You Plus Me Equals

Chapter 76 - Koi Pond

Evan lay back on the edge of the Koi Pond, the fish swam beneath the part of his body that hung over the twelve-inch ledge that was made for sitting, not lying. But Evan was good at balancing, and frankly, it was so hot today that he wouldn't mind terribly if he fell in.

Maybe the fish wouldn't mind sharing the cool water with him. The soft bubbling of the three fountains always kept the water crystal clear enough that you could see the bottom of the little three-foot-tall basin. The pretty plaster that was a long octagon was filled with fish in and was the highlight of the large triple level foyer. The glass railings and huge probably forty-foot ceilings with giant skylights as big as a house, all focused on that one point in the room. The skylights were big, and let in enough light that you could count the tadpoles, it seemed like a great place to wallow.

Evan lay holding his phone above him and playing a farming game. But in reality, his mind was blank. He was actually staring up at the little notification bell in the corners as he pretended to be watching the little guy farming up row after row of cabbages.

Sam was late again, it was getting a little exhausting, but at the same time, he couldn't fault Sam.

Because Sam loved running, even more than Max did, and it addicted Max to it. So dedicated that most of the time he would go pick up Leo at his room before heading over to the track where they would lie on the bleachers and work until dark. It wasn't as nice as the library, but it gave them time to talk to each other between practices. If Evan had, to be honest, it was s.e.xy as hell watching Sam. Sam was s.e.xy when he dripped with sweat, his shirt plastered to his body by the wind, while each leg muscle bulged and worked together to carry him across the track.

His arms sliced through the air, and his face contracted with concentration. Sam always threw his bangs back in some cute way before he ran, just to keep his always getting longer hair, from out of his eyes while he was racing.

Sam had been talking about cutting it, but honestly, Evan hoped he, wouldn't he was really liking the way it looked as it grew out.

He enjoyed watching the bright red locks bounce up and down. He liked watching Sam adjust his pace and measure his stride to be shorter or longer, depending on if he was doing sprints or rallies.

Evan sighed, clicked the power button on his phone, then dropped it into his bag on the floor.

"Wow, are you sulking? I didn't know you knew how to do that." Jae said walking up to Evan. Evan sat up.

Ever since he had started dating Sam, he had been getting to know some of Sam and Max's friends, and they were actually surprisingly cool.

Jae and Myles were actually even into the same ESports team as him, Team Happy.

Evan stood up and smiled at his new friends. Jae walked up with Myles and River trailing behind them. Evan waved at them all before clasping hands with Jae and then leaning down to grab his bag.

I didn't know you guys were coming here what are you guys doing in Geology and biology building.

"Ah, River wants to introduce us to his new girlfriend Lisa. So we all decided to go look."

"Of course, I don't care, No one can be cuter than you Myles," Jae said sweetly.

"You have a girlfriend so I would like it if you took your disgusting hands off my shoulder, thank you." Myles turned towards Jae glaring daggers. Evan held back a chuckled whenever Myles looked at Jae like that he looked like grumpy cat.

Jae snickered.

"Aw, but you will always be number one in my heart Myles"

Evan watched Jae play and make fun of Myles and watched Myles face turn and sour.

When Evan had first met Jae, Jae had said that he had no problem with him dating his friend. As he was actually questioning and so understood and knew the feelings Max was going through, but, he also understood how Sam just never saw gender ever. He remembered Jae wishing him luck when he said he wasn't going to just experiment with Sam anymore but actually pursue him for real now.

Myles had been taking the teasing kinda in an odd way, and he had a feeling watching his micro-expressions. Maybe, Myles has liked Jae all along but just never said anything.

'Or maybe you are reading into things that aren't there. They have been friends, even longer than Sam and Max'

Evan walked alongside them the light from the huge, airy three-level room towards the ramp that led to the higher levels. The sunlight reflected on his bright surroundings. He had always loved this room; it was light and airy, and all the glass along, the gigantic skylights, and with the Koi pond. Plus the endless amount of plants that even crawled up some pillars made this room seem as spacious and open as outdoors. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel small and useless in the surrounding expanse.

