You Plus Me Equals

Chapter 73 - Too Much

"Sam, I didn't mean it that way, don't be upset." Evan followed Sam down the hall while he ignored him, his red hair was styled to be curly and mimic Leo's hair today. Sam had said Leo's curls were endearing, and he wanted to try them out.

He thought the way Sam normally looked was the best, but anything Sam wanted to try he supported because Sam looked good in anything. Today he wore a short-sleeved lilac hoodie with three blue horizontal stripes around his middle. It was still spring, so the fact that he wasn't wearing a jacket was the whole reason he had even stopped by, and this mess had started. He brought Sam the paint speckled black jean jacket he had been wearing out at the field since Sam was cold and didn't want to go home. The amphitheater's heating was out, and he had been there for four hours today, so he promised as soon as practice was over, he would come and lend him his jacket.

He had on a blue vest with a hood and a gray T-shirt and felt fine so he knew he didn't need his jacket, anyway. Especially, not after running on the track for an hour.

"Still, you didn't have to say it like that." Sam snapped, not even looking back and giving Evan the time of day.

Sam stuck his key in the lock and turned it before shoving the door open angrily and going inside.

"Oh, come on." Evan walked inside and took off his shoes before putting on the pair of white slippers that were his.

Sam plopped down on the couch, and Evan stepped from the small mat that was Sam's little entrance room indicator. Sam's head snapped towards him, and his eyes flashed as if daring him to put even the nail on his big toe into his abode.

Evan knelt on the ground and pouted.

"Sam..."

"Sam...",

"Come on, you know I didn't mean it like that."

"Didn't mean it like that?"

"Or didn't know they were going to be revealing who the votes were by out loud?" Sam hissed.

"Honestly, you don't care about the vote." Evan crawled across the floor on his hands and knees, and Sam didn't make another sound to stop him, so he crawled his way right up to kneel in front of Sam's knees then placed his chin on them and looked up at Sam gently.

"Can you forgive me? I should never have said that their voice was the most beautiful I had ever heard in my life."

Sam s.u.c.k.e.d in a breath sharply.

"And?"

"Or implied that I would worship the ground they walk on."

"And..."

"Or... Oh, seriously Sam, if this was someone else, you would have said something way worse. Like, Oh my god! I would sell my soul to the god of death in exchange to be able to listen to and spend all my days relaxing in his aura." Evan finished annoyed.

Sam glared at him.

"Even if I did say something so garish... I would be joking."

"And I certainly would not have said it after sitting there and saying straight to my boyfriend's face that he is one thousand percent your type."

"And if I had the nerve to say such a thing to my boyfriend's face, I for sure would have never answered his, follow up."

"Awe, just like me. With a. Nope, you are the opposite of my type, like far, far opposite."

Evan winced.

'He's not wrong, you are an idiot. You really should watch what you say, you know how s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e Sam is you nitwit, he is a lot like Leo in that way.'

'And you hit on his most s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e topic of all. His peac.o.c.king pride.'

"Can you understand to me, I find how different you are from my ideal man to be the s.e.xiest thing in the world."

"You showed me that loving someone has nothing to do with the goals we set for ourselves or some list we make, but what our heart tells us at the moment we meet someone."

"Frankly, thank goodness you are, not what I was looking for in a man. Because the checklist I thought would bring me Mr. Right led me to nothing but a string of losers before."

"I am proud to say you don't check a single box on my lousy list, because I could never have made a list as good as you."

"You showed me checking boxes every day to be happy is the wrong way to live." Evan sat up and leaned forward, his bum coming off his feet so that he was standing as tall as he could on his knees, and he pressed his lips onto Sam's gently.

Sam melted into the soft kiss, and Evan pulled away, not wanting to deepen the kiss into the dangerous territory they always went.

'Every time we fight it's always solved by s.e.x, but generally, it's because the fight isn't about anything really that important.'

'But you went and screwed up bad this time... He was actually for real, genuinely upset.'

'You two are dating, and you said that another guy is your perfect ideal type while he doesn't check a single box, of course, he is going to be upset.'

"Is everything okay now?" Evan asked softly, rubbing his nose against Sam's softly.

Sam s.u.c.k.e.d in his bottom lip as Evan pulled away, and he could tell that even though he said he never got that way. That he was for sure, one hundred percent feeling shy right now.

"Do you want to watch a movie?" Evan asked, he reached out and rubbed Sam's cheek gently. Sam nuzzled into the gesture while holding back a cheery little grin.

"I'll make popcorn," Evan added.

"Yes, only if I pick the movie." Sam agreed instantly.

"No, I pick, it's the guests' choice."

"Psshhh, Bitch, since when are you a guest at my house. You are practically a resident."

Evan laughed.

"Fair."

"But then again, your place has a nicer, little kitchen, booth area."

"Its two counters with a microwave and a sink..."

"It's a really nice microwave and a sink."

"But you also have Netflix, and lighting that doesn't look like it's from some eighties thriller set."

"I knew you had ulterior motives for coming here, admit it, you like me for my..."

"Microwave." Evan finished, cheekily.

Sam glared at him but smiled.

"I do have a nice microwave, it's hot."

Evan blinked at him blankly.

"Oh, so your microwave joke was funny, but mine was too far."

"Yes, You always take things too far," Evan replied.

"Excuse me, I do not take things too far all the time, name one time recently that I have been too much."

"Stalking Leo,"

"That was Max's idea."

Evan smirked naughtily.

"Kissing Max..."

"I~"

"Kissing Jae."

"I was drunk!"

"Okay, what about what you did at the restaurant.."

"The other day, in front of the guys on my track team."

"I contest; that one was not my fault at all!"

"I didn't know you were not wearing u.n.d.e.r.w.e.a.r, Evan."

Evan laughed and walked back over and cuddled his arms up around Sam over the back of the couch.

"Face it, you are more extreme and loads of fun; while I am just the funnier one."

"It's okay, I like extra Sam, he is my favorite."

Sam snuggled his shoulders back.

"I don't know how to respond when you put me on the spot like that."

"Let me be your microwave, and you can be my popcorn." Evan chuckled unable to say it without laughing.

Sam's shoulders shook.

"Oh, just laugh, I already can tell you are laughing."

"Shaddup," Sam said, turning and grinning.

"Awe see it's already working, look you popped."

Sam leaned down, grabbed his pink slipper, and hucked it at Evan, Evan dodged it laughing.

'He needed more of this. It helped keep his mind off what was coming. And the sadness he knew was not far off.'
