6. The Gorgeous Red Robe

Translator: Flying Lines

That question brought Xiao Shengnian’s hand holding the teacup to a pause as slight trace of fluctuation flashed across his usually calm eyes, like the ripples of a lake under gentle breeze.

The scene that comely boy sitting quietly in the bathtub suddenly came to his mind…which stirred up a somewhat strange feeling in his heart. “So I…have feelings for him?” But the next second he denied it, resuming his casual and graceful self but the corner of his mouth slightly curved. Then he heard Xiao Shengxian muttering something, “I’ll go check that boy to sound him out. Maybe I can get something out of him to see if he’s sent by someone harboring evil intention. What do you say, brother?” With that, he took a sip of the tea.

“No need,” Xiao Shengnian replied, absolute confidence in his eyes.

“Why?”

“Because…” Xiao Shengnian suddenly paused, staring at his own reflection in the tea.

Because the boy now belonged to him, and him alone. As for who had sent him here, he simply didn’t care.

“Because what?” Xiao Shengxian asked, a bit sulky, the curiosity was killing him but his brother just stopped!!!

“That is not something you should know,” Xiao Shengnian answered in a bland tone then drank up the tea.

“My Childe, His Highness has your robe delivered.” Yu Jiang’s voice sounded from outside the door.

“Come in,” Su Jie said and stopped putting on his original robe.

Yu Jiang pushed the door open and walked in, a gorgeous robe in his hand, which brought Su Jie to a slight frown.

Why red? He hated red because it was the same color of blood. But since it was prepared by Xiao Shengnian, he had to accept it. And the feeling of restraint on basically everything annoyed him.

But the robe was of best quality with exquisite embroidery, soft, gorgeous and perfectly threaded. Even some faint fragrance could be smelt.

Su Jie gave the robe a sniff with a somewhat weird look.

Yu Jiang was confused and asked, “Childe, any problem with the robe?”

“Nothing,” Su Jie shook his head, put on the robe and walked to see himself in the mirror. The next second, he was stunned.

The boy reflected in the mirror was stunningly good-looking. His eyes were bright like stars in the night sky, his long hair dropped to the waist smooth, and his skin fair like the purest jade. Between the brows of the boy exuded some pride and unruliness which against the gorgeous red added a touch of intoxicating charm.

Su Jie cracked a smile, a smile that suddenly lit up the whole room. Su Jie himself was stunned by his reflection in the mirror. He had never seen this side of himself so closely.

Yu Jiang exclaimed in amazement, “Childe, you look gorgeous in red.”

“Huh…” Su Jie sneered, some bewitching charm between his brows. He reached out to touch himself in the mirror, his voice clear but lonely, “Yeah…I’m nearly captivated by myself.”

Yu Jiang blinked his eyes in confusion as he didn’t catch Su Jie’s whispers.

“Childe, sorry I didn’t catch you.”

“Nothing,” Su Jie smiled. He then walked to the bedside and groped for the jade pendant under the pillow but it was not there!

Where was it?

Though flustered, Su Jie remained a poker face, not showing any sign of panic. Then he recalled that before he went to Prince Rui’s study the night before, he had placed the pendant under the pillow of the guest room, not here.
