Minor illusion

She wasn't sure what to think when he made his offer. for the last day and a half, she tried her best to come to terms with the state of things that she left them at. So she wasn't sure what to think when he made his offer. The chance to leave a message for her friends? The chance to see if they were okay? She have thought those options lost when she was brought here. So she chose to ask.

"What... Do you mean?" She spoke shakily as hope and anxiety warred within her.

"What I mean is, well there is a spell or two written into this world that does just that. The scrying spell would work so that you could see them but they would not be able to see you. Like a telescope depending on the connection between magic and the recipient you can view them and what they're doing. Conversely, there is a spell, called sending now I may not be able to do this right away, but the spell is capable of sending messages of exactly 25 words, it works even across different planes of existence." he sighed before continuing

"I bought this orb because I thought I could use it scry on my family but nothing is stopping me from doing the same for you and your friends and family. It's the least I can do to help give you peace." He spoke softly his explanation both enthusiastic and full of regret.

"It wasn't your fault that I died and that's just how it happened. You were the one who chose to give me another shot of life, you were the one who used your one wish to give me another chance. And now your offer brings me hope. Do not beat yourself up over the fact that I miss my home. Another chance at life is better than being dead." She spoke as she smiled sadly to him.

"All right, sorry, I just felt like I was at fault. Besides the spells are relatively easy to learn if they don't require more than a couple of months of study to get done. I guess I should brief you on what kind of magic exists here huh?" He started apologetically before speaking the end as if an afterthought.

"You did promise me an explanation" she smiles.

"That I did, now where would you want to start?"

"How about how this world came about?" She asked smiling at him as hope had begun to Kindle within her.

" The world we live in is one created by ideals and shaped by the whims and d.e.s.i.r.es of deities, some long past others here today." He started.

"The world began being shaped by the Creator god Unho, he was not the first god, but he was the best at making worlds. Some said it was his passion. He would go into the empty spaces in the cosmos in craft world after world with painstaking detail and love, from his creations each planet formed its own Pantheon the gods of which its people would worship later on. For you see, the planet unbeknownst to anyone has a form of intelligence. It's not something anyone who really knows as the planets rarely speak but the planets are the ones that form deities some exist across planets across planes like sun gods and death gods because those are constants, each planet experiences them so by the very nature of what occurs naturaly these gods are weaved into existence. That was in the beginning." He explains as he also transcribes this and the different spell ideas in his libram.

"What happened next? You mentioned a war between the deities?" she asked as she began to absorb the information.

"Yeah, so the war of the gods happened some two thousand years after the creation of the gods when two different worlds came into contact with one another in their orbit. Close enough that the gods could transport their people from one planet to another. The attacking God's where the heretical gods as the kingdoms now see them. Whereas the defending gods were known as the good gods, so to speak. The attacking gods came from a planet that was doomed by its orbit. Unho had inadvertently in his Rush to craft all he could, set that planet on a course for collision with another planet. A planet rich with life, so the gods of the attacking world seeing the innate disparity in the conditions they were forced to endure had decided why not take their own. And so the war of the gods began. Now the war was a complex thing to experience and like most if not all experiences there were moments where things could be put to rest." he stopped as he took a breath scribbling a quiet spell into the book as he willed his magic through the spell to form an illusion of what he was describing.

"There were many opportunities to find peace but there are beings from the in-between. From the place between places, from the infinite abyss, these beings were demons and devils. Devil's being a corruption of primordial chaos, Elementals brought low by great evil. Whereas demons where the fallen servants of the divine, those who were trapped in the space between spaces and subject to the malice and corruption of the warp. So lost in the throes of evil, they sought the corrupt all they could, including their brethren and the planets they once looked over." he sighed sadly as he once more changed the image to display the demons and devils he described. The devils both reminiscent of their DND counterparts.

"When the gods warred with one another they had inadvertently torn a tiny hole into the space between spaces, or as I call it the warp. And in their folly, they had released the first of the great evils Flor'na a creature born as one of the gods of a long-forgotten planet drawn into the evil of the warp corrupted beyond all notice or understanding. It became an evil that could not be matched. It rose from the in-between a writhing mass of tentacles and evil."

He made a conscious choice, not to conjure it's illusion as he remembered the rules he set for beings of the warp. The invocation of their images had sometimes allowed them to gain footholds in the realm. Merely saying their name brought notice but with the libram hiding his magic as he linked himself to Unho he decided to take the chance but knew to be warry from here on in.

"And the war of the gods had inadvertently set it upon this planet. It took the combined might of those gods from both sides of the war to banish the old god back to the warp, but their battle had consequences. Small holes into the warp had opened across space between these two worlds they had forced the attacking gods to move all of their followers for this planet after the warp has overrun their own. And so the war of the gods ended with both gods creating realms for themselves away, from the planet in fear that the warp would one-day return and Flor'na with it, but the hatred the war inspired and the presence of creatures from the in-between have spread the seeds of conflict ever since. Thus they can be no peace as long as demons and devils seek conflict. So long as mortals by their nature will fight to defend what they believe in there will always be conflict." He explained with a heavy heart. He had been inspired by Warhammer and Lovecraft when he crafted the outer worlds no it was beginning to regret it.

"I see, so all these conflicts can be traced back to the gods and the beings of the in-between?" Pyrrha asked as she watched the illusions begin to fade out of existence.

"Not necessarily. Mortals of any race will always come into conflict it's just by their nature that it occurs. Here there are just more catalysts." he sighed sadly.

"I see. Why then did you say this world was beautiful?" she asked as she had learned of the ugly truth of the events of this world's history.

"Because of hope that springs eternal." he smiled.

"There are people out there working to make the world better. To try and end conflicts. And through their work and the work of their followers they allow the world to be preserved both in its natural beauty and the hope that one-day peace can be had." he smiled.

"I see," she said as she looked to him.

"Thank you then, for both a new life and a chance to see that hope bloom" she smiled as their dinner had finally arrived.
