Chapter 41 Part 1: Catching up

It’s already in the past so we can talk about it casually. But I’m not sure if Kim Tae-byung knows that. He hesitates for a moment, then smiles slightly.

“The two of us, the twins, and Seol Min-Joon have turned into Hunter Aspirants, and Lee Chan-Song seems to be carrying on his family business. Actually, I can’t keep in touch with Chan-Song anymore.”

“Go Hae-Yoon-Ssi said she was going to keep her original job. She said she was an accountant!”

“Mr. Choi Woo-Doo also wants to work for the Hunter Management Bureau, and he’s recently started studying again.”

Everyone seemed to be finding their own way, and now that I think about it, Da-jung was more of a blacksmith than a tanker. Of course, blacksmithing also requires strength and stamina, so it’s not in a completely different direction… I hadn’t been able to give her any advice before because I was inside the gate, but now that we’ve met, I thought it would be nice to give her more proper directions.

“Oh. Did you hear about Mr. Kwon Sung-Min?”

“Huh? No, haven’t you heard from him ever since the gym?”

“I heard about it recently. Mr. Park Su-il told me that he is preparing to enter the political arena.”

I thought he was more of an administrative type, but his qualities as a hunter weren’t bad. Besides, he’d shown himself to be pretty good at leadership and strategy. He might not have been the type to lead in a war, but I thought he’d be valuable as a strategist. It would be a shame to lose him.

“Not exactly. He was a bit… distant from us in the first place.”

“That’s true, isn’t it…? He would only talk to Teacher Woo-Doo often.”

“Still, he wasn’t a bad person, so I hope it works out.”

“Right, right.”

They made small talks, which didn’t hurt his reputation.

‘It’s a bit awkward to meet him at the end, but he seems to be doing well.’

He’s not someone I’m very involved with, but I’ve struggled with him for over a month, so I hope he’s doing well too. I’m sure he’ll be fine wherever he goes.

“Why don’t we ask them to meet us after the training is over, I’m sure everyone will want to see her.”

“That’s right! The twins have been looking for you, too! They even asked their guild…”

“Guild?”

The twins had already joined a guild? They said they were going to be hunters, but they were still young and capable, so I thought they would have gotten into the National Academy. The country must have made them an offer as well, but they left that elite course and went to a private academy to become Hunters already.

“They passed the Hunter test a month ahead of us. It’s not like they didn’t go to an academy, but they passed the Hunter Test immediately.”

“What guild did they join in?”

“Well, I’m sure it’s called…”

Kim Tae-byung was about to open his mouth, but a voice interrupted him.

“Seo-ha.”

I turned my head at the sound, and as always, his shiny hair was the first thing to catch my eye, it was a color that gave the illusion of glowing under fluorescent lights.

“Lee Eun-Woo.”

“Who are these people?”

He smiled and sat down next to me. Kim Tae-byung, who was now in front of Lee Eun-Woo, started hiccupping.

Hiccup, hiccup. The sound echoed in the silence.

“It’s nice to meet you. Seo-Ha and I were in the same group for the Hunter Exam. Please call me Lee Eun-Woo.”

“Aaaaah, of course!”

Da-jung acted like a mom who saw her child’s new friend for the first time in her life. It was an overly welcoming tone.

“I’m Song Da-jung, this is Kim Tae-byung, and we met Seo-ha at the Yeonhwado gate together, so we owe her a favor.”

“I’ve heard Mr. Lee’s name a lot.”

If Kim Tae-byung knows him, then there’s no one in this institute who doesn’t know who Lee Eun-Woo is.

“Do you mind if I eat with you?”

“No of course, please come!”

“I never said yes…”

“Eat up!”

I was tackled in the middle, and I was chewed badly. Well, well… I’m a little uneasy about Lee Eun-Woo smiling at me, but it’s okay to eat together, right?

“If it was the Yeonhwado Gate, then you must have had a lot of trouble.”

“I don’t have a lot of good memories.”

“But thanks to the help of others, we were relatively safe.”

These are all innocent victims whose lives were turned upside down when the gate suddenly opened. It’s a good thing they didn’t dwell on it.

“So, do you two have a guild in mind?”

Lee Eun-Woo brought up an innocuous topic. It’s probably the only thing that’s on everyone’s minds in this training center, since so many people come here for the purpose of guilds. The two of them looked at each other for a moment before answering coolly.

“Actually, we don’t know much about guilds.”

“We’ve been to a lot of guild presentations so we’re still trying to decide.”

That’s a good attitude. You don’t always have to go to a big guild, and if you can find a small guild with a solid supportive group of people, it might be better than going to a big guild and just being a shield. Of course, the problem is that finding a guild with such characteristics is very rare, even among small and medium sized guilds, so they’ll probably be in the middle of the pack. In terms of Backwater, it would probably belong to a Mid-sized guild category. They may not have that many members, but they all have solid skills.

“Seo-Ha?”

“Eh?”

“Do you have a guild in mind?”

Look at this? Lee Eun-Woo didn’t seem all that interested in their answers at all, like he was just being polite and asking them because he wanted to ask someone else. But I can tell by the subtle nuances. The previous question was just a prelude to asking me.

‘Does he want to recruit me?’

I don’t think I’m the kind of person who would fit in at the Blue Serpent, even though the conditions to join doesn’t say “You must know how to laugh and make spiteful remarks, but the front and back will be different!” Still, doesn’t a group of people tend to have certain tendencies? I’d probably fit in more at the Red Flames, than the Blue Serpents.

“I’m not going to join Blue Serpents.”

“Why?”

He made a face of sincere incomprehension. Of course he doesn’t know, he’s a blue serpent freak after all, and a blue serpent person by nature.

“It’s not for me.”

“Come on, why don’t you go to a briefing session with me…”

“I’m not going.”

I cut him off firmly, and he raised one eyebrow. Even with that expression, my mind was firm.
