Chapter 13 Part 2: Pyo Hye-Won

“Jo Yeon-ho.”

Pyo Hye-Won gave him a warning.

His name was called out but the man did not back down. I can understand that Pyo Hye-Won would feel sympathy for me because I reminded her of her little brother, but Jo Yeon-Ho is right about this situation. I am currently an outsider and my actions were very suspicious.

“I told them I would leave.”

“You alone? Why? You know it’s much safer to stay there.”

“Because there was someone I had to find.”

The atmosphere became chilly.

Did you Jo Yeon-ho made a mistake?

He suddenly made puzzled expression. He probably thought that I was looking for my parents or siblings. Pyo Hye-won gave Jo Yeon-ho a smack on the head then let off an awkward laugh. The sound of the ‘smack‘ was pretty brutal.

“Ha-ha-ha-ha. He’s just talking nonsense! Miss Seo-Ha, eat well, and then sleep well today, okay? Let’s talk about the rest tomorrow!”

“It’s because of this ugly guy! Please understand him a little bit. He doesn’t mean any harm he was just…”

She started talking gibberish. She was trying to rectify the situation somehow. I gave her a smile and nodded my head. Pyo Hye-Won grabbed Jo Yeon-Hyo’s ears then pulled him back as he muttered,

“Ah! I’m dying! I’m dying!”

It was a friendly scene. I think I’ve seen the same kind of scenario when I was in this party before I returned.

“Seo-Ha. My name is Jung Sang-Jun. You can talk to me comfortably. Just call me if you need anything. There will be a night watch outside.”

A man introduced himself in a friendly manner inside the tent. I can’t really remember much about this person. However, I remember he was known as the Laughing Tank, or The Smiling Zombie? I think it was his nickname…

“Awww… I don’t know how hard this young lass must have suffered inside this gate…”

The woman next to me made a pitiful expression and started muttering.

Ugh… It seemed like they’ve misunderstood me. They probably thought that I’m one of those survivors who lost his family and survived roughly inside the gate.

I don’t know if it was because of my regression, but this time around I didn’t really suffer much…

I was about to correct their misconception, but I stopped. It would cause them to doubt me more, if I tell them that it wasn’t what they thought.

Anyways I already found my master and met her. Beelzebub’s attention was shifted to me instead as well. I would distract him so he doesn’t notice my master’s existence.

This time, surely… We will be able to escape together and survive right?

“Ah. Hello, this is Yeokcheon. This is Yeokcheon. We’re currently in the B-2 area of the gate. We checked the desert area and found a survivor. We got a prompt information. There was an indoor gym, which was being used as a shelter nearby. It was estimated that around 80 survivors are currently residing there.”

My morning started with the sound of reports from a walkie-talkie.

It was a special radio provided to every scouting unit. It’s probably the only thing that can connect to the outside world at the moment. It uses the magic stones harvested from dead monsters as its core power. Other than this, no other form of communication works. Once a gate opens in an area, every communication device apart from this, only transmits static noises.

“Let’s have a simple breakfast. Is it okay?”

My master seemed to be feeling sorry for me, so now she’s treating me like a child. It’s as if she doesn’t know that I’m already a full grown adult. I smiled after reminiscing for a bit then told her that I’m fine with it.

“Here have some Jerky.”

Jo Yeon-ho handed over my share. I wasn’t really used to this kind of dry food, however it has a long shelf life. I often chewed on it back when I was still in the gate. Every time I put it inside your mouth, and it starts becoming chewy, I can taste a bit of salt from it. So it’s probably one of the must-have ration item inside this gate.

“We’re thinking of going to that indoor gym, that you mentioned.”

She tagged along Pyo Hye-Won
while she was closely zooming in on the map app she had on her cell phone. Maps downloaded in advance can be taken out and used when needed, well until the phone battery ran out. Everytime the map was used, the battery was also consumed.

“The situation inside the Gym is quite stable. They don’t really need a hunter around to protect them. It would be better to go elsewhere.”

“What if a monster attacks it?”

“What are you going to do then? You were lucky enough to survive, so you think everyone else is as lucky as you?”

Jo Yeon-Ho intervened once again. He had a legitimate suspicion yesterday, but today his actions were just clearly picking for an argument. I could just laugh it off because master is in front of me, and I’m also a member of her team. However, staying quiet doesn’t really suit my temperament.

The Indoor gym is holding up pretty well. There will be no disaster as great as me returning to it. Also, Beelzebub is watching me.

“Scouting units are divided into six groups, right?”

“Huh? What do you mean…”

I quickly cut off Master’s words.

“The Indoor gym have its own system as well. Every group has a supervising leader, they had to go out every morning and afternoon to scout a designated area. They usually hunt Turtle bugs, and if there are dangerous monsters in the area, they would set up a subjugation party. Our supplies are often replenished with a lot of people inside doing their own part. Food distribution has its own system as well.”

I paused for a moment, then quickly came into my conclusion.

“I’m just saying. The Indoor Gym has its own rules, and a refined system. Hunter’s appearance would only disrupt it and cause confusion.”

“… But we can’t just listen to what you say. We can’t just pass it off, just because you told us they’re fine. We have to verify the facts and check whether what you told us were true. Whether there were still survivors or not.”

His tone was toned down a little bit. His argument was also quite valid.

“I apologize for talking recklessly. I’ve never seen the survivors come together like that and form their own small community… I didn’t expect it to be so organized.”

Well as far as I can remember, there was no better organized community than the one in the Indoor Gym.

After he apologized, Pyo Hye-won interrupted the conversation with a bright smile.

“Oh right! I forgot to ask Seo-Ha what she experienced ever since she got trapped inside this gate.”

TL NOTE:

I actually wished they just go back to the Indoor Gym together. So Seo-Ha can stay together with her Supermarket friends and also be with her master. Although I can understand her misgivings but, sigh can’t we just have the best of both worlds?
