Chapter 76 Part 1:  Pillar

Bang!

The sound of the door opened violently, but I didn’t care.

I had just walked into the Blue Serpent’s headquarters.

The desk clerk was in the middle of asking me what I was here for, but I interrupted him, and blurted out,

“Is the Guild Leader Jeon Seo-ho upstairs?”

“What? I can’t tell you about the guild leader’s schedule…”

“I see. He must be upstairs.”

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had to explain.

“Wait, if you enter without permission, it will be considered an attack on the Blue Serpent Guild and you will be legally punished for trespassing..!”

“You can file a complaint later, just file one for Han Seo-Ha of The Netherworld.”

The staff paused at my words.

He doesn’t recognize my face, but he knows my name.

“You can’t go any further.”

Instead of an employee, a group of what appeared to be guards stood in my way.

“I’d like to see Guild Leader Jeon Seo-ho. If you could at least tell him I’m here, I’ll wait patiently.”

“I’m sorry, but it’s not in our power to contact the guild leader directly.”

“Then I will go myself.”

After seeing the determined expression on my face, they could sense that there is no room for negotiation.

One of the guards urgently called out for me to wait a moment.

“Just give me a minute, It’s just… We don’t really have any authority to grant you access, let me speak to our captain instead.”

I would have waited just as long.

So I nodded, and the guard promptly pulled out his cell phone and dialed somewhere.

“Yes, sir. There’s a hunter named Han Seo-Ha from the Netherworld Guild who was requesting to see the Guild Leader. Yes she was requesting to have a word. Yes…. We can’t stop her… Yes, sir. Yes. Yes, sir.”

The call ended quickly.

A stern-looking security guard then told me.

“They’ll get back to you in a moment. However, the guild leader had cancelled all his existing schedules and entered an emergency meeting, so it may take a little time… “

Ring, Ring.

“One moment… Yes sir. Yes?”

The guard’s eyes flashed with panic as he alternately looked at his cell phone and me, then stuttered in a small voice.

“I…. Yes. The Guild leader had asked you to please come in. They told me to send… You up to the top floor, right away.”

“Go to the top floor of this elevator, right?”

“Yes? Ah, yes.”

“Thank you. Have a good day.”

I stepped into the elevator that descended into the lobby just in time.

‘I came here randomly, but…. I didn’t think Jeon Seo-ho would actually let me in.’

If he refused to see me, I was planning to ignore these people and break in even if I had to beat them up.

Ding.

I finally reached the top floor.

The elevator doors opened and I saw a room surrounded on all sides by clear glass walls.

‘It’s just perfect for a break-in.’

It’s probably a reception hall, but that was my first thought.

I finally saw a man standing against the colorful backdrop.

It was Jeon Seo-ho.

The guild leader of Blue Serpents.

“Hunter Han Seo-ha. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you, but I don’t have a lot of time to waste at the moment.”

His eyes curved gently in response, but there was an undeniable sense of urgency in them.

There were several figures seated with their backs to me, I don’t know if he’s really in the middle of an emergency meeting.

Rather than them complaining about the interrupted meeting, they seemed to have seen the light of hope.

‘It seems that Jeon Seo-Ho is not in a very good mood.’

It’s the worst conditions for negotiations, but it doesn’t matter.

Since we were running out of time, I needed to get straight to the point.

“Put me on the secondary Clearing Unit.”

“Hunter HaSeo-ha… What did you say?”

“Didn’t you want to save Lee Eun-Woo?”

After hearing my words, Jeon Seo-ho stiffened for a moment.

It must be this man’s only weakness, since I heard he raised him almost like a son.

“I can save him. You’ll have a hard time finding a better Hunter than me.”

“You’re so confident, for a rookie who’s only been in the field for almost a year.”

“I’m the most sought after rookie in the field right now. I’m better than most established hunters.”

I couldn’t lose a word.

I looked at Jeon Seo-ho with determined eyes, and saw him wipe the smile off his face and turned serious.

“That’s why you can’t do it.”

“What?”

“Hunter Han Seo-ha. What generation of Hunter are you?”

“I’m the third generation.”

“There are currently three rookies representing the third generation of Hunters so far. Jeon Cheong-Woon of the Red Flames, Lee Eun-Woo of the Blue Serpents, and…”

He pointed at me.

“Han Seo-Ha of the Netherworld.”

“Are you saying that I shouldn’t… Because we need someone to become the pillar of the third generation?”

“Of course. With the new rookies coming up after this, it’s not really a third generation, it’s more like… 3.5 or even a 4. How long do you think it will be before they replace the generation we have now and run the major guilds properly?”

He was being realistic.

If we, the people representing the third generation, all died out of that gate, there would be no one to replace the current 2.5 generation.

‘It will take too long to raise a fourth generation, and the gap between generations will lead to… Gate damage.’

I shut my mouth at the undeniable reality.

Jeon Seo-ho was right, if I were to die in there, the aftermath would be too great.

“Well. There are many other factors to consider, such as the fact that the Netherworld Guild is currently unable to provide adequate support, you also have personal feelings mixed in, making it difficult for you to make rational judgments, and…”

I’m constantly being bombarded by facts that I felt assaulted.

It’s actually painful.

“Would I still have the decency to look at Pyo Hye-Won if I shoved you in there.”

Why is he talking about Hyewon-Unnie now?

“Did you give up on Lee Eun-Woo..?”

“Of course not. We’re currently working on our own plan. As you can see, we’re in the middle of an emergency meeting.”

I could see the faces of the people in the emergency meeting behind him turn pale.

“Anyways, I think that’s a good enough explanation for you Hunter Han Seo-Ha.”

“…Yes, I’m sorry for bothering you.”

“I’m only allowing you to do this because we’re already acquainted, and because I consider you a valuable talent.”

He was an arrogant man to the end.

Jeon Seo-Ho, whose eyes were so dark that I couldn’t see his pupils, gave a proper and soft smile.

He must be black inside.

“Then listen carefully—”

“B—Breaking news!”

Just then, one of the people in the back jumped to his feet and shouted.

“The gate! The gate!”

‘The Gate what?’

Tension suddenly hung in the air.
