Wolf Girl

Chapter 13 - the girl reunites with the wolf~

Chapter 12

"Remember the demons we've encountered last time? Those weren't stray demons Claire, they had a leader, a leader I can't seem to guess who" Luke sighed closing his eyes in surrender

"But you said they were stray demons the moment you saw them" I replied getting confused as well

"That's because they were different than the civilized demons that we know of princess" Cross interjected

"How different?" I asked

"Stray demons, as you have seen are all red in color and all chaffed up with broken horns, it's a sign you see, those broken horns meant that they were casted out from the rest of the group, to put simply they were banished.

The nightwalkers are a different kind, they have human skin tone and horns that are smaller than the rest since their leader does not have one. Their eyes will seem normal too but they always have a tinge of red in them" Luke replied

"Oh and the other kind of demons are the morning dwellers who are paler than humans could possibly get, they almost seem like the dead since the paleness could almost be mistaken as white, and their eyes are the same as the stray demons, pitch black as if your soul could get s.u.c.k.e.d just by staring at their dark eyes" Cross added

"So what are they really? The ones we saw together last time?" I asked them both

"That we too, would like to know as well since they kept saying about a 'HE' it could only imply that they have a leader" Luke replied as serious looking as he always had been.

I glanced over the window in the left corner of my house and saw the leaves of the trees dancing along the wind and I felt weird, it was a normal event to see the leaves swinging because of the wind but somehow it felt really strange I couldn't grasp what or why.

Mesmerized, I started hearing the wind chimes and thought to myself 'where is that sound coming from?'

"Claire" a voice seemed to whisper in my ear again, a very familiar and soothing voice that I can't seem to guess who it belonged to. It's not Luke or Cross.

Then I turned back to the foxes and saw them quite alarmed. They were back to their real forms, ears and tails visibly alert and they went really still, even Cross who seem to always be playful turned serious.

"Claire, come closer to us" Luke whispered without looking at me

"What's wrong?" I asked beginning to get worried

"Someone's watching us, I can't pinpoint where he is" Luke replied

"I didn't even sense him at all brother" Cross sounded really tensed

"An enemy?" This time I too was whispering and slowly I started to walk to them when suddenly a huge explosion came and blew the window pane and shattered the glasses.

I fell on the floor and Luke and Cross didn't dare move, they were staring at where the glasses were shattered and at something that was outside

"Are you okay princess?" Cross asked me and I helped myself to stand

"Hurry Claire" Luke whispered and I realized I was two meters away from them and much closer to where something was standing by.

I couldn't take a step at what I was seeing. It was huge unlike any creature I've ever seen, Fur as white as snow, eyes as blue as the cerulean sea.

"Claire" it seemed to say while staring intently at me

It felt like I know this thing, whatever it is, looking at it whole I realized it was an enormous wolf.

A wolf?

"He won't harm me" I spoke out of the blue without realizing what I just said. What makes me so sure, I wonder about it myself.

The wolf didn't move a muscle when I relaxed mine. He kept looking at me disregarding my company. He didn't growl or spoke, he was waiting for something and I don't know why but I wanted to get closer to him, much much closer.

"Claire." Luke warned me when I unconsciously stepped towards it and the wolf grunted at Luke.

"You mean no harm don't you? " I asked

"What do you mean he means no harm Claire!? He just busted out your window for crying out loud!!" Luke exclaimed

I paid no heed to what Luke just said and instead I stepped closer to the wolf holding my hand up as if to reach it. I felt calm like this was safe, he was safe.

I heard Luke and Cross's heart beating faster than normal, I know they are in agony and terrified of what might happen to me. I smiled at the wolf and he seemed to smile back, but it may be my imagination, yet he bowed as if letting me to reach his face.

His fur was soft, softer than any feather pillows. I softly c.a.r.e.s.sed his fur and at this movement he suddenly gestured for me to climb on up.

"Really?" I smiled again and all of a sudden I felt excitement rushing out of my very bones and skin. Why was I feeling this way? Why aren't I terrified of this humungous creature?

"Claire don't" Luke spoke

"Princess" Cross whispered

"I'll be back I promise " I replied with a smile and I don't know why I was this happy at all, despite leaving my friends behind and coming along with a stranger. A stranger who doesn't feel like one.

I climbed up and held the wolf's fur to prevent myself from falling once the wolf moves again. "I'm ready" I tell the wolf and he howled and flew us up the skies.

Surprised to see that the wolf can fly, I glanced back to where Luke and Cross were standing and the look on their faces were enough to tell me how much they'd await my return. Shock doesn't seem to describe what they too were seeing. A flying gigantic wolf with no wings and a girl sitting on it.

I look towards the horizon and started feeling that everything was all going to be very interesting. I smiled at the thought and never looked back as we passed every house and every cloud and every tree.

••

"Was that a celestial wolf?" Cross whispered to Luke who seem to still be staring at the horizon where Claire was seen last.

"Yes..." Luke whispered back quite motionless, still couldn't believe that something like this could happen.

"What would this mean? This changes things doesn't it?" Cross replied looking at his brother

"Yes" was all Luke said as he realized for the first time in a very long time that a wolf celestial came down from the holy lands to help a princess of the scarlet fate to vanquish demons.

Over a millennia ago, before Claire was born he was told of stories about the Princesses with the fate to save mankind and animals alike, the first ever princess was born of a god and a human and she was a very powerful princess capable of taking on the two superior demons at once. She was accompanied by a wolf celestial who also could withstand and defeat thousands of demon armies all by himself. They were a powerful duo to be feared by demons and loved by the ones they protect and save. But after she passed away the wolf left and was never seen again, even when there came new princesses of the same scarlet fate, no wolf celestial ever came to help those princesses in their missions. Not even Princess Celty whose daughter he loved so much but died.

He thought that ever since then, the foxes who are closely related to the wolf celestials were to accompany the princesses and help them since no wolf would do the same again. Surprised at what had happened today changed everything in his vision.

One thing was sure, he thought. Claire was a real princess of the scarlet fate, she has something in her that hasn't been with the last princesses before her.

Second, Who will get to accompany Claire on her missions now that a wolf celestial has appeared? He feared the second thought.

Even when he hated it at first Claire was a princess and their duty was to protect and serve her in all her missions. He swore to do it all no matter what, along with Cross.

Luke had his reasons on denying Claire as a princess. A reason he still can't acknowledge himself to speak or get over with.

He liked to accompany Claire even when she was a stupid princess and a childish one at that. A feeling he kept denying himself to feel.

Will everything change now? He knew the answer very well.
