37. A Seed Planted

Translator: Flying Lines

“Wow, there we meet again!” Yue Wanzhi was a bit surprised first then stretched his neck to look behind Su Jie. And to his delight, Zhui Xing wasn’t there!

Su Jie didn’t respond and stopped with a frown. Yu Jiang on his shoulder was still deep in his coma.

Yue Wanzhi’s imagination went wild when he saw that Su Jie was silent in low spirit. “What? You were driven out of Prince Rui’s Mansion? Look at yourself! You deserve that.”
Su Jie didn’t utter a word, his face cold and the look in his eyes gloomy. “I’m on my way back to Prince Rui’s Mansion. Stop me if you got the nerves.”

Yue Wanzhi became somewhat hesitant. It was rumored that Prince Rui was most favored by the emperor. He didn’t dare to provoke people from Prince Rui’s Mansion in his heyday. Yet he was unwilling to let go of his opportunity to take revenge.

In the end, he gnashed, “Let’s just wait and see how long you can be protected by Prince Rui.”

Su Jie curled up his lips and sneered when he walked past Yue Wanzhi, “Don’t you forget that you’re no match for me.”

Yue Wanzhi was infuriated and stared fixedly at Su Jie’s back with hatred, his teeth gritted.

Su Jie, however, after being provoked, suddenly had an idea.

Ever since that conversation with Zhou Zaiyue, his mind was in a tangled mess.

And Yue Wanzhi’s provocation led him to realize one thing, that was, after all these years of his devotion to Prince Qin his master, ironically he could only borrow the power of Prince Rui when caught in trouble.

He had got nothing for his sacrifice. Pain or suffer, he took them all alone. And all was because Prince Qin saved his life, therefore he had to be loyal to him.

No payment could ever suffice when it came to such a heavy favor. That was what the Guqin Master had been telling him. Being instilled with too many creeds of loyalty since young, Su Jie, no matter how frustrated he was, would still faithfully obey Prince Qin’s orders.

But somehow, a seed of doubt was planted in his long-instilled creeds of loyalty.

The seed of disgruntlement was first planted by the Guqin Master then sprouted after Prince Qin’s ‘nourishment’.

Xiao ShengNian had left for the imperial palace when he got back. The guards hurried to take Yu Jiang from Su Jie’s hands in fluster. While Su Jie headed straight to the House of Auspice after asking the guards to take good care of Yu Jiang.

Zhou Zaiyue was watering the flowers in the yard, secretly waiting for Su Jie.

Su Jie was planning to go back to his room when Zhou Zaiyue stopped him, “Please wait a moment.”

Su Jie halted his steps and waited for Zhou Zaiyue to continue.

Zhou Zaiyue, face sulky, asked, “You got hurt?” He, as a miracle-working doctor, knew at a glance that Su Jie had sustained inner injury. Su Jie went out all smiles but got back with a ghastly pale face. Even a normal person would know something happened, let alone a divine doctor.

Su Jie remained silent, refusing to talk about it.

Zhou Zaiyue had promised to treat Su Jie as a normal junior, not to use honorifics to arouse suspicion.

Yet exasperated, Zhou Zaiyue forgot his promise, “Why can’t you take good care of yourself, Your Highness!”

Su Jie still kept silent as he didn’t know what to say. And he had nothing to say.
