Chapter 46 - My Role

Feng Mian covered her painting with a cloth. It would be embarrassing if someone saw the drawing, so she chose to cover it even though there might not be anyone who would come here.

Zhang Liang saw Feng Mian's action and took out a key. "This is the key for this room. You can keep it."

"Eh?"

"That way, no one will be able to enter this room unless you give permission."

"Thank you." Feng Mian kept the key as she smiled brightly. She locked the door after they got out and followed Zhang Liang to the dining room. Chef Lu had already prepared a lot of delicious dishes, which Feng Mian ate happily. They tasted so much better than the takeout she usually had.

Zhang Liang's way of eating was much more refined. It might be because of their difference in upbringing as Feng Mian could see that even his table manner was like an art.

"Do you want more?" Zhang Liang noticed that Feng Mian was looking in his direction.

"Ah, no. I'm just thinking that your table manner is really good," Feng Mian refused as she pointed to Zhang Liang's hand. The way he cut the meat was very neat. If she compared it to herself, she would be too embarrassed.

Zhang Liang smiled. "It's one of the basic studies I have to learn as a Zhang Family descendant. Good table manners can also give you better impression when you're trying to strike a deal with your business partner."

Feng Mian nodded in understanding. Even though she didn't have any plan to become a businesswoman because she was certain that she didn't have the talent, she knew that his politeness would give a better impression. After all, a gentleman should be refined and polite. That was one of the common rules.

Though, even if they just eat normally, it would be fine since it was already modern time.

"What's your plan for your activities, Feng Mian?"

"I'll finish my work and visit my mother on the weekend if it's allowed," Feng Mian replied.

Zhang Liang nodded. "You can visit her if you want."

"Thank you."

Feng Mian finished eating and drank the water. There was also wine and juice, but she was not fond of drinking alcoholic drinks nor juice, so she settled with water. As for Zhang Liang, he usually also drank water or juice. This time, it was water.

"Zhang Liang."

"Yes?"

"Is there anything else I need to do?" as your wife.

Feng Mian didn't voice out the last phrase of her sentences because she knew that Zhang Liang must have understood. As she had expected, Zhang Liang nodded.

"There's nothing that you need to do except staying here and not doing anything."

"Nothing at all?"

"Yes."

Zhang Liang smiled when he saw the confused expression on Feng Mian's face. "Are you hoping that you'll have a lot to do?"

"Well, I just thought that I might need to visit your father or something like that?"

"Call him Father in law. And don't worry, he'll be the one making a visit in the future when he has the time. In the meantime, I'm sure he's busy visiting Xue and Di La."

Feng Mian arched her eyebrows. "You're calling her name directly?"

"Yes." Zhang Liang looked up. "There's no need to be so polite in the family, right? Besides, Xue always cringes if I try to be polite with Di La."

Thinking about Zhang Liang's funny twins, Feng Mian's lips curled up. Her impression of Zhang Xue was that he was so different from Zhang Liang. While Zhang Liang was a serious person, Zhang Xue was the complete opposite.

"Wouldn't it also sound close if you call her as your Jie Jie?"

"I don't like it," Zhang Liang stated calmly. He looked back at Feng Mian. "I will need you to come to some parties next month. You don't have to do anything except acting as my loving wife."

Loving wife?

Feng Mian wanted to cry. She could barely be herself around Zhang Liang because she always found him to be slightly intimidating. The large gap in their status was too apparent, making her uncomfortable. But since it was the task that she needed to do, she would think of a way.

"What kind of parties?"

This time, Zhang Liang blinked his eyes in disbelief. "Have you never gone to any party before?"

"Well, I have, but I'm sure that it can't be compared."

The only parties she had ever gone to was only some celebration in her school and university back then. There were also some parties in the company, but it was mostly just eating together. It was not grand and mostly just watching performance then eating. Feng Mian knew that the party Zhang Liang meant must be the one for the riches, which is completely different from her world.

"It's a normal party," Zhang Liang replied. His finger tapped on the table, thinking for a suitable answer. "People who come there mostly just drink and don't eat even though there is a lot of food prepared. They come to build connections with other companies who come there."

Feng Mian's lips twitched when she heard that. As she had expected, she truly didn't belong in that world.

"Are you sure you want me to come?"

"If it's not you, who should I ask?" Zhang Liang arched his eyebrows. "You're my wife, Feng Mian."

"Right…"

In truth, Feng Mian truly didn't want to come, but she knew that it was part of the deal for her to act as his wife. She saw Zhang Liang glanced at his watch before standing up. It must be time for him to work again.

"Lou, my suit."

"Yes, Master."

Feng Mian watched as Zhang Liang left as she stayed still in her position. What should she do now?
