A Cheat's Survival Journal

Chapter 15 - V.i.r.g.i.nia

After the night at the church, everyone decided to bring Noah to V.i.r.g.i.nia since there was nothing left for everyone in Georgia. The 3 week journey was tiring and unfortunately, Tyreese died even after I gave him a warning of to stay vigilant, expecting him follow it and not get bit from the zombie child. But it seems like it's his fate to die and for everyone to mourn over his death; except for me. I don't feel anything towards death, I already experienced it once before.

We were staying inside a barn for the night and oh man, it was storming. I was using my kagune to keep the door from flying open after I told everyone else to rest. I held it shut for several hours until the winds finally died down and I collapsed on the floor, tired and hungry after straining my body using my kagune. The others were concerned at first but I said I was fine and fell asleep. Seeing that I was fine, everyone else went to sleep except for one to be on lookout.

Today, I woke up in the morning with my stomach aching for food. Over the past few weeks, we were all together traveling in a group. The others had chances to wander alone, except for me due to it being one of the few rules that I have. I can't go anywhere alone without having someone else with me; I can't hunt someone unless they are 'bad' or if they try to kill me. I was pretty pissed about that, but they'll learn the hard way soon; and finally, don't expose myself to strangers unless they are absolutely going to be killed. The first rule is eh, I can live with it until everyone is completely use to what I am. The second rule will pretty much screw all of us over, so I'm fine with it. What? I can't be vengeful? A boy gotta eat. The third rule, I'm completely fine with it. Why would I want to expose myself to just anyone?

Sitting up while wrapping my arms around my stomach in pain, I let out a groan causing the few awake to look over towards me. Rick, Glenn, Maggie, Noah, and Daryl were the ones who accepted me fully while the others were a bit wary but it was quickly going away. Maggie came over to me and asked concerned, "Jin, are you alright?" I gritted my teeth and stood up, "I'm fine, I'm~ Just extremely.. Hungry!" I felt my sanity flow in and out like the tides of the ocean. I stumbled towards the door of the barn and looked around, quickly spotting a zombie impaled into a snapped, fallen tree. The others seeing me leave the barn came out to see where I was going, except for the few were who were still asleep.

Maggie the first since she kept following right behind me when I went out, she said in worry, "I don't think there is anyone for miles for you to eat... What will happen when you begin to starve?" I replied while walking towards the impaled zombie and said, "I lose my sanity and I have a possibility of binge eating. I would of been fine for another week without eating but the barn door had to be kept shut and I didn't want you guys to use up your strength." Even with my sanity wavering, it only increased my the use of my silver tongue.

Arriving in front of the zombie, I fell down and grabbed the leg. Maggie and the others, had a bad feeling since they all had the same thought on what I was about to do. Maggie and Rick were the first to shout for me to not do it, but it was too late and I already ripped the leg off and began to eat it. The flavor? Sour and disgusting! I ate in huge bites to stop myself from puking and after I finished, I sat and had to force it down. I turned towards the others and saw them with their guns out, I got up and casually said while trying to stop myself from puking the contents of my stomach out, "I won't turn from eating only a leg." I checked my status to confirm that I'll be fine.

Abraham loaded his gun with one in the chamber and aimed towards my head. Depending on the bullet, it could pierce my skin and kill me. He said in a condescending tone, "Oh yeah, how so?" I looked at him and said in a tone, wondering if he was retarded, "I can take several zombie bites, which are much shockingly more lethal than other parts of zombies." Rick thought about it for a moment and came to the decision, "Alright, I trust you. But for the others who are worried, we can have Maggie make sure he doesn't show sypmtons." Abraham was the only one who had a problem, guess he still hates me due to breaking his dreams and not being human.

We all went back inside the barn, I was by the door with Maggie and Glenn. We chatted for awhile before Daryl came over and began to talk about Sasha and her recent loss, leading to Maggie waking Sasha up and taking her outside to have a moment together, watch the sun rise, and bring a friend who I smelled ever since the weather cleared up and I woke up.

When I noticed three scents getting closer, I called over Rick to come to me. When he arrived, I began to tell him with heavy eye lids since I haven't rested enough, "I'm going to sleep, don't wake me up for anything. There is an unknown face coming, listen to him. He means well and isn't try to trick anyone, don't try to do things your way." Rick asked confused, "How do you know?" I began to drift off to sleep, "Have I ever told a lie to you all yet?" With that, I fell asleep for the day.
