2 Years Of Restarting

Chapter 71 - Kang Mao Yao’s Birthday Party

Yu Yan averted her eyes. In any case, she didn't want to have any interaction with them since she herself rarely interacted with these two in her life.

"Yu Yan? You really come?"

Hearing the greetings, Yu Yan turned to the side. Several young ladies walked in her direction, but Yu Yan already felt her head throb. She couldn't remember even a single one of them since she had left the Capital City for a long time and never even participated in this kind of party.

"Yu Yan?" A young woman who looked the same age as Yu Yan called out again. She noticed that Yu Yan seemed to be looking at them in confusion and then quickly introduced herself. "I'm Zhou Wei, your classmates in High School."

Zhou Wei?

Yu Yan did remember that Zhou Family was one of the upper class family that had so many family members. Her high school was already one of the backward school, so she immediately remembered when there was a member of upper class society there.

"Ah, right, Zhou Wei." Yu Yan nodded. One of the few troublemakers of Zhou Family, that was Zhou Wei. She had some memories of the past but she couldn't really remember her interaction with the other party.

Zhou Wei could see that Yu Yan didn't remember her but she didn't mind. "You never come to any party when you're in high school. I would have never expected that you're actually Yu Xin's older sister."

"Yu Xin?" Yu Yan resisted the urge to sneer. Of course that good sister of hers would never forget to smear her name even though she didn't come to the upper class society party. "I'm flattered."

Sensing the faintly cold tone, Zhou Wei smiled knowingly. "I already know that two faced b*tch is all talk. Rather than that, I'm more curious about you."

"Me?" Yu Yan arched her eyebrows.

"Of course. Do you forget how I followed you in the past to have you teach me how to fight better?"

Yu Yan's lips twitched. That… seemed to be the case.

As Zhou Wei was an unruly woman despite coming from the big Zhou Family, she was often bashed up by her grandfather. She also created a lot of troubles back in High School and there was a period of time when she was chasing after Yu Yan and Long Ying, asking them to teach her how to fight better because she couldn't fight as well as them.

If Yu Yan was not wrong, she ended up beating up Zhou Wei so badly that the young girl didn't dare to follow her again….

Of course, Yu Yan would not admit that she was only following Long Ying's advice since she herself was not really an expert in fight. She only knew how to brawl and this Zhou Wei was also the same.

Long Ying even told her that their fight was so bad that even chicken would cry.

She ignored him for a week after he said that.

"Right... did you get injured badly?"

"Of course not!" Zhou Wei laughed lightly. "In any case, thanks to you beating me, my grandfather finally allowed me to learn martial arts. Hmph, now I can say confidently that I can beat you."

"Do you seriously want to have a fight in a party like this?"

"Well, no."

Yu Yan smiled. The young woman was quite cute now that she interacted more with the other party. "Why are you curious about me?"

"That two faced b*tch always speak that she's concerned about you but kept on revealing your dirt."

Normal people would not realize it, but Zhou Wei had already attended many parties and got involved with a lot of people. How could she not realize that Yu Xin was twisting her words so that the one who looked good would be herself while Yu Yan looked bad?

And since Yu Yan was not even present, how could she even clear that stain? It had become stuck to be the impression of the upper class society whenever they were talking about Yu Xin's sister.

Yu Yan let out a faint smile. "Right."

Her evaluation of this Zhou Wei increased a bit. The two of them might have fought a bit when they were young but who would not act out of impulse when they were young? They were only children back then, there was no need to carry on grievances even after they grew up.

She thought that the noble ladies would have been poisoned by Yu Xin but it seemed that there were still some clear headed one who didn't get affected.

"Also, those who come near Yu Xin are only low level nobles and not really the daughters of the truly rich ones." Zhou Wei took a glass and sipped the wine. "Those who were truly classy would not come to a third class party like this."

"…You do realize that you're also coming to the party, right?"

"My father forced me to come with my uncle!" Zhou Wei's expression turned sour when she talked about it. "Forget it, I remember meeting you in City A but you're with Bao Tu back then. Then… I heard that Bao Tu is now Yu Xin's girlfriend. I'm sure that they might even use you to be their stepping stone."

"Heh, he was just a thrown shoe that was not worthy to even hold my handkerchief." Yu Yan sneered. "If my sister fancied him, she can take him for all I care."

Zhou Wei was surprised to hear such cold words from Yu Yan. She raised her hand and gave a thumbs up. "You're very badass, Boss Yu!"

Yu Yan nearly threw up blood.

"When did I become your Boss?"

"Ah, you've beaten me up, so of course you're my Boss!"

"Nonsense!"

The two young women would have continued their quarreling if not for the lights suddenly shifted. It was now landed on Kang Mao Yao as she gave her short speech, thanking everyone who came to celebrate her birthday and bla bla bla.

Yu Yan was not interest to listen and casually picked up a plate and wiped it before picking some cakes.

When the speech was over, a young girl walked to the front and gave hug to Kang Mao Yao along with a young man beside her. The two of them were dressed luxuriously and it was not hard to see that they must be rich.

Yu Xin and Bao Tu.

In the past, Yu Yan thought that when she saw Bao Tu again, she would feel hurt as her heart was shattered to pieces. But seeing him with Yu Xin, Yu Yan found out that she didn't feel anything. There was not even any dull pain that was left within her heart anymore.

She had already told herself that they were over.

After weeping for a day, she completely discarded all of her memories with Bao Tu and acted as if they never happened. Hardening her heart and forget him, that was the only way for her to move on.

And with Long Ying already occupying her thoughts lately, she really couldn't bring herself to even miss Bao Tu.

He was just someone from her past that she would never care about anymore, a stranger not even worth mentioning.

"Wow, you're calm." Zhou Wei looked at the pair at the front and scrunched with disgust. "If I hadn't participated in the party in City A, I would have never thought that you used to be together with him."

"We're only together for a short while." Yu Yan paid no heed to him and calmly picked another cake. She was about to continue eating when she saw familiar figure walking towards her. The young woman was dressed in beautiful pink red dress that was fairly conservative. The dress was also long and seemed to be hard to walk in.

"Cousin Yu Yan."

"Cousin Lei Xing Yi." Yu Yan smiled. Lei Xing Yi was the only child that Lei Huan and Kang Mao Yao produced and she had met with the other party just a few days prior. "What are you doing here? Don't you need to accompany your mother?"

Lei Xing Yi's eyes flashed as she shook her head lightly. "No need. Mother is busy, so I'll just stay at the back light."

"I see."

"I hope you enjoy the party, Cousin Yu Yan."

"You too, Cousin Lei Xing Yi."

The two interacted shortly, but Zhou Wei had already started talking. "Your cousin is quite pitiful."

"Ah?"

"Do you not know the incident a few years prior?" Zhou Wei looked at Yu Yan in confusion. "Oh right, you haven't been in City A for a long time. Anyway, that Lei Xing Yi is not even allowed to call Kang Mao Yao as her mother and have to call her aunt in public. If not for that incident revealing that she was Kang Mao Yao's daughter, everyone would have thought that she's just her niece."

Yu Yan was stunned. She truly didn't know that. No wonder that Lei Xing Yi didn't seem to have any affection whatsoever to her mother and father. Something must have happened in her household.

Looking at the young woman's back figure, Yu Yan felt as if she could see herself. While the circumstances were slightly different, there was also similarities as Yu Yan was not favored by her parents.

They were always looking at her as if she owed them her a great debt, debt of life that could never be paid.

But before Yu Yan could think further, the familiar sickening voice entered her ear.

"Sister!"
