Chapter 44 Part 2: Jeon Seo-Ho

“As you may have heard from Eun-Woo, we place a high value on Hunter Han Seo-ha. I’m sure I can treat you better than Red Flames.”

“If you suddenly say this in someone else’s waiting room..”

“Hunter Kim Ki-Taek.”

Jeon Seo-ho said coldly.

“Unless the Guild Leader of Red Flames comes, I don’t think you can give more generous terms than that.”

“Ms. Han Seo-ha was just talking to us. We’re still working out the terms, and it’s not fair of you to do this.”

Kim Ki-taek was not to be outdone. It seems both the Blue Serpent and Red Flames had no intention of backing down either.

“Hunter Han Seo-ha wants to go to Red Flames?”

“That’s…”

“Then why don’t you stop being a d–ck and back off, you’re holding her up here, that’s why I came myself, I’m a person with very precious time.”

He smiled and said something like that. I was wondering where Eun-Woo got his personality from. It seems that he’s seen and learned it from him. I glanced over at Eun-Woo and he locked eyes with me and smiled. I wonder if it’s just my imagination.

“Hunter Han Seo-ha. What terms do you want? I’m sure I can meet most of them.”

I felt troubled suddenly.

‘Is it okay to join another guild at this rate?’

Surely, it would be better to have the guild guarantee me a number of welfare benefits. Maybe I could exclude some of the chores I do for the guild, since they can fulfill most of the conditions I want. In many ways, it was easier to be part of a group than an individual. I’d already gotten a taste of the power of the Blue Serpent in the past, after going up against Lee Eun-Woo, so it was all the more appealing.

“Noona~ Why don’t you join the same guild as us〜.”

“Huh?”

The twins next to me, were also being affectionate.

The twins were on the left and right while Jeon Seo-ho was in front. Behind the couch was Lee Eun-Woo. It seems like I’m completely surrounded.

“….I want to have freedom of personal behavior.”

“We respect the autonomy of each guild member.”

“I don’t want to participate in mandatory missions. I’m just saying.”

At my mention of mandatory missions, Jeon Seo-Ho immediately fell silent. His smile remained, but that made the silence all the more creepy.

“Why, it’s not a bad deal for the Hunters themselves, and you’re not doing it for the benefit of the Guild, are you?”

“The ‘Freedom’ I’m talking about… I want to go to dungeons no one else wants to go to, by myself, and focus on my own personal business for months and years.”

“You’re being too greedy.”

Maybe. I know it’s too much to ask, which is why I don’t want to go to Red Flames or Blue Serpent.

“Look at this… If it were anyone else, I’d laugh at you for not knowing the subject matter, but I’m a hunter, so I can’t.”

This was a bit unexpected. I don’t know what it is about me that makes him think so highly of me. I know that the current me is still not on par with the current hunters, and I know I’m going to get better, and I know how I need to get better. It won’t take me long to get back to my old pace.

It must be different for them, who don’t know about my top-tier Hunter past, they were strangers to me after all. So it would be quite difficult to believe in me.

“You look surprised.”

“Yes. A little. You just saw me for the first time today, and you think so highly of me.”

“I told you, my eyes are quite accurate.”

I stared at him, but those snake-like eyes never revealed themselves. I don’t think he said that lightly..

“I’m afraid, Ms. Han Seo-ha’s terms are not acceptable.”

“I think so.”

“I don’t think any other guild would be able to meet those conditions.”

“I know that.”

At my words, Jeon Seo-ho stroked his chin as if intrigued.

“Are you thinking of working as a private hunter?”

“Maybe.”

“I wouldn’t recommend it, but… you might. Private hunters are usually a thorny path. They’re not accepted by any guild, so they wander alone, because that’s the usual perception. Except for the occasional person who has a problem with their original guild, and voluntarily leaves their guild to work as a mercenary, the only ones who are really good are the ones who are not.”

“But you don’t seem to be willing to compromise.”

“Yes.”

With those words, Jeon Seo-ho stood up from his seat. On the left and right, the twins whined, “Why aren’t you coming with us?” but I couldn’t help it. I have things to do.

“Guild Leader.”

“Forget it, Eun-Woo, don’t you realize this is pointless?”

Jeon Seo-Ho said as Eun-Woo grabbed hiim who was about to turn around, but Jeon Seo-Ho was also adamant. This is indeed the Guild Leader of the Blue Serpent. It was as if he was convinced that I would not be swayed no matter what. And he was right.

“I look forward to seeing you on the last day.”

Jeon Seo-ho left the ceremonial words and headed out the door. Eun-Woo looked back at me a few times before following him out. The twins gave me their phone numbers offhandedly, then scurried away. After the storm of people swept past, only the three of us remained inside the Red Flames waiting room.

Kim Ki-taek took an awkward sip of his cold coffee. Next to him, Jeon Chung-woon also sat, his face still stiff.

“As you’ve heard. I have no intentions of joining a guild who doesn’t meet my conditions. I’m not going to join no matter what conditions Red Flames and Blue Serpent offer.”

“I see. Yes, I heard. The Guild Leader of the Blue Serpent came and personally offered you a blank check, and I saw him get kicked in front of me, so I don’t have anything to offer you.”

His tone was bitter. I had no reason to attend the briefing anymore, as my goal was to meet with Jeon Seo-ho. I left Kim Ki-taek and Jeon Chung-woon behind and walked out of the waiting room. The tournament was about to begin. I was a bit excited. I wondered how I’d deal with Kim Ju-il so that they could spread the rumors and stop pestering me?
