Chapter 77 Part 1: Summit

After the Clearing Unit, including Lee Eun-Woo, returned back alive, the news of their return, and success inside the gate, became a subject of everyone’s conversation.

The fact that the Hunters who were thought to be dead were not rescued, but came out of the gate on their own, was very dramatic.

Interest in Lee Eun-Woo and Jeon Cheong-Woon, who were at the center of the Clearing Unit, immediately rises.

“…Unnie. Get some sleep, I’ll do it.”

“No, it’s okay, you must be tired too, get inside and rest.”

Hye-won replied while boiling the porridge.

Unfortunately, the heat outside didn’t reach this far, and Pyo Yeon-Won still tossed and turned at night after being plagued by nightmares, and Hye-won worried about him while she dozed off in front of his door.

“You haven’t slept much, I’ll take care of it, get some more sleep.”

“Ugh… Thank you, Seoha-ya. Then I’ll have to leave you to it for a while…”

Hye-Won finally decided to leave the task of boiling the porridge to me.

It seems that she was unable to resist her drowsiness.

I know Hunters can pull an all-nighter for days on end, but it’s been two months now.

It was time for her to take a break.

However, just as Pyo Hye-won was drifting off to sleep, her phone suddenly rang.

It wasn’t from her regular cell phone, but through her office phone that she only uses when she’s out to work for the Guild.

Well obviously she won’t be able to ignore a call from that phone.

“Hello?”

She answered the phone in a deep, pensive voice.

However, after listening to the caller, her half-closed eyes fluttered wide in an instant.

“Uh, yeah. What? Ah… Was that today, uh, right now?”

She jerked her upper body forward where she was lying from.

I don’t know what it is, but I feel like she probably had to go somewhere right away.

However…

‘She must be quite anxious about Yeon-won.’

Pyo Yeon-won had been showing various symptoms of anxiety ever since he was brought out of the gate, and I’m afraid of leaving him alone at the moment.

“Um… Do I really have to go?”

Hye-won asked as well as if she had been thinking about the same thing too.

“I know. I understand… Yeah It won’t take forever…”

She had a bitter tone.

I immediately knew who was on the other end of the line.

The only person I’ve ever heard Unnie1Unnie = Older Sister talk this much with was Jo Yeon-Ho.

“Still, he’s getting better, so we’ll just have to wait until he’s stable.”

Unnie was too worried about Yeon-Won.

I know she cares about him a lot, but this time she was being too overprotective.

‘Considering that most ordinary people who have experienced violence at the Gate suffer from PTSD for the rest of their lives, it’s not surprising that… He would react that way.’

Whether they were beaten to death inside the gate, like Pyo Yeon-won, or witnessed the deaths of several people due to in-fighting, like the An twins before their regression… It’s all the same.

There are several psychotherapy services provided by the state for those who have been through this, but…

‘Getting back to normal was not always easy.’

“Yeah, I know, I know, I can.’t just dump everything to you guys..”

Hye-won let out a deep sigh.

Her breath was filled with determination.

“Okay. Prepare a car and meet me in front of my house. I’ll get ready and leave right away.”

“What’s wrong?”

“The government said they’ll be holding a guild summit… I’ve been so busy lately, I forgot it was today. They’re limiting admission to only the leaders of the major guilds and their two entourages, but I’ll have to go to find out what exactly they called us for.”

There was no time to waste, then..

The other guilds would be in a hurry to get going.

“I’ll take care of him, then. You should go.”

“… No. You should come with us.”

“Me?”

“The government specifically told us to bring you along.”

‘Me?’

‘Oh. Is this about Toluk?’

Apparently, the Toluk documents I handed over in Theo’s room had finally been decrypted and made their way up to the government.

After much internal debate, the government seemed to have decided that they needed to reach out to the Guilds for cooperation.

“When you said you were going to do something, that you were going to go off on your own, was that related to this? Are we going to know what you found out after wandering around out there like that.”

Hye-won realized I was involved with this matter, and smiled at my direction.

“…If I go, what about, Yeon-won?”

There was a moment of silence.

“That’s why I didn’t want to go either, but… I have to ask Yeon-Ho to stay here for now.”

Thud.

I saw Pyo Yeon-Won walking down the stairs.

‘Ah..’

‘Did he learn about our conversation again?’

I’m not sure, but there seemed to be some formless things having a conversation with Pyo Yeon-Won every time, so there were times when even if he stood out of earshot, he still acted like he knew everything that we talked about.

“Go ahead. You don’t need to ask Yeon-Ho to stay.”

“Yeon-won, will you be fine? I don’t really know when the summit will end.”

“It’s okay. I’m fine, it’s just being alone anyway. You’re too overprotective.”

Yeon-won gave a small smile, and he was trying very hard not to show any signs of weakness.

It’s just that he can’t escape our eyes as hunters, and everything is clear as day.

“Still, I’d rather… If Yeon-Ho stayed.”

“Sister.”

Pyo Yeon-Won interrupted with a firm tone.

“I’m telling you it’s okay. I’d hate it more if I got in the way of your work, and I’d be more upset about it.”

I couldn’t help but be stunned by his clear assertion.

He must have realized that he was the reason why the Guild has stopped operations for a while.

“So take care, both of you. I’m not really alone.”

Pyo Yeon-Won waved his hand lightly, and the little rosemary on the table danced in response.

It was actually such a strange sight to see, but just then, a car horn sounded outside.

It was a sign that Jo Yeon-ho had arrived.
