61. Zhou ZaiYue’s Skill

Translator: Flying Lines

Su Jie twisted his waist promptly to dodge the sword. The chess pieces in his hand, with his internal force infused, swept through the air like a sharp blade and went straight to the Man of Sacrifice.

The black-clothed and masked person probably did not expect that Su Jie also knew martial arts. His body was flexible enough to avoid the chess pieces. However, an inconspicuous chess piece hit a place that was not considered critical but caused the movement of the hitman to be still for a second. Su Jie took advantage of this to shoot several more chess pieces.

Although Zhou Zaiyue’s martial skill wasn’t really good, the old man carried a lot of treasures. Seeing that they were outnumbered and these black-clothed masked hitmen fighting desperately to complete their tasks, Zhou Zaiyue had a sinking feeling that they would probably lose and even get injured in the end. It didn’t matter if it was just he himself get hurt. But Su Jie mattered a lot to him and he couldn’t bear to see him hurt. If Su Jie was injured right under his nose, he would be too shameful to even face the late emperor after death!

Zhou Zaiyue took a medicine bottle out from his sleeve pocket and scattered the contents out. The hitman in front of him suddenly closed his eyes and aimed his knife straight at Zhou Zaiyue. Since Zhou Zaiyue was an elderly and it did not seem that there was any weapon on him, the black-masked man naturally relaxed his vigilance. In his opinion, this powder was probably aimed for the eyes or for the respiratory tract. So he closed his eyes and at the same time, held his breath.

However, the man in black had underestimated Zhou Zaiyue’s protection tactics. This powder was able to spread over a wide range and its main point of entry was through the skin.

“Ah—” Even though the man in black had his face covered, it was not enough to avoid the small particles of the powder, which could penetrate almost anywhere with ease. He felt the burning pain on his face, just like a fire scorching his skin, and seemed to be peeling his skin off.

Zhou Zaiyue’s powder did not distinguish between the enemy and foe. In this situation, everyone except Zhou Zaiyue who was immune to this powder, was not able to withstand it. Zhou Zaiyue shook his head, feeling somewhat dissatisfied. He swiftly took out two more packets of powder, opened and sprayed it in the air, diffusing it into the surrounding.

In an instant, there was a strange scent.

What Su Jie hated the most and felt the most helplessness was when facing all kinds of powders. So he had jumped far away the moment he saw Zhou Zaiyue taking out the medicine bottle. Sun Shu, however, still wore his blank look, not nervous with the arrival of the hitmen as he sat on the ground next to Zhou Zaiyue.

Therefore, it was inevitable that Sun Shu had also gotten covered with some of the powder.

Zhou Zaiyue managed to find the time to throw a pill to Sun Shu, who swallowed the pill without any hesitation and continued to sit on the ground. He looked quite calm because he knew, with Zhou Zaiyue by his side, these people in black wouldn’t be able to hurt him.

The strange scent spread quickly in the air after Zhou Zaiyue sprayed the powder. Everyone knew that they should not inhale this scent but they only began to hold their breath after smelling it. No one knew what was used in making this scent but the effects were fast and strange. The people in black who held their breath, had just walked two steps when their bodies began to tremble slightly before they could even wield their swords.

Su Jie also felt that there were changes in his body. It was as if something was rushing towards his head making him dizzy, and his movements were a little out of control.

Zhou Zaiyue did not care to protect Sun Shu, who was by his side. Having taken the pill, Sun Shu wouldn’t be affected by the scent from the powder, so naturally he would not be in any danger of being stabbed by the hitman. Right now, Zhou Zaiyue’s top priority was to protect Su Jie.

So, the old man rushed to Su Jie as fast as he could and gave him a pill.

After ingesting it, Su Jie felt that his physical discomfort had been reduced. He didn’t expect Zhou Zaiyue to be so awesome. He just brought down a large group of people without any effort.

Seeing Su Jie returning back to normal, Zhou Zaiyue took out the powder again and began to shake it outwards.

Seeing that, all the black-clothed masked hitmen couldn’t help but curse in horror. They didn’t know the origin of this old man. They had thought that this old man was the least threatening person and didn’t expect that the most lethal thing that caused them to fall was their underestimation of this inconspicuous old man.

Moreover, this old man seemed to have countless powder packages.

The assassination ended in a very dramatic manner. These men in black came murderously, but none was able to leave.

They all fell to the ground, their faces glowing with abnormal blue-purple bruise, and they had difficulty breathing.

Yu Che was also one of these people.

What a poor thing. He had been forgotten. Zhou Zaiyue had only cared whether Su Jie was injured or not and had ignored Yu Che’s wellbeing. Yet, Su Jie’s attention was drawn away by the powder. Amazed by Zhou Zaiyue’s superb powder, he also forgot the poor Yu Che.

Fortunately, it was not too late when they finally thought of the poor thing. Without delay, Yu Che was pulled back from the gates of hell by Zhou Zaiyue. He sat on the ground, panted slightly and gave Zhou Zaiyue a thumbs up, “Elder Zhou, you are so amazing. I admire you.”

Su Jie also nodded in agreement: “Elder Zhou, you are awesome.”

Zhou Zaiyue smiled and felt really good about being praised by Su Jie. He cracked a bright smile and said, “There will be more magical things in the future. You will see them.”

Just as Su Jie wanted to speak, he suddenly heard Sun Shu scream.

It turned out that a hitman close to Sun Shu didn’t give up at all. His face showed a look unafraid of death, and his eyes revealed a vicious light. The hitman struggled and threw the long sword in his hand towards Sun Shu at his last gasp before he collapsed to the ground, completely dead this time.

Sun Shu had been a civil minister for many years and had only a scanty knowledge of martial arts. When he saw the long sword flying to him, his pupils suddenly shrank as he rolled to one side. The long sword only touched the edge of his clothes, and pierced into the stone table. It then fell to the ground with a bang, producing a clear sound.

Sun Shu was frightened into cold sweat. That was narrow escape.
