1 Year Of Beginning

"Mom!" Feng Mian wanted to cry. She looked at her phone, which had incoming phone call from her mother. Without thinking much, she hurriedly picked it up and called out once more, "Mom."

"I'm going to sleep for a long time today, so you go eat with your friend."

"But Yu Yan is going to eat with her family and boyfriend!"

"Then go and find a boyfriend."

"Mom!"

Feng Mian wanted to cry. Boyfriend is not a pebble on the street that she could find so easily, alright! There would be no way she could find a boyfriend soon.

"I'll cook something for you, ok?"

"I'm on a diet, so I should just eat the food from the hospital. If you're feeling bad, give me a grandchild soon."

"Mom…"

Today, her mother was very nagging. Even though Feng Mian felt a bit peeved, she knew that her mother just wanted the best for her. Still, she felt a headache coming. For at least a year, she wouldn't be able to fulfill her mother's wishes at all.

After a few more nags, Feng Mian closed the call and headed to the counter. Since she was here, it would be better if she took care of some of the doc.u.ments first. Upon arriving at the counter, her eyes widened at the sight of a man standing there. His firm build, tall figure, and black hair might be common, but his strikingly handsome face and sharp gaze was rare.

She would never be able to mistake him for someone else.

"Pres…. Brother Liang," Feng Mian hurriedly changed her way of address when she saw him glaring at her.

Zhang Liang sighed. "Aren't you visiting your mother?"

"She kicked me out." Feng Mian didn't really wish to tell Zhang Liang more than that. "What are you doing here? Didn't you have work to do?"

"I have already finished them and my father is calling me, asking me to bring you along for our family dinner."

"Family dinner?"

"Zhang Family dinner with my two siblings."

Hearing that, Feng Mian's face turned pale. She was not ready to face them yet! It took her nearly a week's time to get used to call Zhang Liang as Brother Liang without any pause. She was not sure that her acting would be up to par if she had to meet with his twin too.

"There's no need to be so afraid. They won't eat you," Zhang Liang raised his hand and knocked Feng Mian's forehead. Sometimes, he couldn't understand how this woman could be so afraid of every little thing. Not really afraid, but it seemed that she had little to no confidence.

"That's what you say, but what if they found out…?"

Zhang Liang leaned closer. His face showed a bright smile, which made him look much more handsome. "That just means you need to act better, Sweetheart. If you keep this attitude when you're facing me, how do you think they'll see you as?"

"I…"

Feng Mian was at loss. She breathed and calmed herself down. There were more times when she showed her true feelings in front of Zhang Liang lately, not too guarded anymore. However, she still understood deep down about their differences, so she tried to hold back a lot.

At the same time, she realized that Zhang Liang also acted much better than before. His expression looked so natural as if he was truly teasing her.

"Also, do you want to accompany your mother or follow me?" Zhang Liang asked. If Feng Mian gave the reason that she wanted to stay with her mother, he would have a reason to refuse his father's demand. Though, he might be in for another lecture afterwards.

"Uhm… Can I ask for a favor?"

"Oh?" Zhang Liang's eyebrows arched. Feng Mian had never asked anything excessive to him during her stay in his residence. Even though her status had changed to Madam Zhang, she didn't become a spendthrift. The only money she spent were all used to buy painting materials.

In addition, she didn't ask him anything other than allowing her to work. Though, she would need to work from the house in the future.

"What do you want?"

"Can you… act as my boyfriend in front of my mom?" Feng Mian asked. She didn't know any other men that she could possibly ask for this. There were some male friends that she had, but not a single one of them were close enough to make her ask this kind of thing.

Zhang Liang's lips pursed. "Why not tell her that you're already married to me?"

"Because that's too sudden. I don't want her to worry and think unnecessary things," Feng Mian explained.

"Alright, so let's visit your mother."

"Now?"

"I brought her some things," Zhang Liang handed her a small bag. "Don't worry, I know her diet."

Feng Mian accepted the bag. She could see that it contained some types of food from the way it looked like. Looking up, she truly wondered what Zhang Liang possibly didn't know.

From the very first time they met, he seemed to know everything like the back of his hand.

"This…?"

"Just a show of filial piety."

Even though it was nothing but a simple gesture, Feng Mian knew that Zhang Liang was very busy. Just having the time to prepare this already made her feel touched. She knew that it must haven't been easy for him.

Though, he could actually just ask his servant…

"Brother Liang."

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

Zhang Liang noticed the grateful look on Feng Mian's face. He smiled and patted her head. "It's nothing. When one act, one should do it until the very end."
