2 Years Of Restarting

Zhou Wei arched her eyebrows. "Fine, if you say that, I won't interfere with what you want to do."

"Say, Zhou Wei, we only reunited again after 8 years. Do you intend to keep on following me all the time?"

"What I'm not allowed to do that?"

"You're only going to waste your time if you keep on following me. Wouldn't your parents angry if you don't start working?" Yu Yan looked at Zhou Wei.

"I'm already a working woman!" Zhou Wei was speechless. "You never come to the reunion so you might not know this, but I'm a proudly working woman who will not be an embarrassment of my family!"

"But you're still looking for a fight just now?"

"That's… different."

Yu Yan shrugged. She looked into the distance and saw a man waved his hand towards them. "That man might be searching for you."

"Hmm? Ack, it's uncle. Let's talk again later, eh wait, give me your contact. I can't contact you with your old number."

"Oh."

After graduating, Yu Yan changed her phone number because she threw away her old number. There were only several people who knew her number after she moved away to City F. This was one of the reasons why Yu Yan never came to any of the reunion party that was hosted afterwards.

She only contacted Long Ying for a short period of time after her graduation before she stopped contacting him afterwards.

Yu Yan thought that she finally could get peace when she saw her loud cousin was not far from her, chatting with the girls around him merrily. Kang San Hai noticed Yu Yan and waved his hand.

"Cousin Yu Yan! I didn't expect to see you here. After City A, now you move to the Capital City?"

"There's job reassignment." Yu Yan chose to use this excuse since this was also partially the truth. Though, it was more like the opposite that happened since the job was reassigned due to her husband's request.

Kang San Hai blinked his eyes in astonishment. "Did you get promotion? Damn, to think that a promotion can bring you to the Capital City. If I know this, I would have had over to City F and search for a job right away. With my capabilities, I'm sure that I'll be able to get promotion in no time!"

Yu Yan was speechless. Glancing over to look at her cousin, she rolled her eyes. "Are you sure that it's not because of your background that you'll get the promotion."

"Hey! Stop belittling your cousin!"

"Sure, sure."

Kang San Hai also rolled his eyes. At this time, another young man walked in their direction. He was tall and a bit imposing. With his skin slightly tanned and hair cut short, he looked a bit intimidating.

However, Yu Yan had long gotten used to her cousin's cold attitude. "It's been a while, Cousin Kang San Hao."

Kang San Hao was Kang San Hai older brother. He was practically the eldest among the five of them and often being tasked to take care of the younger ones. The second eldest one was Yu Yan, but she was much more mischievous and certainly couldn't be counted on for such matters.

Being a soldier, Kang San Hao rarely went home and could only be seen occasionally. Whenever they met, Yu Yan was used to see her cold cousin putting on that strict expression on his face.

"Cousin Yu Yan." Kang San Hao nodded lightly.

"Brother! You have to help me redress my grievances! Cousin Yu Yan is telling me that I'll be unable to get promotion if I were to work in City F! For someone as great as me, Kang San Hai, how could it be possible that I'll not get a promotion? That'll be a great joke…."

"That's the truth."

Kang San Hai nearly choked on his saliva. He looked at his older brother resentfully but Kang San Hao was simply giving him a sidelong glance.

"Brother!"

"Don't make our family lose face. Control your mouth."

Yu Yan nearly burst out laughing when she saw Kang San Hai reprimanded by his brother. She was only a few years younger than her first brother, but she always felt amused whenever she saw how serious he was.

The two of them returned back and talked with other younger generations. Kang San Hao was mostly silent, though. It was always Kang San Hai who was talking a lot with other people, speaking his mind without restraint.

Looking to the front where her aunt was staying, Yu Yan chose to step forward. At the very least, she would greet her aunt then leave the party. There was no need for her to stay here that long either. 

The majestic atmosphere was totally unsuitable for her.

When she came forward, some noble ladies looked in her direction but they disregard her afterwards. It was clear that some of them had already recognized her thanks to her similar countenance with Yu Xin.

"Aunt," Yu Yan greeted when she was close enough. "I wish you happy birthday and long life."

Kang Mao Yao's mouth twitched when she saw Yu Yan. Just a few days ago, they were quarreling at the mine and she felt thoroughly humiliated at that time. However, she was also someone who cared a lot for her face and naturally would not openly mock Yu Yan no matter how much she hated the other party.

"It's you, Yu Yan. Thank you for coming. I thought that you'll still stay in City F and not come here," Kang Mao Yao replied with a smile. Her words sounded as if she was caring yet she was actually mocking Yu Yan for staying in City F and not in the Capital City.

It was known that City F was a small city and naturally couldn't be compared to the Capital City. The living condition in City F was also much worse although the price was cheaper there.

"I'll work in the Capital City now since there's job reassignment, Aunt." Yu Yan smiled. "Thank you for your concern."

Kang Mao Yao narrowed her eyes. This rascal chose to head over to the Capital City instead of City A? Most of them were in City A and only came to the Capital City occasionally, especially for an event like today's party.

"Oh, that's good. You have been working hard, Yu Yan."

"Many thanks for your compliment, Aunt." Yu Yan smiled. "Since I only moved here, there are a lot of things that I need to take care, so please excuse me, Aunt."

Kang Mao Yao nodded, then her eyes turned sharp. "Why don't you stay in my place? I have an apartment that I didn't use anymore, so you can stay there if you don't have any other place."

Yu Yan smiled yet there was no mirth, instead there was only cold light emanating from deep within. She could already guess what her aunt was planning by giving this kind suggestion.

"There's no need for this, Aunt. I already have a place for living."

"Are you staying with your friend? There's no need to bother your friend because…."

"Aunt, please don't worry. The place where I'm staying is not anywhere illegal and it's mine." Yu Yan smiled. Technically, it belonged to her husband, but it shouldn't be wrong to say it's hers, right?

Right.

She would just assume so.

Kang Mao Yao's face stiffened as she looked at Yu Yan with suspiciousness. From what she heard from her sister, Yu Yan shouldn't have enough money to buy even an apartment in the Capital City. The expensive expenditure was not a joke and someone like Yu Yan, who was nothing more than an employee would need years to earn enough money.

"How did you get that much money to buy house? Are you doing something illegal?" Kang Mao Lan suddenly asked from behind. Her voice sounded harsh as if she was rebuking a criminal.

Yu Yan passed a sidelong glance, her indifferent eyes only turned colder. In the past, she would not even dare to look back because of her grandfather's teaching. But in here, she kept on having her bottom line touched over and over by her parents and sister. 

"Mother." Yu Yan only called out with one word but the lack of warmth in her tone could easily make one wonder what their real relationship was. The way Yu Yan looked at Kang Mao Lan didn't seem like what a daughter would look at her mother be.

"You ungrateful daughter! Speak! Where did you earn the money from?"

Yu Yan let out a chuckle. "Do you really want me to tell the world how you deprive your daughter from any fund?"

The people around gasped in surprise while Kang Mao Lan's face turned green in anger.. Her body began to shake in anger but she held on. She spat out, "That's only because it's your punishment! Who told you to run away from home to City F?"
