“Little baby.”

In the evening, inside the kitchen.

“Don’t stick to me. Let me finish cooking first. Sit outside and wait for me obediently.”

Yang Hongjin, who had been told countless times, was not as obedient as before. He still stubbornly pressed close, rubbing his nose against Cheng Yun’s ear, murmuring in a low voice, “Wife, wife, wife…”

Yang Hongjin’s deep and magnetic voice left Cheng Yun feeling numb all over, his ears turning red from the rubbing sensation, even though he tried to push Yang Hongjin away with his elbow, it didn’t seem like a refusal and felt intimate.

It had been four or five days since he used the Word Spirit, Cheng Yun couldn’t exactly pinpoint how Yang Hongjin had changed, but there seemed to be many differences from some small details.

The biggest change was that this guy was even more attached to him than before.

This kind of clinginess had existed before, but the current clinginess was making it hard for Cheng Yun to resist.

Just like now —

Yang Hongjin’s lips pressed against the back of Cheng Yun’s neck, the soft touch causing Cheng Yun to involuntarily shrink back. Cheng Yun was naturally ticklish, especially behind his ears, so he couldn’t muster any strength.

Just as Cheng Yun’s patience was reaching his limit, Yang Hongjin stuck out his tongue and licked, and Cheng Yun couldn’t take it anymore!

“You, get out of here!” Cheng Yun took a couple of deep breaths, trying to steady his breath.

However, Yang Hongjin continued the action, as if he hadn’t heard Cheng Yun’s words. He even pressed another kiss on the same spot, his tone unclear as he repeated, “Wife… will we have a little baby?”

Cheng Yun was taken aback by his words, and suddenly withdrew from the charm.

Now he finally understood why Yang Hongjin had been fixated on that spot behind his ear.

He had always thought of himself as an ordinary man, forgetting that in this era there was a person known as ‘Ge’er’, and he fell under that category.

He was a ‘Ge’er’ capable of giving birth, but because of his low fertility, he had married Yang Hongjin, a big idiot, and that pink mark behind his ear was precisely a sign of his ‘Ge’er’ identity.

So, had Yang Hongjin been touching that spot repeatedly these days because he wanted a child?

Cheng Yun had never considered this possibility, and until now, he didn’t think that as a grown man, he could still have children. However, he overlooked one thing —

In this era, carrying on the family line was of utmost importance. Yang Hongjin, as a man, would inevitably have such desires and needs.

Cheng Yun’s expression darkened suddenly. He fell into silence for a while. Yang Hongjin called him from behind, and suddenly, the term “wife” seemed to carry so much weight.

In a low voice, Cheng Yun said, “You go out first.”

“Wife?” Perhaps sensing that Cheng Yun’s mood wasn’t right, Yang Hongjin stopped clinging to him like before. His tone changed as he tried to turn around to see Cheng Yun’s face, but Cheng Yun easily avoided him.

Yang Hongjin panicked instantly, displaying his characteristic cluelessness. His tone carried a strange mixture of grievance and fear. “Wife?”

Cheng Yun kept his head down, not looking at him, and repeated, “You go out first.”

This time, Yang Hongjin didn’t dare to disobey his words. He reluctantly left, turning his head every three steps. Once he was gone, Cheng Yun felt like he had been released from a stranglehold, and he heaved a deep sigh of relief.

This was a problem he eventually had to face, but Cheng Yun didn’t expect the day to come so soon. He had thought they would discuss this matter slowly once Yang Hongjin had recovered and he was mentally prepared.

Cheng Yun’s mood became quite low, and during dinner, he avoided Yang Hongjin’s gaze. For once, they had a conflict, and it was a one-sided conflict initiated by Cheng Yun, leaving Yang Hongjin feeling at a loss.

After dinner, Cheng Yun silently tidied up. Yang Hongjin stood by his side, following him wherever he moved. Eventually, Cheng Yun couldn’t bear it and put down the cloth he was using to wipe the table. He handed Yang Hongjin a stack of dirty plates and told him to go outside and empty the leftovers.

Trying to ignore Yang Hongjin’s pitiful and upset look, Cheng Yun sat down and sighed.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to face this issue. But it had come unexpectedly, coupled with Yang Hongjin’s recent behavior of sticking to him, Cheng Yun found himself at a loss.

He slumped his shoulders, feeling exhausted, as he wiped the table. Suddenly, Yang Hongjin’s voice sounded from outside the door, carrying a different kind of excitement from before, repeatedly calling out, “Wife, wife, wife!”

Cheng Yun was so dumbfounded by his shouting that he barely had time to think about it. “What’s wrong?”

Walking to the door, his eyes widened.

Yang Hongjin was carrying someone in, a person who was thin and small, even smaller than Cheng Bao’er. The person had passed out, eyes tightly shut.

Yang Hongjin had the person in his arms at the doorway, unsure whether to come in or not. “Wife, he fainted at the door. I couldn’t wake him up, so I picked him up. Should I throw him out?”

Cheng Yun was amused by his description and felt a bit of relief from his earlier mood.

He let Yang Hongjin bring the person inside. They had a spare room, and Cheng Yun quickly tidied it up a bit, placing a couple of old blankets on the beds before laying the person down.