'Which was a good thing since he had been doubting himself so much lately.'

'It's so easy to get caught up in your own world when your world seems rushed and hectic.'

"Do you want to come to meet Lisa with us?" Jae asked, and Evan realized he had been unconsciously following them up.

"Ah, sorry I got distracted, Nah, I think I am going to wait here, I told Sam I would meet him here for lunch."

"Lunch??"

"But it's already one-thirty," Myles commented.

River laughed. "That sounds like Sam, he always kept us waiting all the time. Unless he was with Max. Max is the only person who could ever get him anywhere in time."

Evan chuckled. "I guess I need to kidnap max and ask him to teach me his ways." He joked.

Evan shook his head and waved goodbye, and they all walked off, chatting amongst themselves.

Evan turned around and walked back around the pond to sit back down where he had been before.

"Want to have lunch with me bubbles?"

"How long have you been waiting for your other half?" Evan looked at the bright red and white thirty-year-old fish and sighed.

Evan bent down into his bag and pulled out this lunch box, opened it up and pulled out the little sandwich.

"Do you like turkey?" He turned and looked at Bubbles.

"I like turkey." Evan looked up and saw under the archway Sam's beautiful figure walking towards him.

Evan smirked.

"You are a turkey, a slow-cooked turkey, cause it took your a.s.s long enough to get here."

"Put the bag down," Sam demanded.

Evan quirked an eyebrow, but complied.

Sam took two running steps and launched his whole one hundred and eighty-eight centimeters at Evan.

Evan threw out his hands to avoid the incoming catastrophe and luckily caught Sam properly, without bashing their faces together as Sam wrapped his long legs around his front smoothly.

Sam blinked down at Evan.

While Evan blinked up at him with surprise at Sam's expression of innocence.

Sam wrapped his fingers into Evan's long dark hair and began stroking it back away from his face.

"Sorry, I am late. Coach had Max and I teaching the new kids the six hundred meter relay with a double baton. And those brats have no concept of coordination."

Evan opened his eyes, feeling this wave of calm and happiness flood him as Sam's warm skin from the sunlight oozed into his own.

"So, do you want to eat?" Evan asked him. Evan noticed Sam was staring at the water.

He glanced down at his own reflection and could see the two of them silhouetted in the water; the position looked very provocative.

Evan looked up and saw Sam was looking at him with an evil little smirk on his face.

'Naughty Sam, I don't even have to ask what you are thinking, I was thinking it too.'

Sam's fingers slid across Evan's skin and slid inside the neck of his shirt. His thin jersey pressed as he got closer; he massaged the back of my neck with his fingers.

The soft patter of heavy raindrops splashed against the millions of windows.

Evan gazed with the affection up at Sam, and he cleared his throat.

"What are you thinking right now, I am thinking, I don't want to get wet right now, so we should stay here," Evan said in a hushed, soft tone.

Sam looked back, his eyes winked devilishly and without missing a beat.

"I'm not sure staying here will save you from that," he responded, while still fingering his neck in soft circles.

Evan smirked.

"Not even pretending to be innocent today, are we?"

Sam fluttered his eyelashes. "Whatever do you mean, I can be coy," he replied.

Evan blinked at him.

"You can't be coy even if you tried."

Sam leaned forward. "I can be coy if I want to be, but you make me not want to." Sam purred.

Evan smirked and pulled him in, Sam's lips fell on top of his, and he opened his mouth, eager to be delving inside.

Evan opened up for him, his strong arms pressed Sam's body into his tighter.

Sam g.r.o.a.n.e.d softly.

Sure, they coulda waited till they got back to the dorms, but it was raining outside, and he had been waiting for this kiss all day.

Who knew it would be a kiss by the pond.
