Silent be all ye who come here,

In the face of hardship and fear.

In the face of darkness that is to come.

Arise in the silence and face my power in its total sum.

The villagers described at the flight of the wyverns, ironic since none of the wyverns were of the flying variety, but seeing as a stampede of the wyverns was less poetic, the bards in the town called it the flight of the wyverns. It did, however, have several effects on the people in town. The greatest change of which would be the better treatment of Man'gra by most civilians of the town. While there would still be those that believed in the old ways, the people had come to know of his sacrifice in protecting Captain Daggerfoot in her time of need, that he was still holed up in the local infirmary beside others who were being treated for the poisoning from the wyverns, their blood was being used to synthesis a cure, was another point to prove his valor. For those like Pyrrha and Alv, it was the beginning of their lives in town.

Alv had stayed up late the night of their combat, still slightly jumpy from his encounter with the wyverns, turning her inability to control the goings-on around him he began to focus on the things he could do to improve his repertoire. As he began to experiment he found that he had great difficulty with most magics, he could barely summon any real druidic magic. He probably lacked the training necessary to properly use its abilities, it was however obvious during his experiments that he had a rather high affinity for illusory magic. He had discovered it in a rather roundabout way. He had attempted to transform into an animal shape as he had mostly played as a druid during his DND games. When he looked at himself in the mirror he discovered a bear staring back at him, but as he moved forward to better inspect himself he walked out of the illusion, while the bear remained stationary. Realizing what had happened he rounded on the illusion as he inspected it. In the light of the midnight moon, he looked at the bear. It was a brown bear. Inspecting it he found it large and rather docile looking, he began to think 'maybe I can make it look more vicious' as he thought that the bear began snarling looking like it was making ready to attack. It raised it's paw up to strike but it's paw passed through him. Getting over the minor moment of panic he began to think about ways to work this into his strategies. Maybe he could work on replicating the "invoke duplicity" spell that was given to those who worked as clerics under gods of trickery. It was at heart an illusory ability, but with enough anchoring it to the plane that it could itself act as a secondary magical focus. With this in mind, he began practicing. It would be well into the night before he found any semblance of success. As the sun began to rise he dispelled his illusion, for now, it was stuck at a minute in duration, but maybe with enough practice, he could extend that time limit. His thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of movement in the room across his, peeking out the door he saw Pyrrha going out to practice her sword forms, a nostalgic look on her face as she set out. Alv realizing that he was so focused on not being a burden that he forgot the hardship his friend was going through decided that even with little sleep he would work on spending time and learning to defend himself with his friend.

"Pyrrha!" he called out as his libram hung at his side and his machete on his hip.

"You going out for practice?" he asked as he looked a little tired but seemed energetic enough.

"Yes, the lack of shield should not have troubled me as it did, did you wish to join me?" she asked with her head tilted to the side.

"Yeah, I was practicing something last night, and I don't know anything about using this machete do you mind if get some pointers?" he asked as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment, unintentionally looking like a rather clueless blond that Pyrrha had come to miss dearly.

"Sure J- I mean Alv," she smiled as tears threatened to fall. She quickly turned around to stop Alv from seeing it. Alv, however, was not as clueless as the blond she had come to love. Reminding himself that he would need to work on learning the sending spell. He had managed to muddle his way through so far using his knowledge of the magic system the world used but certain spells needed to be taught. He would find old man Jin when they had time to rest and learn the spell. He would make her smile. He steeled his determination as he followed Pyrrha to a small clearing not that far out of town.

Pyrrha unknowing of the thoughts of her friend began to run through the slashing sword forms she knew. She had seen him fight but it seemed that his budding abilities were not focused at all. She had seen him create a thorn whip, heal people, conjure little blueberries, and conjure fire. She had decided that the first spar would be a test of abilities, a method if you will, to see areas of improvement where she might help him. As they had reached the clearing she called for Alv's attention, the early morning rising slowly into the morning sky.

"Alright, let's try a quick sparring session to see what we have to work with" she smiled at him.

"Okay, rules of engagement?" he asked as he patted his libram while looking at her.

"Anything you can use, I want to see how you react in times of trouble and see how far you can go when pushed into combat," she said sternly but not without warmth.

"Alright, well we begin on your call," he said smiling as he pulled his machete from its sheath, and eyed the shield she had been given by the guards.

"Alright begin!" she called as she appeared, not sprinted, not dashed, appeared in front of him. Her speed so great he couldn't see her coming. Forcing himself to keep ahold of his weapon he rolled away. Using this opportunity he slammed his hands into the ground creating a small cloud of dust as he began his bastardized invoke duplicity spell. As the dust cloud began to clear she was faced with two Alvs. They rose as one, one casting the fire spell she had seen him use so often as the other ran towards her at a decent speed, it was by no means the fastest sprint, but it wasn't too slow. She was just used to faster. Still, she was forced to block with her newly gained shield as a machete slammed into her shield with a decent amount of strength. She quickly used the momentum of the attack to deflect it and role to the side as she avoided become burned by the second Alv's conjured fire.

"New spell?" she asked as she ran at the other Alv intent on shoulder checking him.

"Yeah, worked on it last night!" he replied as the Alv she was running at turned and jumped into the bushes lining the practice field, he hoped that the threat of another opponent hidden in the brush would force her to split her attention between him and the double. He wasn't so lucky, as she raised her shield throwing it captain America style at him as she moved to chase the double. He dodged with a yelp as Pyrrha used her magnetic abilities to control its trajectory turning the trees surrounding the clearing into a makeshift pinball arena forcing Alv to remain on the ground. As he moved to get up he was struck in the back, his concentration breaking, as the double faded and pain invaded his senses. His thoughts on the pain came to a grinding halt when his nose found Pyrrha's weapon at sword point.

"Yield?" she asked a little cheekily as he nodded. She helped him get up.

"So teach what's the verdict?" he asked smiling at her.

"Your magic is good. With it and your creativity, you seem to be able to offset your lack of any real combat experience, if only barely." she began in the same no-nonsense tone she had taken when she was training Jaune.

"Okay, so shitty sword form, but good on the creativity front?" he asked a little wryly.

"Yes, you can't swing your machete worth a damn, but considering you've never used one before that's acceptable. Now let's take a minute to breathe and we can begin teaching you how you should use a slashing weapon. " she said with kindness as he laughed, he focused on the same feeling he called upon when using fire but calming the raging inferno, instead, he was looking to conjure it's opposite. With a bit of concentration, water began to appear in his cupped palm. As he moved to drink it he realized it was an illusion, with a grunt of frustration he began to mutter. Pyrrha seeing this seemed to giggle before handing him her water skin. With a relived nod of thanks, he went back to trying to tap into his other elemental affinities. After another minute of failure, he stood up as Pyrrha called out to him.

It was time to begin their training anew.

Far away in the realm of the gods, two figures looked at one another.

"So that's father huh?" the cheeky, but mysterious voice hummed.