“Go heat some water, mix in some cold water so it’s not too hot.” Cheng Yun instructed Yang Hongjin to do this while he stayed in the room, intending to help the person change out of their wet clothes.

As his hand touched the person’s clothing, he suddenly remembered the recent reminder about his ‘Ge’er’ identity. With a pause, he turned his hand, gently moving the person’s head. Catching sight of the red mark behind their ear, Cheng Yun breathed a sigh of relief, then swiftly helped the person out of their wet clothes.

After several consecutive days of heavy rain, the weather cleared for only two days before it began to snow. As a result, the temperature in the past two days was even lower than before.

Cheng Yun didn’t know how long the person had been unconscious outside the door, but looking at his pale face, lips turning purple from cold, his whole body almost freezing, and even his breathing shallow and rapid, if t wasn’t for the person to still be frowning tightly and lookng restless even in his unconscious state, Cheng Yun feared that he might not make it.

Before Yang Hongjin returned, Cheng Yun removed all the dirty clothes from the person’s body and dressed him in a clean set of his own clothes. Just as he finished this, Yang Hongjin came in carrying a basin of hot water.

Cheng Yun wet a towel and gently wiped the person’s body, then covered him with a warm towel to transfer some warmth. When the towel cooled, he repeated the process until the person’s body gradually warmed up, and the hot water in the basin had completely cooled down.

The person was sleeping very restlessly. As Cheng Yun helped him wipe his body, he muttered and groaned with furrowed brows, but his words were vague and hard to understand.

Cheng Yun gently touched his forehead and was shocked by how hot it was!

He couldn’t afford to delay and quickly asked Yang Hongjin to fetch Doctor Liu.

Yang Hongjin probably sensed the urgency, put on a coat and hurriedly left.

Cheng Yun fetched another blanket and wrapped the young man tightly inside it. He then brought a fresh basin of well water, dampened a towel, and used it for physical cooling.

This Ge’er had an exceptionally delicate appearance, unlike any other Ge’er Cheng Yun had seen before.

Most of the Ge’ers in the village, like Cheng Bao’er, were a bit weaker than regular men and a bit tougher than women. Their appearance was somewhere in between, neither particularly handsome nor ugly.

Cheng Yun’s appearance was above average; he even felt that Cheng Bao’er looked better than him, with slightly more refined features. In the village, they could both be considered quite attractive.

But when compared to the young man on the bed, all the Ge’ers Cheng Yun had ever seen paled in comparison.

Smooth fair skin framed by a small cherry mouth, a well-defined nose, closed eyes with particularly long eyelashes – even in his uneasy sleep with furrowed brows, it was evident that he had an exceptionally rare beautiful face.

While changing his clothes earlier, Cheng Yun noticed that although the clothes he wore were dirty and chafed in places, they were made of good material.

So, how did someone so good-looking, potentially with a noble background, end up in this remote village, and in such a state?

Moreover, he was a young Ge’er, equivalent to a wealthy young lady who had fallen to the streets in this era. It was all quite baffling and got Cheng Yun to be fully alert to deal with it.

Doctor Liu arrived surprisingly quickly, taking less than half an incense stick’s worth of time. He was carried in by Yang Hongjin, his medical kit hanging around his neck. Due to their hasty journey, their hair was damp and disheveled from the wind. When Doctor Liu was put down, he pressed his chest and took a deep breath, saying, “Your, your husband, seems to be trying to kill me.”

Cheng Yun looked helpless, quickly brewed a pot of hot tea to calm Doctor Liu, and said apologetically, “It really happened suddenly. You’ve worked hard coming here so late.”

Doctor Liu waved his hand, not minding. After taking a sip of tea, he looked around and asked, “Where’s the person? Your husband’s explanation was vague. He said someone fainted and his wife sent him for me. What’s going on? Who fainted?”

Cheng Yun led Doctor Liu into the room, briefly explaining the situation.

Seeing that something was really wrong, Doctor Liu became serious. Cheng Yun and Yang Hongjin stood aside, not daring to disturb.

Yang Hongjin glanced at Cheng Yun sneakily. The person on the bed had nothing to do with him; his eyes were solely on his wife.

The tension from their disagreement during dinner had not fully dissolved, and a series of events happened afterwards, but Yang Hongjin hadn’t forgotten about it.

While Doctor Liu was examining the patient, Yang Hongjin quietly reached out and hooked Cheng Yun’s hand.

Cheng Yun gave him a look but didn’t reject his touch this time.

Yang Hongjin became immediately cheerful, his face lighting up as his eyes were full of his wife only. He leaned in and softly whispered in Cheng Yun’s ear, a hint of his past silliness in his tone, eagerly saying, “Wife, don’t be angry. Hongjin doesn’t know where he went wrong this time. Can you tell me?”

Cheng Yun’s heart softened upon hearing this.

This idiot was sincere; he wasn’t blindly apologizing like before without understanding what he did wrong. It’s just that, Yang Hongjin really hadn’t done anything wrong this time. After thinking for a moment, Cheng Yun turned and gave him a kiss, shaking his head, saying, “Hongjin, you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten angry.”

Doctor Liu, who had just finished taking the pulse, turned around to see them sharing an affectionate moment. He suddenly felt like a superflous person.

Doctor Liu sighed. It was about time his worthles son to settled down and start a family.
