revert, no matter how much they repented. Their child had paid the price for their sins, and it had left them with  a deep scar for forever.

Yet, Vivian was unfazed as she briefly raised her brows and exhaled through her mouth.

"I know it's a sensitive topic. It surprised me that you two seemed to value your daughter, but not Zoey. Was it because she's your child from that affair, Mister Kwan?" As blunt as she could be, Vivian tilted her head to the side.

This time, Zachery's expression truly changed. His eyes grew darker as his jaw tightened.

"Madam Xi, please…"

Alas, before he could finish, Vivian spoke again. "Madam Kwan doesn't seem to be surprised about it? I thought it was a secret that only Mister Kwan knew?"

"Hah," Displeased, Sarah let out a scoff. "Madam Xi, did you ask to meet us just so you can meddle with our personal life?"

"Meddle with your personal life?" Vivian smirked as she let out a short chuckle. "Oh, dear. It is not you two, I'm interested in. It just happened that I found something interesting while I'm at it."

Vivian scanned the two with a smirk. With powers and influence Vivian held, it wasn't hard to dig about a person's history.

That night she told Matthew that Sarah might know about a thing or two, Vivian had made her own digging. It was hard at first since the Kwan's and Zheng's had been discreet about this marriage.

But there's nothing impossible with enough money to dig more. In the end, Vivian had found interesting occurrences which kept her occupied for weeks.

There wasn't proof yet, but it only needed a DNA test to prove her theory.

"Madam, if you came to meet us to read our history, I'm afraid we are wasting our time." Zachery firmly uttered, as he slowly rose from his feet.

Sarah glanced at her husband. Her eyes flickering with dismay as this wasn't what she had expected. Therefore, she also stood up, prompting to leave.

Meanwhile, Vivian leaned back as she watched the two stand up. When Sarah picked up her bag and Zachery beckoned to his wife the way, Vivian smirked.

"What if she's not dead?" As soon as Vivian uttered that, both froze.

Slowly, they turned their eyes full of disbelief to Vivian.

"What do you mean?" asked Sarah whose heart raced upon hearing that.

"Your daughter, I mean." Vivian glanced at the person who knocked and entered the private diner room.

"Why don't you two sit down?" Vivian suggested as the food was being served.

Yet, Zachery and Sarah's gaze didn't leave Vivian's.

"Hmm?" Vivian raised her brows and gestured to them to take a seat.

With a sigh, Sarah carefully sat down with her hands trembling. Zachery as well. Pleased, Vivian smiled as she nodded.

"Madam…" Sarah swallowed, her lips trembling. "What do you mean my daughter might be alive?"

She queried. She was certain her child was dead after years of investigating. The reason she hated Beth as she was the one who killed and kidnapped her child.

Meanwhile, Zachery had mixed emotions about it. He might be a scum, but he loved his children with Sarah. He loved and cherished Zion. However, because of what Beth did, he couldn't love Zoey as his own.

Heck. He didn't even know if Zoey was really his. He could've done a DNA test, but Zachery never did. Afraid that he couldn't hate Zoey and he wouldn't have anyone to blame for losing his daughter with Sarah. Or maybe, the opposite. Maybe, it'll only prove that Beth messed behind his back as well.

Petty excuse, indeed. But what could you expect from a scum and a coward?

"That woman… I mean, Beth, is it? Got pregnant before Madam Kwan." Vivian explained as she reached for a glass of wine.

Vivian was still skeptical whether she should tell them about this. However, her son had been affected by Zoey's disappearance. Also, Vivian was worried about Zoey's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, these two hypocrites weren't troubled. Vivian hated that Zoey had respected Sarah, but the latter only showed Zoey fake kindness. These two didn't deserve to sleep in peace at night.

"But, based on my investigation, the neighbors who lived near Beth knew that her child died young. If I remembered correctly, the neighbors said they recalled that Beth held a funeral for her deceased daughter. After that, they left the town and never came back." Vivian raised her brows as she placed down the glass of wine.

She studied their expressions. Sarah's expression grew paler while Zachery's jaw dropped, speechless as they listened to her.

"So, how could Beth, whose child died in her arms, still raised a daughter?"

"You don't mean…" Zachery trailed off as his mind placed the pieces together.

"I mean, after everything, I was wondering why this thought never came across you? If this happens to me, I'll get to the bottom of it. It might sound ridiculous, but I would take the slightest chance to know if the child is mine and not my enemy." Vivian shrugged, certain this kind of uncertainty wouldn't happen to her.

Even if she put herself in Sarah's shoes, Vivian would still consider Beth's daughter to be hers. Well, the situation was desperate and more than hate, Vivian was certain her will to find her daughter -- if she ever was in that situation -- would be far stronger than revenge.

"Madam, You're saying…" Sarah's heart sank as her entire body shuddered. "Zoey could be…?"

"Oddly enough, Zoey resembles Beth. However, don't you think Madam Kwan and Beth resemble each other a little as well?" Vivian hinted as Zachery's taste in women shared similar features.

Upon hearing Vivian's indirect hinting, Sarah and Zachery remained silent. Unlike Vivian who found an appetite seeing their reaction, the two had lost it.

In the middle of her meal, Vivian wiped the corner of her lips with a cloth.

"It's never my intention to meddle with your personal affairs. However, little Z has been missing and I'm worried that my son would lose his mind while you two sleep peacefully at night."

Slowly, Vivian assisted herself up, leaving her food half finished. When she cast her eyes to the two, it glinted with contempt.

"If something happens to her, I want you to regret treating her unfairly. Especially you, Mister Kwan. I wouldn't let you off easily after maltreating my daughter." Vivian warned before picking up her bag and left.

When Vivian was by the door, she halted and looked back. "That wonderful little girl doesn't deserve you two. It pains me that our children couldn't choose their parents. Remember, even if she forgives you, I won't, never."
