Chapter 39 Part 2:The Hunter Institute

“What did I just hear?”

“A guild leader is coming to the training center this time.”

“So?”

It’s not every day that a guild leader of that magnitude comes to a training center. Is he coming because of Lee Eun-Woo?

“I’d like to show you a good performance. Would you like to join me for the group task? It won’t be a bad deal for you.”

He had a point, but I had no desire to stand out.

“Find someone else. I’m not interested.”

“Why? It’s hard to find someone better than me.”

Arrogant, but true.

“I don’t want to, anyway.”

“Really?”

And then he gives me the most pitiful look. Normally, I might have let it slide, but…

“That’s a terrible look.”

“Sorry.”

I must have been disgusted. Lee Eun-Woo laughed gently as usual. Mmm…. I didn’t have such a good memory of that face…

“Look who it is.”

A voice suddenly interrupted behind us. I turned my head and saw a familiar face. Kim Ju-il. The guy I took the qualification exams with.

“Aren’t you the ones who got carried on their way into passing?”

But the words were quite malicious.

“What do you mean?”

“What are you talking about….”

“Why? Am I wrong? The scroll was found by me and Da-Lae, but you got separated in the middle and didn’t know where you went, and barely contributed to it.”

I stiffened. I mean, I’m sure they had a hard time finding the scroll, but we weren’t playing around obviously, and we even risked our lives to deal with that queen ant, lol. The students around me started to chatter.

“But both of you even got First Place and Second Place Admissions… You must have a lot of strength. I’m afraid I’ll look bad if I mess with you, so just ignore the fact that you guys literally got carried into passing the exam. Right?”

“Mr. Kim. We were able to Kill the boss monster and got the points we deserved.”

“No one knows if you caught that boss monster or not. Do you have any proof?”

It was a childish discourse. How could they prove something that happened in a dungeon, which wasn’t even an official testing ground.

‘I can’t reveal anything about Choi Seok-chul.’

I was frustrated that I couldn’t just pull out my memories and show them to him.

“I’m going to formally protest this matter to the association….!”

“Okay, new Hunters, please be quiet.”

At that moment, a figure that looked like an instructor entered the podium. It was exquisite timing. Kim Ju-il couldn’t help but swallow his words and take a seat.

“First of all, we know that you’re all excited about passing the qualifying exam. But passing the exam isn’t the end of the story, right? You all know that eventually joining a guild is a better direction, right?”

His words cleared the air a bit. No one would argue that a guild’s assistance was essential for a new Hunter to progress quickly.

“You can learn the basics at the academy on your own, but don’t forget that your class behavior rating will be included in your overall performance〜. Now, since it’s the first day, I would really like to give you a quick orientation, but I’m afraid we have to finish the course in the time allotted by the country, so I’ll start the class immediately.”

He was pretty nonchalant about it. The new Hunters also looked a little unhappy, but none of them spoke up because of the classroom behavior rating.

“So, is the one who received the First Place Admission in this class?”

I had an ominous feeling.

“Hunter Han Seo-Ha, where is she?”

“I’m here.”

I raised my hand, and all eyes were on me at once. Curiosity, jealousy, and suspicion shone in their eyes.

“Wow, I heard the First Place and Second Place admissions this time around were especially impressive, so I’m looking forward to this training!”

The gazes became even more intense as he added a useless comment. It was a contradiction to what Kim Ju-il had said earlier.

“It just so happens that the one who received the Second Place Admission is also sitting next to you too! Hunter Lee Eun-Woo, did you two always know each other?”

“No, we didn’t. We were in the same group during the practical exam, so that’s when we first met.”

Lee Eun-Woo’s gaze flicked over to him.

“Really? Ah, Alright then let’s get the small talk out of the way now.” Everyone in the class then smiled and nodded.

‘Huh?’

It was a rocky start. It’s better to just ignore these kinds of suspicions, but the lines of criticism were persistent and quite annoying. On the other hand, Lee Eun-woo, who was sitting next to me, acted as if the stares were a common occurrence.

After the common class, it was finally time for the job-specific classes. I chose the ranged damage dealer class, and Eun-Woo was also one of the few mages, so we were split up. Once we got to our assigned classroom, I finally felt a bit strange. It’s been a while since I was a student after all. I felt like a high school or college student again, although I never went to college.

Not surprisingly, the class was held on an outdoor field. It was a place where crystals were placed around the perimeter to absorb damage. However, at first glance, there were also people who didn’t seem to be students of the One-Hit class.

‘That person… seems to have high strength, stamina, and defense.’

“Uh!”

The voice seemed to recognize me. I turned around and saw a familiar face.

“Seo-ha!”

Light brown hair, short with soft curls. I’d always seen it tousled, but now it was naturally curly. It was a cheerful voice, full of kindness. Her name was Song Da-jung.

“Long time no see!”

And this Voice… Was from a man with short cropped hair and unusually innocent eyes. Kim Tae-byung, the man I always thought was too glazed to be a tanker, was also there.

(T/N: Bro! My Impression of Kim Ju-il just literally hit rock bottom. He and Min Da-Lae were practically useless noobs the entire exam! Why the hell is he acting like some piece of guacamole! Also, Yey Gym Group!)
