Chapter 62 Part 1:  Hunter Disappearances

The smell of flowers is refreshing.

I didn’t know much about flowers, so I went to a flower shop and asked them to make it roughly, just so I could bring a bunch of them for a visit.

“I’m here to see Mr. Lee Eun-Woo.”

“What’s your name?”

“I’m Han Seo-ha.”

When I gave my name at the hospital desk, a person finally got up and showed me around.

Lee Eun-Woo was currently staying inside a VIP private room, so he’s not allowed to receive a lot of visitors.

A visitor must be on the list in order to visit him, and luckily, I was one of them.

I carried the bouquet of flowers in a fruit basket, I figured that it could be a nice gift.

“You can come in.”

The person opened the door to his room for me, but he never went in himself.

This is a hospital mostly frequented by high-ranking people.

So I guess they have their own protocols.

I bowed down and stepped inside.

“You’re here?”

Lee Eun-Woo greeted me, dressed in a patient’s hospital clothes.

His arm was bandaged up to his shoulder.

“How are you feeling?”

“Same as before. I’m still recovering, so I’m not rehabilitating much properly.”

I frowned slightly and looked down at his arm.

It was a major operation that lasted for dozens of hours.

Even with modern medicine, it was not easy to recover, but… From the rumors I heard, Jeon Seo-ho had procured a large amount of holy water, even kneeling down to Yun Kang-Baek just to acquire them.

There was a gloomy atmosphere, and I figured I should find a way to clear the air.

Lee Eun-Woo’s silver hair then trickled down his face.

“I’m sorry to have gotten you involved into this… Mess, but I don’t know what to say.”

It was my bullet that penetrated his shoulder, and it was my enemy, not his, that broke his wrist.

“That’s enough, it wasn’t your fault, You’re the one who saved me after all.”

I’ve said it dozens of times, but It still get stuck on my throat.

Lee Eun-Woo suffered because of a guy who has some business with me.

I didn’t think I could help it if he resented me.

But fortunately or not, He didn’t seem to hold a grudge against me at all.

“Simple magic is still possible, even in this state.”

He waved his hand lightly, and it crackled with static electricity.

“On the contrary… I can see it clearly now because I’m doing it with one hand.”

“You can see what?”

“I mean…”

He thought about it for a moment, then shook his head.

“A person who isn’t a mage wouldn’t understand.”

In that case, I had nothing to say.

I’m not exactly sure I know what it’s like to procure a ‘Simple Magic’ as mages call it.

But it’s fine.

They’ll probably never know what it felt like when I start my spatial interference either.

“Also the Guildmaster would like to see you.”

“Him? Me?”

“Well, first of all, you’re a victim, too. The Blue Serpent requested for your assistance, but failed to protect you.”

‘Aha.’

From a guild perspective, the blue serpent had nothing to say.

They took me to the Undead Gate to carry holy water, claiming to be conducting an ‘Experiment’, but I cleared it instead.

“Besides,” He continued, “Due to internal guild matters… Things was in a bad way.”

He sounded pretty awkward when he said that.

Was it because I saw the ugly side of their Guild?

A few memories flashed through my mind immediately.

Jung Jin-Moon, who didn’t come to look for us like he promised, Park Hyun-Jong, who caused the incident inside the gate to happen, and the rest of the people who turned a blind eye to it all….

‘Why can’t Lee Eun-Woo just leave the Blue Serpent?’

There will be a line of guilds and places who would want to take in a genius magician like him even if they pay hundreds of millions of won.

‘Why does he care about the Blue Serpent so much that he would even put its reputation before the injustice he’d suffered?’

‘Before the regression, he also cared about the blue serpents, but… Back then, they were following him wholeheartedly.’

Now, they’re ostracizing him because he’s working for the guild leader, Jeon Seo-ho.

“Mr. Jung Jin-moon didn’t give up on us, he didn’t run away.”

“Then?”

“There was an infighting.”

‘Infighting?’

‘Inside the gate?’

I can roughly expect that, but..

I can’t help but be a little surprised.

It sounded like someone disobeyed Jung Jin-moon, who was giving the orders, and the group split in half, and that kind of thing inside the gate can easily lead to the annihilation of an entire team.

“A few people who were against me, including Mr. Park Hyun-Jong, split from the group in the middle…”

“And?”

“They disappeared.”

“What?”

‘Disappeared?’

Again, Hunters disappeared inside the gate.

My head went cold, like I’d been doused in cold water.

Something probably happened.

“He was tracking them, and claimed that they stole a bunch of holy water. He couldn’t make it to the Raid without them, but the trail got cut off in the middle. They tried to search the whole area, but the gate was cleared first.”

I didn’t need to hear the rest of the story.

The story of Park’s group stealing the holy water could have been made up at will.

It could have been the truth or an excuse, so I didn’t attach much significance to it.

However, the latter story was something I need to pay attention to.

‘They lost contact with them on the way, and they just disappeared… They still haven’t found any traces of them.’

I had an ominous premonition.

“It’s still a secret to the outside world, and since you’re kind of involved, I thought you should know.”

“The… People who disappeared, after the gate was cleared, are they still unaccounted for?”

“I think so. There were no words from their families. They didn’t go to the bank and take money, and they didn’t sell items to make cash. We presumed that they were dead, but there are a lot of things… That didn’t add up.”

Lee Eun-Woo inwardly doubted Jung Jin-Moon.

“Maybe they’re just pretending that they didn’t kill him.”

No matter what happens inside the gate, if they already formed an agreement amongst themselves beforehand, there’s no way for outsiders to know whether what they’re saying is the truth.

After all, everything is always handled based on the last witnesses.

“That doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that Jung Jin-Moon would do.”

At least based on my observation of him.
